Fresh recs for a frequent visitor! New ideas needed!

Hi everyone! I am a relatively frequent visitor to Montreal. One thing i tend to do though is go back to the same restaurants i love over and over. Now i want to shake things up a little. Im hoping some of you can recommend new ideas at any pricepoint that represent the best of the current food scene. I know its a broad request but im open to anything except asian or indian. Also anything near old montreal (cirque du soleil) for sun night would be great. I wanted to try DNA but its closed on sun. Thanks in advance!!

good for large groups?

Hey,

I'm headed back to my home town and planning a dinner for about 12. I had originally planned for the group to be smaller and made a reservation at Lawry's, but now I think that it is a bit too formal and a bit too expensive for my budget for that large of a group.

Does anyone have any suggestions for that size of a group? I'm trying to get my siginificant other to love LA as much as I do and the way to his heart is through his stomach!

Thanks :)

ISO Shrimp & Grits

Did Colorado Kitchen ever relocate? Or was that just a rumor? They had great shrimp and grits!

Guinea Fowl

You can purchase guinea fowl at whole foods without having to special order it. At least that has been my experience at 14th and P.

Blue Duck Tavern Review

I'm glad you had a great experience! I was there for brunch and enjoyed it though because of the portion sizes it's better to go with more than two people so you can taste more food! I have to just say I totally agree with the attitude of the hostesses. I had made reservations 4 weeks in advance for an 11:30 brunch. When we arrived we asked to sit outside because it was such a beautiful day. Only one outside table was filled. We were told those tables were reserved. I said reserved for who? I reserved a table there 4 weeks prior! She reluctantly agreed to allow us to take a small table outside.

Animal Farm butter in manhattan?

It also says the fat content is 87% - so maybe if you look for other butters with that unusually high fat content you may be able to get something comparable.

Animal Farm butter in manhattan?

It seems that if you go to their website http://www.animalfarmvt.com/ you may be able to order some butter. Their website reads:

If you are interested in any of our products, please call us at 802-623-6599, or e-mail us at diane@animalfarmvt.com.

(Sorry, but due to its extremely fragile nature, we cannot ship butter during the summer.)

It's worth a try!

Baltimore: Pre-opera dinner?

Any suggestions for a great pre-opera dinner in Baltimore? I know nothing about Baltimore - but I am looking for something but not overly formal as it will be an early dinner. Thanks!

Advice for Outoftowners - a wow list please!

Hi there,

Well I moved from LA 10 years ago and am heading back with some extended family from France. We are going to be in LA before heading to Palm Springs just for 2 days.

I really just want a wow list of restaurants - I am not concerned with price, but at the same time I do not want restaurants that require a suit and tie at every turn. Just great places - nice atmosphere - maybe places with a view - with great food. Westside would be great - I would like to take my fam to Malibu to get up the coast a little too.

Any suggestions you pros have would be much appreciated. I'm particularly excited to find a great brunch restaurant for a sunday :) Oh and no asian / indian due to food allergies :(

Thanks so much!

Good place for a large group dinner!

Hey there,

I am looking for a great restaurant in downtown dc / gtown to celebrate my graduation.... I'd like a place that has no problem handling a party of 15 - 20. Not too expensive ....

Thanks for anything that comes to mind!!
