2010 Zagat choice empty on a Saturday night?

When we peaked in the window and saw one lone person at the bar and the restaurant empty, we made an abrupt change in plans! Headed back towards Waterloo and had great fish and chips at Master's Super Fish.

2010 Zagat choice empty on a Saturday night?

We recently traveled to Shepherd's Bush while in London to dine at the Princess Victoria. It had a very nice mention in the 2010 Zagat guide as well as many favorable reviews online.

We found the place, at 22:30 on a Saturday night, to be totally empty!

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this establishment?

Thanks!

Gastropubs and kids after 18:00

Hi-
We are going to be in London in a few weeks with my 17 and 13 year old children. I have reservations at a place called Princess Victoria that was recommended in Zagat.

While searching some restaurant review sites, I came across a listing for the Princess Victoria that stated that children are welcome until 18:00.

Being that our reservation is for 20:00, I am concerned about what they mean by "children". Do you think they mean young children who might be disruptive to other diners, or is that due to a pub atmosphere and they don't want children under the legal drinking age?

I have contacted the restaurant but have not heard back and am curious of others opinions on the topic.

Thanks!

Any recommendations for casual lunch near Sofitel?

We are looking for lunch spots near the Sofitel. We would prefer a place with creative sandwiches and salads. Walking distance from the Sofitel is a plus!

Thanks!

Spago reservations-- too easy?

Maybe its becuase I have had to set alarms at 10:00 am one month before I want to eat at NYC restaurants like Babbo, but I find it hard to believe that I can still have my pick of times on Open Table for tables at Spago for next week. I read nothing but great reviews of the place, so I would expect it to be packed.

Are there certain days or times that are slow? If we go at 8:00 on a Sunday night, are we going to find the restaurant busy?

Thanks!

Where to eat after visiting Boston University?

We really enjoyed the sticky buns and muffins at Flour Bakery, and our afternoon ice cream break at JP Licks. Dinner was pretty good at Le Sel de la Terre as well.

I've got to say that after visiting cities all over the US and Europe, we were stunned by how beautiful Boston is. Seriously, folks...you should be SO proud of your wonderful city!

Where to eat after visiting Boston University?

Hi- thanks for all of your replies. We are headed to Boston tomorrow, and we plan to find Flour bakery for breakfast, and we have reservations at Sel de le Terre for dinner. I'm also excited to find some ice cream in the afternoon, but am undecided whether to head to Cambridge for Toscanini's or to find a JPLicks.College visitis are great-- we're just eating our way across the country!

Any must-try restaurants for UCLA visit?

As we are obsessed with Tom Colicchio's 'wichcraft cookbook, I know my son would love to eat at Craftbar.

Does anyone know if they take reservations there? I can't find it on their website.

Thanks!

Where to eat after visiting Boston University?

My son and I will be visiting Boston University, and I am looking for a good place to have dinner before we head to the airport.

We are willing to walk or take public transportation, so I guess we can venture away from the University area. We're not at all familiar with Boston.

We are finished at BU at 3 pm, and our flight home is at 9:00 pm.

We love good food, and aren' t picky eaters, so we are open to suggestions!

Thanks!

Any must-try restaurants for UCLA visit?

My son and I are going to be in LA in Sept. to visit UCLA and USC. We will be staying in the Westwood area at the Palomar Hotel. We will not have a car, and are willing to walk or take a taxi when need be.

I am looking for restaurants for 2 nights where you can get delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere. Nothing too fancy. It doesn't have to be cheap, but I don't want to break the bank either.

We aren't picky eaters, and we enjoy good food.

Thanks for any advice that you can offer!

Northwestern Evanston campus visit...feed us!

My son and I are in the process of visiting colleges this summer, and we are enjoying the search for lunch in each location.

We have about an hour and a half in the mid-afternoon before we need to return to the airport.

Any good pizza places within walking distance of the campus? We are also open to any other types of food ideas as well.

Thanks!

Mon Vieil Ami

I had questioned the concierge at the hotel we will be staying at about Mon Vieil Ami, as I had seen reports that it was closed.

He told me that it had changed owners, but was still very good and he would recommend it. We plan to give it a try.

Best way to make a reservation?!

I have been obsessed with my restaurant plans for our trip in July.

I was able to email my list to the hotel concierge, and they very graciously agreed to make the reservations for me. They said it was still too early to book, but they put it on their calender.

I also found that a Google search of the restaurants some times provided an email address that I hadn't previously found. I was then able to email a few of the restaurants directly.

Good luck!

Le Pamphlet info please

Can anyone tell me if Le Pamphlet has re-opened after being closed for flooding? I really would like to try it on our upcoming trip.

Thank you!

Can you help me spot some winners here?

I am astounded and overwhelmed with the dining choices in Paris. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on any of these establishments to help me narrow my choices! Thanks so much.
Maceo
L'Ardoise
Bofinger (Too touristy? Its in every guidebook, for heaven's sake!)
Bistrot Paul-Bert
Au Bon Accueil
L'Aoc
L'epi Dupin
La Bastide Odeon
Chez L'ami Jean
Au Bascou
Au Gamin de Paris

I would love to just go free-style and see where we end up, but with 2 kids and a vegetarian in the family, I'm better off with some solid plans!
