Input sought for good "traditional" dinner spot within walking distance to DF Zocalo
One of my favs is Puro Corazon...perfect view of the zocalo, great mezcal margaritas (and tequila too!) and cochinita pibil that is out of this world. The staff is very friendly and everything I've tried there has been excellent.
Recos for Monterrey - lunch?
@xacinta...My flight leaves later that night, sorry should have been clearer on that. Traffic doesn't scare me - I live in DF! I'm going to be around Col. Cumbres.
@streetgourmetla...love your enthusiasm with the "ufff" I'll have to try it!
Thanks!!!

Hi,
I'm flying to Monterrey this week on business and I'll only have time to grab lunch somewhere. Any recommendations on where would be a good choice? I like all types of food.

Bazaar del Sabado in San Angel - Any good food?
Hi! You should definitely try one of the made to order quesadillas inside the little plaza by the Bazaar if you are looking for a snack. They are soooo good!
High Altitude Baking
Hi,
Does anyone know of any good high altitude baking sites?
My pies turn out ok in Mexico City, but I'm struggling with brownies and cookies. I have tried adjusting the recipe, but just can't seem to get it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi,
Was just in the Costco in Polanco today and saw bags of them. I saw them a few months ago too, so its pretty much a sure bet.
any good food all-inclusives in playa del carmen or around?
I stayed at Royal Hideaway and the food was so good you would never guess it was an all inclusive. No buffet style - these are real sit down meals with menus and delicious food! Plus the beach is amazing.
Romantic Dining For Anniversary in Cabos.............
I second El Chilar. Very cute place and wonderful service.
Also, I don't know if it is still around but Voila in SJD is also great. I had a wonderful Christmas dinner there. One of those dinners where you keep saying "oh my god this is good".
Canned pumpkin anyone?
Hi,

Can't find heavy cream (whipping cream) in Mexico City
Hi SocksManly,
I don't know where in Mexico City you are located, but you might try the Wal Mart in Interlomas. I usually have good luck there and I'm sure I've seen whipping cream there. If not, there is a high end speciality market right down the street called "City Market" and they would probably have it too.
Where to get the following food items in Mexico?
UPDATE!!
I was walking through the Superama the other day and low and behold, I found Italian sausage in the casings!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. This was at the Superama in Lomas de Chapultepec (Barrilaco) if anyone is interested.

Thanks! I'll have to try making my own!
Ruth,
I thought I remembered Costco selling Russet potatoes years ago when I lived in DF, but this time around I hadn't seen them. Maybe they are seasonal. I was very happy to find lemons there. :)
MazDee,
I thought long lasagna noodles would be easy to find here too, but I'll I have seen is the short, square noodles! I may have to sneak some back in my suitcase.

Dim Sum in DF
Hi there,
Zhen Shanghai in the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental has Dim sum and so does Chez Wok in Polanco (not sure if it's still open). Also, try Mai Pei. Mmmmm...I'm getting hungry for Chinese food just writing this.
Eating in Polanco, staying at the W
Hi Cleveland,
I'm an expat working in Polanco (down the street from the W) so maybe I can help you out.
If its people watching and atmosphere you are after, hit up the restaurants near Parque de Lincoln (on Emilio Castelar). 50 Friends has great wood fired pizzas that aren't two pricey. Spuntino (on the corner) is an Argentinean place with everything from steak to pizza to empanadas. I've also heard great things about Casa Portuguesa on the same street although I've never been.
I really like Prego, which is right across the street from the hotels. The service is great and the food is consistently good.
Try El Bajio for some good Mexican food and eno if you're looking for a gourmet deli.
Hope this helps.
Sao Paulo Recommendations?
Great suggestions streetgourmetla! I am headed down to SP just like woojink--for business this week--and was glad to see your list. Im hoping my clients will know where to take me, but if I get some time on my own, I'll check out the places listed above.
Wow, you even brought back a wife. Maybe I can find a nice Brazilian husband on my trip :)
Lunch near the 56/Ted Williams Parkway?
My vote is for Bread Bites & Moore...much better than Pat and Oscars. Also, if you get off on Carroll Canyon (a bit further down the 15) there is a deli called Chez Nous. Incredible sandwiches and salads!
best italian food in san diego
I'm a big fan of The Godfather on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. It's in a run down strip mall, but the inside will surprise you.
Pasquales on Prospect and Sante are also very good.
Restaurant in Santa Fe area of Mexico City
Hi there,
If you like Indian food they have a GREAT place called Kohinoor (sp?). Also, for seafood, Fisher's is great. As I remember, it's back by the Novotel.
