Paris Report--Latin Quarter, mostly

This was the second time we have been there. First 2 years ago. Tonight was terrible. The service is casual and friendly, but with the exception of dessert, all courses were not even acceptable. Blah, Blah. The touted veal in coucoutte was tasteless..never again.

rehearsal dinner

I need an informal, fun, very NYC place to entertain 12 out of town guests. We are having a serious $$ meal the night before so I am looking for a casual/ethnic spot...maybe Indian or Turkish..and inexpensive. Sharing platters would work nicely.

It can't be Japanese or Chinese. A private room would be nice too. Any thoughts out there?

Feedback on Paris reservations

went to le timbre last night and it was very good. be prepared- it is TINY- with an exposed kitchen 5ft sq! the food was quite good, with a very limited menu of 4 choices for each course. my husband had the blood sausage and loved it. the only drawback was a table of 6 loud/drunk Brits next to us, but that can happen anywhere. at least they weren't americans!

Feedback on Paris reservations

I am in Paris now, finishing two great weeks of food. I have had dinner at Chez Catherine, Mon Vieil Ami, and Le Petit Pontoise. They are all very good and are good values. However, I would caution you that Mon Vieil Ami and Le Petit Pontoise are full of American tourists. Of the three, Chex Catherine was my favorite.

A new find for us was L'Ami Jean with terrific Basque food in the 7th. You might also try Le Comptoir for luch, but go late, say 2:00 because they do not take reservations and it is mobbed.

We are going to Le timbre tonight so I will try to e-mail tomorrow. Have fun!
