Hollywood Chow-ography!
I think the sandwiches are really good and you are correct, no grocery. I like their signature sandwich(turkey), but The Godfather is more in line with an Italian sub. Also, their bread is very similar to Bay Cities and I very rarely can eat a large by myself.
In addition, next door is M Cafe. If you like veggie burgers, theirs is fantastic.
I also highly recommend Tere's for Mexican on Melrose between Vine and Cahuenga. it is a little more expensive than most, but their pork chile verde burrito is ridiculous.
Lastly, I am not sure if anyone mentioned this but Oaks Gourmet on Franklin and Bronson is pretty good. They have a small market and I liked their short rib french onion dip, but apparently they have a really good cheeseburger also.
I hope that helps.
Dinner Tonight Halfway between Hollywood and Fullerton
Thank you to everybody who chimed in, but there was a last minute change and we ended up going to Cliffs Edge in Silverlake (I know, pretty much completely opposite of the original plan). We had a nice dinner and the two stand outs were the chickpea fritters appetizer and the skate wing. I don't eat a lot of skate, but everybody agreed that this was by far the best dish of the night. Thanks again for your help.
Hollywood Chow-ography!
It's All About the Bread makes a similar sandwich to Bay Cities and it is on Melrose just a little West of La Brea.
Dinner Tonight Halfway between Hollywood and Fullerton
Thanks, I have been doing a lot of searching and La Casita seems to be the best option. I also found Golden Triangle in Whittier, but it seems like La Casita has better reviews.
Dinner Tonight Halfway between Hollywood and Fullerton
Hello,
My friend is in town and is staying in Fullerton, but I work in Hollywood. We have agreed to meet in the middle, but I am not exactly sure what would be a good halfway point. As of right now I am leaning towards La Casita Mexicana in Bell, but I think that is closer to me. I am open to all kinds of cuisine and I would like to keep it to less than $50 per person but that can be adjusted. Thanks in advance for your help.
Oyster bay care package
Thank you so much. Messina's was very accommodating and my friend's family was very touched. We wanted to send the smoked salmon and the smoked whitefish platter, but they were all out of the whitefish ... So they put together a sampler platter for the same price. Thanks again.
Oyster bay care package
hello,
My best friends father passed away last night and we would like to send his family food or some type of care package. Could anyone please recommend a restaurant or deli in oyster bay that could fulfill this type of request? Looking to spend around $100. Thanks in advance.
Where Can a Girl Get a Decent Po'Boy in This Town?!
I am sorry, I go it wrong. She said Vons, not Pavilions. I hope you did not buy any yet.
Where Can a Girl Get a Decent Po'Boy in This Town?!
I have not tried it, but my co-worker who is from NOLA says that Pavilions French Bread is the closest she has found to the real thing in LA.

Westside Breakfast
If you want to eat on the boardwalk, Figtree Cafe and Grill is pretty good. I have had some excellent breakfasts and I have had some so so, but the real draw is their 50% off deal from 8 - 9am everyday of the week.

Casual/Romantic in Santa Monica Area Late Night?
How about Manchego on Main Street? It is not as casual as The Galley, but it does meet your candle flame request and it is BYOB. It is open until 10 on the weekdays and 11 on the weekends.

Lunch ideas within walking distance of Paramount Studios on Melrose Ave.
If you go to Mario's, get the Lomo Saltado. If you want Mexican, go to Tere's not Lucy's. Tere's is excellent with standouts being their guacamole and the pork chile verde burrito. Osteria Mamma is walkable for Italian. If you want to go to Larchmont, the Dash runs roughly every 15 minutes from 11 - 2 in front of the Bronson gate and drops you off on the corner of Beverly and Larchmont. Larchmont Wine and Cheese has excellent sandwiches.

Driving from Tampa Intl to Boca Grande
Thanks for the recommendations, but we already left. My GF's family lives in Tampa, so I will definitely try Skyway Jack's at some point. Thanks again.

