lunch in camden new jersey aquarium area

Camden is NOT a place to drive around looking for a place to eat. It simply is not safe. I'd do lunch before in Cherry Hill before going to the aquarium. Mostly chains, but you can always find something for the kids. There is also Ponzios Diner on Route 70 if you want to keep it non chain related.

Haan Run grocery : best dumplings?

any suggestions (please name brand) for pork as well as vegetable dumplings from their freezer dept? There are so many choices...never know what to pick. I will either steam them or do them as pot stickers and add a bit of water and cover with lid for 9 minutes as per most directions.
Thanks

SoCal gal moving to Cherry Hill needs a little help from her C.H friends

Quine, if you;re willing to drive to Pt Pleasant, there is an excellent seafood store called Point Lobster. I am also a lover of the day scallops and have found theirs are absolutely the best. Also, other great seafood at this store. Sadly, shopping there has turned me into a real snob when it comes to my fresh seafood. Wegmans, Whole Paycneck, H Mart. nothing compares to this store Simply the best.

what happened to all my saved recipes and how do I save new ones?

A serious illness has kept me from posting or reading chowhound regularly for sevveral months. Today I wanted to find in my profile all the various recipes I saved in the past. I also wanted to save the entire listing of fall soups on the chowhound site. Soup seems to be one of the few things I can keep successfully down and I love it. However I can't find my old recipes and don't even know if it is possible to save the several soup recipes ad a 'block', if you will. Can someone help me out here?
Thanks

Best Eggs Benedict in S Jersey burbs?

An old friend is in town and we both love eggs benedict. The home made kind, not the kind with the jarred sauce! Looking for suggestions for restaurants or diners that serve this rare treat not only on the weeends but during the week. We've had so many failures between cold poached eggs to hollandaise sauce made with beef broth and don't want to chance it. I have to say that Ponzios diner makes them well. Not looking for a all you can eat lunch/brunch type place, just craving the EB.
Thanks

GOOD pizza on LBI??

Help. Looking for good pizza for takeout tonight on LBI, specifically in Brant Beach area. Joey's delivers, but they now have the 'conveyer' belt type pizza that is served at crummy pizza places. Anyplace with a brick oven pizza that also might offer some salad options? We have a bunch of kids here for the weekend who want pizza, but have been so disappointed by our pizza options here that we no longer bother looking for it. Thanks

King Wong on 70 in Medford: change of ownership

Sonny, the owner of King Wong mentioned to me several times that he was sellng the King Wong location on 70 (shopping center with Mkado), and was moving to a location that housed a former Friendly's on Main St. in Moorestown. Well, the new owner is in place in Medford (and not too friendly), but when I drove by the Friendlys. there was no activity and still a for rent sign. Does anyone know what/where Sonny is? I loved his food, especially his soups.

McMillan's Bakery on Haddon Ave. in New Jersey has the Best Cream Donuts I have tasted

I live a few towns away from McMillans and their cream donuts are really the best. Now the other bakery products...I do like the mini sticky buns and the mini danish. The cakes and cookies are decent, but nothing to go out of your way for. Their muffins are just OK, IMO. My mom says the cream donuts are worth killing for, and she is an expert!

BBQ classes in NJ

My sister would love to give her husband some classes/workshop on BBQ. The old fashioned kind (Texas or NC), and also the basic grilling type. BIL loves real BBQ and has commented on how he would love to take classes. He also could use some lessons on the proper way to cook things on the grill! He literally can't stop touching the steaks/burgers and is constantly moving them, never allowing them to get a crust. We end up with steamed food, rather than grilled meats. He's a great guy; just could use a little help from a master griller/cook. Any ideas? Jersey into Philly area would be preferred.
Thanks

Napoleon's Creampuffery: Lindenwold

For several years, I have been purchasing the most fabulous creampuffs from Napoleon's Creampuffery. It's in an out of the way location in dismal Lindenwold; but don't let that stop you. These are so delicious, it's worth the trip out of the way. The creampuffs are filled as you wait (or you can preorder), and dusted with powdered sugar. They always have vanilla, chocolate and pistachio; and usually a an additional flavor or two of the day. The puff itself is light as air, and the pistachio is out of this world. Full of flavor and not overly sweet, with the tiniest bits of pistachio here and there. The chocolate is a second favorite, again not overly sweet. So fabulous it's hard to leave the parking lot without wanting to bite into one. (it's a two biter kind of thing!)
They sell a few other things, like carrot cake, which I haven't tried. The place is teeny tiny; with friendly service I have seen people purchasing the freshly made puff wmpty shells, which they fill at home with chicken salad, etc.
If you are ever in the area, it's just up the road from La Esperanza Mexican Food, and about 2 miles away from the Ritz Movie Theater in Voorhees. You won't be sorry!

