Carles Abellan?

I went 3 weeks ago and my experience was horrible. The service from when we walked in until we left was bad. The food was just ok and very expensive. Note sure what a tuna carpacio with ponzu sauce has to do with tapas. The different things we tasted were just average and nothing reslly fit together. The bill was really expensive for what we got, I'll never go back

Byblos or other brunch place in the area

Byblos is still very good and very kid friendly. It gets packed early though I would suggest you show up close to the opening at 9am. Breakfats for 2 is about 20$

Everything bagel topping mix

Crif dogs in the east village. And I agree that "everything" varies as I went to Fairmount this week and the mix on their bagels looked different. I guess I'll create my own.

Everything bagel topping mix

I had the best hot dog in nyc recently and want to replicate it. It's made with a schmear of cream cheese, scallions, bacon, hot sauce & everything bagel seeds. Seriously the best dog I've had so far

Saka-Ba!

I was there last night at around 6h30. They don't have their liquor permit yet so we had homemade yuzu lemonade which was very good. We shared 3 appetizers, fried chicken with a spicy mayo, dumplings and edamame. The fried chicken was very light and tasty, I would order again. Then we each had a pork broth ramen, there was only one option as the lobster broth was not yet available. total bill was 40$ incl tax. I will wait to go back to try the other ramen they will be offering but overall good experience

Moti Mehal = now Flavours of India

I was there last Friday and it is a new owner and new chef. I had dishes that were also on the previous menu and found that they were much tastier than before.

Need lunch recs for weekday for very important client

I need to treat a very important client to lunch this week and have no idea where to bring him. He is from out of town and apparently likes "trendy spots" but I don't want to compromise food quality for trendiness... Thanks!

What's the best thing you've eaten in Montreal??

My favorites are the lobster spaghetti at Joe Beef, the fideos at Tapeo, the lobster and avocado sushi pizza at Tri Express and the pain perdu at Lemeac.

Lobster?

Currently on La salle a manger's menu are the lobster salad and a lobster club sandwich. I tried both and loved the salad but not so much the club. Nouveau Falero on Parc makes a mean lobster roll.

Andrew Zimmern in Mtl

It looks like the host of Bizarre Foods is in Mtl this week, not sure if he's filming an episode for his show. So far he has been to Joe Beef, DNA, Au pied de cochon, Schwartz, cabane a sucre APDC, 5e peche and tonight at Salle a Manger. If you follow him on twitter you'll get a bunch of pictures and comments. He has also written that Salle a Manger might be the best restaurant in Canada and this is only after having a few appetizers.

Creative pack-a-lunch RICE BOWL recipes?

I cook brown rice with half stock half tomato juice, then add 1 or 2 cans if sardines and a few minutes before the rice is done, add some brocoli and a spoon of harissa. I also broil some brocoli in the oven ( burnt brocoli is very yummy) to top the rice bowl with. Sometimes I also add toasted almonds.

BEST OF 2010

I went a few times already, service is great, quality price ratio amazing and it's byow. They change their menu often but my favorite dishes were the squid salad and the chorizo stuffed rabbit. The only negative would be that it's an open kitchen and the smell from all the cooking is overwhelming.
