Beef Noodle Soup Restaurant From Taiwan To Open In Irvine
Just visited the website and it says late July. Menu prices are also updated and holy cow are they ridiculous...
Best Sandwhich in Orange County?
I really enjoy a sandwich at Le Diplomat at University Center in Irvine. They have a good variety and it's very popular around lunch time
Best Pizza in Orange County?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned one of my favorites yet!
Give Haus of Pizza in Costa Mesa a shot. It's in the Paul Mitchell plaza across from OCC and has excellent pizza -- you can do take out too.

Cal Poly SLO (San Luis Obispo) -- lunch recs?
Wow, thanks for the responses! I'm doing a bit more research on your recs and I'll keep you posted on what happens.

Also, if you are open to Japanese, Fukada is a good near-by choice. They also have a sister restaurant called Fukada2Go that does lunch boxes, I believe.
http://fukada2go.com/ (The online menu isn't too helpful but I have seen their menu in person at Fukada and I remember it having a lot more selection)

Cal Poly SLO (San Luis Obispo) -- lunch recs?
I'm heading up to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo tomorrow and am looking for a lunch spot. Something that won't break the bank and great taste -- maybe something I can't find in OC/LA area. Any recs will be helpful and the closer to the university, the better.
Thanks!
Best Happy Hour in Orange County
The Crosby in Santa Ana actually has a pretty good HH from 5-8pm Mon-Fri; although I have heard reports that HH is all day on Monday...don't hold me to that though.
$1 Pabst, $2 off well drinks, $3 sangrias (red or white). There is also a small selection of food available. I got the $5 pizza and $5 chili cheese fries last week and it was a lot of food! Great deals.

Need trendy/scene restaurant rec around Redondo Beach
I'm looking for restaurant recs for an out-of-town businessman who is into trendy/scene-ish restaurants, preferably near the Redondo Beach, for a Saturday lunch. Criteria is no seafood and no Japanese. About $20-30pp.
ludobites-questions
I'm going to Ludo next Thurs but couldn't book dinner for anytime except 9pm. Anybody know when last seating is or if there's any possibility they'd run out of any dishes around 9?
spago or craft?
I've never been to Spago but I've been to Craft. But I think I can recommend Spago based on my less than stellar meal at Craft.
Orange County recomendation?
If you do go for Lawry's please save your money and don't get the prime rib. Save it for a real Lawry's prime rib restaurant or Five Crowns in Corona.
Lawrys Menu (for a non-red meat eater)
I agree with ipsedixit. I once got fish instead of my usual prime rib and still regret it to this day. They do have lobster tails if I recall correctly...
And the creamed corn is fabulous! There's mashed potatos and Yorkshire pudding?
Quick...cheap good lunch spots in the Irvine Spectrum/Lake Forest Area
I third Fukada. One of my favorite lunch spots. Closed on Mondays -- I learned the hard way.
molecular gastronomy ramen?! wth?! oh yes, RAMEN CALIFORNIA is here. (review w/ pics)
Thanks for the review! I know where I'm going for dinner tonight.
Help me find a restaurant that meets this (random) criteria
Totally not fancy but Red Robin's does have strawberry lemonade...with unlimited refills. And the entrees are around $15...or less!
need a decent breakfast place in Anaheim tomorrow
It seems as if I caught this thread too late but I'm just posting for future reference.
Cafe Casse Croute is a sure bet for breakfast/lunch whenever I'm near that area. It's not that fancy but the food there drives me back time and time again.

Best shaved ice in Rowland Heights area
Actually, Class 302 does have shaved ice. It's on the last page of their menu and it comes with five toppings for $5.50!
My friends got that and I stuck with the snow ice.
Best shaved ice in Rowland Heights area
Thanks for the comparison.
If you're ever in Costa Mesa, there's a place called Milk + Honey that incorporates the milk into the ice, although I'm afraid it doesn't compare to Class 302's.
Best shaved ice in Rowland Heights area
I'll bookmark it for a future trip. I mapped it just now and it's a little off my travel route tonight. Thanks for the tip though!
Best shaved ice in Rowland Heights area
Thanks all for your input! I think I am going to go to Class 302 due to time constraints and whatnot. The other two stores close too early.
Best shaved ice in Rowland Heights area
I'm heading to Rowland Heights area tonight and I know I'll totally be in the mood for some shaved ice goodness.
I've scoured the boards here and cross-referenced w/ Yelp. I've narrowed it down to Class 302, Little Bean and Simbala. Which of these places is the best? Or are there other spots I should consider? I'll probably be going around 9:30pm-ish.
I'm really partial to the shaved ice with milk infused in it; I know Class 302 offers it but I'm wondering if any of the other places do too.
The IRON CHEF Tasting Menu - Providence [Review] w/ Pics!
Thank you for such a wonderful review. I booked Providence for this coming Sunday and in the mean time, I'm eating up all the reviews I can.
REVIEW: Maki-Zushi, Tustin
It's actually for a friend and it already passed so I gotta find a place in a jiffy!
Good sushi - orange county?
Sushi Wasabi -- Omakase only at the bar and the chef will feed you until you're full. There are tables around but the restaurant is small and I think there can be quite a wait on a busy night. Also there's only one chef but he's amazing.
Kasen -- Very traditional Japanese restaurant, so no California rolls, combo plates, chicken teriyaki, etc. I've visisted for two dinners and both times, it's been quiet there but the fish is excellent and I've had one of the most eclectic variety of fish in a chirashi sushi here.

Boba novice seeks advice
Cha for Tea's my #1 choice for boba cravings. At other places, I get really inconsistent boba texture and IMO, Cha has been the most stable provider.
best mexican in the OC?
I'm not too big on Mexican food but my friend who is swears by Taqueria de Anda.

Afternoon tea ideas =)
I thought that the tea at the Peninsula was a little overhyped. It was overpriced and service was decent.
I really like the Huntington but only go once in a blue moon as it is hard to get reservations on the free admission day (first Thursday of every month I believe). And now they have a ticket systemin place so you have to secure tickets, too. I think the lines open two months in advance.
I wasn't that impressed with Chado. The food was decent and service was a little sub-par. Ho-hum atmosphere.
if you're willing to travel far, i'd suggest Tea Upon Chatsworth in Loma Point. Or there's Jin Patisserie in Venice Beach although they don't offer you anything on a spectacular three-tiered presentation. Excellent cakes, though, and a charming atmosphere.

I haven't been to the District as of late so I don't know if it's open or not yet.

thanks das. you may have just solved my birthday dinner dilemma.