Driving from Tampa Intl to Boca Grande
Hello,
My girlfriend and I are flying into Tampa and driving down to Boca Grande. We are looking for a good breakfast place in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. My GF has become an omlette freak as of late, so any place that specializes in such is a plus. Also, if there is a unique/must-try place along the way, I would love to hear about it because we will have to make the drive back :) Thanks in advance for your help.
Union Square w/ Lots of Eating Restrictions
Unfortunately, she can not have soy sauce. I might sneak over since I love ramen, but the tofu and the soba won't work either. Thanks anyways.
Union Square w/ Lots of Eating Restrictions
Thank you for all of your replies. These places are exactly what I am looking for. My GF gets sad when we visit cities known for their restaurants and her diet does not allow her to enjoy the local cuisine. Thanks again for all of your help.
Union Square w/ Lots of Eating Restrictions
Hello,
My GF and I will be staying at the Clift Hotel in Union Square this weekend. She has many restrictions on what she can eat due to a medical condition. Essentially, she needs to eat a well balanced meal of equal parts protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates(Something we should probably all do anyways), but the seasonings need to be very simplistic. For example, she can have fish cooked in butter or olive oil only seasoned with salt or pepper, steamed vegetables, and a baked potato. Do any of you kind people know of any restaurants that are more open to accommodating such requests?
Westside Birthday Dinner W/ Lots of Food Restrictions
Thank you Wienermobile. We went to Paul Martin's last night and had a great dinner. My gf was able to eat their seafood platter and they made her a New York strip steak that she really enjoyed. The waitstaff was very accomodating and I scored some major points with her mom for finding a place that afforded a pleasurable dining experience given the situation. Thanks again.
Westside Birthday Dinner W/ Lots of Food Restrictions
Hello,
My gf's birthday is tomorrow and her mother wants to take her out to dinner. The problem is that she is on a very strict diet. She can eat any sort of meat, but it can only be prepared with salt, garlic powder, butter, and/or olive oil ( Not extra virgin ). She can also have broccoli, cauliflower, yellow squash, and/or cabbage. Lastly, she can have potatoes, basmati rice, and/or brown rice prepared in the same way as above. As you can see, these restrictions are very specific, but most kitchens should have some of these items.
My question is ... Does anybody know of a steakhouse or seafood restaurant that would be open to accomodating such requests on the westside? Just to give you fine people an idea, we went to Boa on Saturday and she was able to eat a steak with steamed broccoli and a baked potato. Thanks in advance for your help on this odd request.
Sports Bar With Good Food and NHL Center Ice
Just in case there are any other transplant hockey fans that live near Venice, The Sidewalk Cafe has the NHL package. I did not try the food, but their happy hour (4-7) menu was pretty cheap and Budweiser/Bud Light's are $2.50.
Sports Bar With Good Food and NHL Center Ice
Hello,
Does anybody know of a sports bar with good food and the NHL Center Ice package in the Santa Monica area? The Parlor has the package, but I go there a decent amount and wanted to try some place new. Thanks in advance.
Easter Brunch
Hello,
I will be visiting my parents in Scottsdale for Easter. We went to the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch last year and had a good time, but we would like to try something new. I have read a lot about the Wrigley mansion, but my parents live near Frank Lloyd Wright and Via Linda and would not want to drive that far. Does anybody know of a great brunch in the vicinity of their home? Oh, I loved the Princess, but my parents did not, so that is out. Thanks in advance.
Dodger Rally Cry, Philly Cheesesteak Battle, Philly West vs. The Shack
Dalessandro's is famous for their hot pepper spread. The picture you attached does not prove your point because it goes on the roll, is fantastic, and would be blocked by the meat.
Pupusas
I like Lidia's Pupuseria in Venice. It is pretty much on the boardwalk on Westminster. It is right across from Groundworks. The people who work there are really nice also.
AOC Tonight
Hello,
I am taking my girlfriend out tonight to AOC for a holiday dinner, since we won't be spending Christmas together. I have been searching around and it seems as if the cheese plate is not to be missed. Is there anything else that is highly recommended / A must have? We are both open to all types of food and price is not important. Thanks in advance.
Nice Dinner Westside W/ TV to Watch the World Series
My parents are coming up to LA from San Diego for the first time. They want to go out to a nice dinner on Wednesday, but it is game 1 of the World Series and we are all from Philadelphia. I already have a reservation at The Lobster ( I have never been ) and they said they have TV's in the bar area, but I feel like you go there for the views and if you are going to sit in the bar area, why not go somewhere else. Does anybody know of a nice place that would have good food and a TV to watch the game on the westside? I am open to all types of cuisine except mexican and price is not an issue. Thanks.
Dodger Rally Cry, Philly Cheesesteak Battle, Philly West vs. The Shack
Obviously you have never been to Dalessandro's in Roxborough.
