Coming-- Blue Mesa?
According to Blue Mesa rep, this will be a new concept called Tacos and Tequila
Happy Hour - NW Austin, Domain / Arboretum area
The new Roaring Fork at Stonelake (just off Braker and 183) has a great happy hour! It is also a beautiful location...
Vivo: I saw the sign: Cedar Park
Just talked to Vivo guys--it is scheduled to open the last week of October or first week of November.
Vivo: I saw the sign: Cedar Park
I just emailed Vivo to confirm and they said yes, it is true, and the location should be ready by October (with patio dining!)
Ristorante Bellissimo
A friend and i tried this restaurant today for lunch based on good reviews and a recent article in the Statesman. I cannot beleive anyone would give this place a good review--it was horrible. I took one bite and gagged. Ordered the shrimp in "white wine sauce" and it tasted like a brown gravy you would get on a bad chicken fried steak at a cafeteria. The shrimp was underdone, the crab it was stuffed with was tasteless and obviously canned by the texture, and the prosciutto seriously may have been spoiled. It was honestly a scary experience. They never turned any lights on and the rugs inside were filthy. It looked ominously like a place that is about to be shut down... what a waste of money. We had to head straight to another restaurant to buy a 2nd lunch!
French Dip
The french dip sandwich served for lunch at Jasper's in the Domain is excellent. It is made with moist, tasty Wagyu beef. A little pricey, but a delicious choice (I find some of their other dishes a bit disappointing...).
Best beef fajitas in Houston?
The beef tenderloin fajitas at El Tiempo are hands-down the BEST beef fajitas I have ever put in my mouth. We regularly make the drive all the way from Austin for dinner. They are much more expensive than the regular beef fajitas, but are well worth the money and the serving for 1 will feed 2 easily...
Where to find GRILLED flautas?
The flautas at Manuel's are my absolute favorite and yes, they are grilled. You can even deviate from the menu and get pork flautas with a mole/tomatillo sauce combo--to die for!!!!!!!
Favorite Dish(es) at Fonda San Miguel
For an appetizer, the chile con queso is to die for and the tacos al pastor are scrumptious! My favorite main course is the enchiladas de jaiba (crab enchiladas in a rich sour cream sauce). For dessert, we've tried several things, but always go back to the crepas de cajeta--they're a can't miss.
