Rambutans in Minnesota?

You guys are all awesome!! I'll have to go get some soon:)

Rambutans in Minnesota?

United Noodles just e-mailed me back saying fresh Rambutan season is over!! NO!! Has anyone seen any locally recently? I guess they're probably at the market over on Marion (if they were last week) hopefully!

Going to Panama- Where to eat?

I guess I missed out on Madame Chang's... Probably not veggie. Panama sure does have alot of Chinese food!! There's this open-aired Panamanian/chinese food restaurant in David that has good fried rice, they give you enough for 3 hungry people for $3. Johnny Cakes in Bocas are awesome too :D

Nicaragua Recommendations

Don Chaco's in Matagalpa-Ask for la bomba... it's a green smoothie, delicious. La hora del taco is also good for a nice Mexican place.

Going to Panama- Where to eat?

I know this is old: but.. I was just in Panama this summer... Bocas del Toro && Panama City. To eat I'd suggest Hotel La Coralina down on Bluff Beach Road out of Bocas Town-very good food, great place to stay. There are also other restaurants in Bocas that are lovely... Om Cafe serves Indian... In Panama City there is a really yummy Italian restaurant that's been there for years and they have now opened up chains...there's one in Albrook mall, but I can't seem to find the name. .. near via Espana.. I think. They have woodfire pizzas.. really cheap too.. $3.00 for a medium pizza with olive oil, garlic, tomatoes..yumm.

I went to Manolo Caracol in Casco Viejo (Casco Viejo is lovely-don't miss!) not for vegetarians, but they give you alot of food for $15.. 7 course meal (it's in Lonely Planet guide), but they're really missing out on ambiance. They kind of just threw the food at us. The style of the place is like grunge-chic warehouse. There are a lot of places.. even found a Denny's/Perkins like restaurant..." but the menu was unappealing to me.

Cheap and unique Kitchen supplies anyone? (Daiso Store, Daly City)

I just found out about Daiso.. I wish they'd open one up in the Twin Cities/Minneapolis/St Paul area!! :(

[MSP] Japanese Dollar Store? Cooking Cute...

I highly doubt that we have any Japanese dollar stores here in Minnesota, but my mom found one in TX on a trip once and I know they have them in Seattle. Check out this blog I just found... bento boxes and all of these "cute" girly food... http://mmmbento.livejournal.com/ & http://www.cookingcute.com
Anyways, Japanese dollar stores sell all of these bento boxes, cute chopsticks, etc. I know this sounds juvenile. I was just wondering! (Maybe I need to find a shopping board..?) lol!

My mom brought home leftovers the other day... delicious! :-D I don't remember what it was called though... they give you a ton of rice if you order just rice. So cheap too.

24-hour food in MSP?

haha good point :) I'm not exactly sure, but salad is good. I think I had a sandwich too... I don't remember. I think I had soup...maybe the soup wasn't too great. :? I'll have to try again. Both times I ordered the headache tea so maybe that's why. :-D I didn't like the guys in the front of the place harrassing me && staring through the window, but that's not their fault...

Rambutans in Minnesota?

YAY I bet it will beat the $80 for 8lbs from Hawaii! ;-)

Rambutans in Minnesota?

I've been to so many oriental markets, but I haven't even heard of United Noodles. And, I'll have to get ahold of Kowalskis. Wow I'm so excited!! THANKS so much :-D

[MSP] Vegetarian friendly-Good tasting?

Thanks Anne! The Vegetarian is VERY Good, too bad it's in the location it is :( doesn't seem like they get enough business. Holy Land Deli NE MPLS.. man there are alot more... just trying to think of some I haven't been to.. I haven't been to, or heard of a bunch of those.. I'll have to check them out!

Best Twin Cities Mexican/Latin American Cuisine?

Ok, maybe there are really good places, it's hard when you're vegetarian!

I guess Lake Street... I just heard the Resource Center for the Americas closed down :'( I didn't see anything too appealing at Midtown Market when I was there a few months ago.

24-hour food in MSP?

You know I've eaten there twice..relatively late hours, didn't really like what I had... I think maybe it was the salad dressing that turned me off, not sure. What is your favorite thing at Hard Times Cafe?

[MSP] Vegetarian friendly-Good tasting?

Ok, so I know Pizza Luce is veg friendly, Village Wok is awesome... used to go there once a week, still try to ;) Eccopolitan is the best (thanks Dr. T!) and I know there are a few more places, but haven't really found anything I liked awhole lot.... So please if you can give your suggestions I'd love it :-D!

Rambutans in Minnesota?

I recently had Rambutans on a trip to Panama and now I miss them... I think they can be shipped from Hawaii to here, fresh, but I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen them around the Twin Cities? Like at any of the Thai markets? Hmm.. I know they sell them in cans, haven't tried them yet. My mom says Trader Joes has them freeze-dried, haven't tried that yet either. I kinda doubt we have any here, but thought I'd ask. I want some fresh rambutans... & mamoncillos..yummmm.
Thanks!

Parmigiano–Black Pepper Popcorn

I just made this and am eating it now.. YUMMY! Except it would have been better if I dug out the air popper... I used the stove-top. Thanks:-D

Kabobs Minneapolis

After driving all over Bloomington/Richfield area to find a bite to eat and had remembered what we had read about Kabobs in City Pages like a day prior, so we tried it. Wow was it good!! I feel as if I overate and still had leftovers.. (just ate some of it for lunch..still have more!) We ordered from the vegetarian menu.. had the Vegetable Biryani, for $5.99 they sure give you alot of food, it was presented quite nicely too.. with tomato slices, and other veggies. We also ordered (forget the name now) a dish that was vegetables in tomato sauce, it was pretty good too, both were really hot and fresh! Then we also ordered two things of Naan thinking they'd each by 1/4 of what they really were. For $1.25 I bet you could make a pizza with it better than that Boboli(sp?) stuff. Anyways, if you can get past the four tables & enjoy the flavors it's awesome! ! ! ! Very good. I noticed it was pretty busy with takeout orders. I plan on eating there & taking out again in the future!!
:-D