Can't find my saved recipes or saved threads???

Went back today to look for my saved recipes and threads (that I saved for multiple recipe ideas). Could bring up the saved recipes once, but never the saved threads (or topics). What gives? Is there a new way to do this?

I was just in Riverside last week and stopped at the Seabras grocery store. Chock full of Portugese and Brazilian products, produce, sausage, etc. They also carry Boost in a few different sizes.

baby shower Brick area need suggestions

Kathy: sorry to hear this. Do yourself a favor and eat before you go...you can thank me later for this tip! Great view because of the ocean, but the food is...not so good. Unfortunately, with your budget, there isn't much of a choice in the area. Have fun anyway!

baby shower Brick area need suggestions

My sister had my niece;s Communion party at VV and was very good. In fact, we just ate there last week (bifrthday party). You might want to try Andy's in Sea Girt. It's just in a strip shopping center with little atmosphere, but the food is very good. BYOB They have a back dining room that has been recently redone, but the front of the place is a pizza parlor. My parents said Rellas is not good, and be glad the Lobster Shanty is taken the day you were looking for. I seriously had one of the worst meals of my life at that filthy place. BTW the people who own VV also have another restaurant in Forked River that is equally good, I'll post the link below, (Il Giardino)

You might also want to check out Simkos in Brielle or Brick. I know they host lots of parties there. Food is decent, though not what I would consider excellent. It should meet your budget though.

Gravy to go with Chicken Croquettes?

Thank you both. I am out of my homemade chicken stock right now, so will resort to using broth and maybe a bit of wine to make my gravy. They both like shallots and mushrooms, so that is also a good idea for an addition. Thanks!

Gravy to go with Chicken Croquettes?

Purchased some freshly made chicken croquettes at an excellent German butcher shop today for my elderly parents. They love them! The butcher did not sell chicken gravy and I'm wondering if anyone has an easy and delicious recipe for a nice gravy to go with them. My parents are not chowhounds, so the simpler the better. My mom also does not care for cream based sauces (for some strange reason). Any ideas?
Thanks

Brick: where's the 'good' stuff??

seddon you gave me a laugh!! Been to Harrigans and my parents do like it. Also, was forced:-)) to make numerous trips to the liquor store by the Shop Rite in Manasquan to restore my sanity. Decent selection. Tried Mossutos for some rather expensive salads that were tasty, but overpriced. Also has some excellent bread sticks that I purchased there. In addition, their cookies were delicious,. Service is rather slow and a bit disorganized, but I'd still go back for the cookies.

Pho Xinh (So Jersey)?

Bunch of new Vietnamese places in S Jersey these days. Pho Garden on Kings Hwy in CH opened recently had I've been there several times. Beef pho is pretty good, but I think the spring rolls from Pho Eden are better. Also noticed a new Pho restaurant on Route 38 in Mt. Laurel (shopping center with Aldi).

Brick: where's the 'good' stuff??

I did drive by and wonder about Sentosa. It looks pretty beat, but then I am always one to try the out of the way place at least once. My parents, not so much! My mom does not like seafood, so we have to try places that also offer non seafood options. We're regulars at Simkos, VV, St Stephens Green, Forte, Rods, Had one of the worst meals of my life at Lobster Shanty, so won;t be visiting that hellhole again. I'm curious about the mexican places you mention. There are a few places on 71 that I wanted to try, but my parents think they look 'scary'!

I guess my point was, that since Brick is such a big town, I expected to see more of a variety of mom and pop options there. My parents have been in Manasquan for 11 years now, and things have improved as far as the food sceen goes, but there is still a long way to go. Do consider yourselves fortunate to have such good fresh seafood stores and options right in your backyard.

Brick: where's the 'good' stuff??

One of the things I find so facinating about this area is that with the proliferation of senior housing and residents, services geared toward them are non existent. My parents live in a gated over 55 community across from the aforementioned Shop Rite. Can you believe that Shop Rite does not deliver groceries? Neither does the one in Brick. And the Shop Rite is the most crowded grocery store I have ever seen; with a parking lot that is beyond scary with senior drivers.
Where I live, I can get delivery from Shop Rite, Acme, Genardis, etc. You would think a light bulb would go off saying 'hmmmm; captive audience here, lets deliver'. I've only found a few restaurants that deliver; like two. I can get pretty much anything delivered to my house if I so choose. Why not here? I did order from Pea Pod (Stop and Shop) for grocery delivery this weekend; which worked out fine for my parents. There's a business opportunity here for the right people and services.

Brick: where's the 'good' stuff??

I'm a huge fan of Point Lobster and have been going there for years. I'll be the first to say that PL beats our fish store in Haddonfield, or anything Wegmans or WF has to offer. I haven't been to Mossutos, but have driven by it often on the way to one of my parents doctors appts:-(
