sedona v flagstaff

Ok my BFFFF Beachchick, you never steer me wrong! Thanks for the Wilma's suggestion in PS, now we are off to Sedona in July. Should I just stay at Arabella and not research any other hotels. If there is a great restaurant on site then I am just peachy. Smooches

Blue Ribbon Pizzeria

Our favorite pizza ever! Have to get 2 of the staff favorite because the kids love it so much. Also the Little Gems Caesar with the breadcrumbs is delicious too. Happy Hour is a fantastic deal if you can get there early enough.

Nobody suggested the Neighborhood?? A burger and an awesome cocktail. I've been to Ruth's Chris for dinner wearing flip flops and sand on my feet. I love not having the OC/LA vibe here.

Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage

Adored Wilma and Frieda's today. Had the short rib Benedict, the meatloaf n eggs, cheeseburger and the 5 cheese Mac n cheese. Everything was wonderful !!!!
Friday night we had a lovely dinner at Wally's Desert Turtle. Husband had their foie gras and pork tenderloin, I had the French onion soup and the liver and ad onions, kids had the Caesar salad and the Vongole. Dessert was the Grand Marnier soufflé, chocolate lava cake and a complimentary dessert for my son's birthday.

Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage

We will be staying at the Marriott Shadowridge this weekend and I am looking for a dinner spot for Saturday night. We are going to Wally's on Friday, so nothing too $$$ on Saturday. Flexible to cuisine, just not Mexican (live in San Diego and we have many fabulous restaurants). There will be 8 of us including 2 food adventurous children. I def want to squeeze in breakfast at Wally and Frieda's at some point :).

Giant Lima Beans

Since we are still on this HOT legume topic... Here is final dish: beans topped with feta, bacon, cilantro, garlic and tomato

Giant Lima Beans

Very true! and for the record I did not order 10 bags of RCs but I ordered some of our other favorites. These are Gucci beans indeed!

Giant Lima Beans

Yes so I ordered 10 bags to justify the price difference with Seaside where they are $6.99 /lb:) but then I saved on gas too. This is my second big order from them and very happy. The beans are in the slow cooker today after an overnight soak. A $5.95 bag makes quite a substantial side dish or even a meal if you want to add other things to it. I love the Scarlet Runners and Ayocote Morados, they cook up big and meaty too.

Giant Lima Beans

I just got my shipment of Rancho Gordo Royal Coronas yesterday. They are HUGE even dry. They sometimes have them at Seaside market in Cardiff but 2 weeks ago they did not have them. If you love beans it is worth ordering a few varieties to try.

Week in Escondido/San Diego

Next time you are in town ( I have 2 kids) and take them everywhere : The Wooden Spoon, Bellows, Cucina del Charro, Roma Market, Northgate market or Vallarta (just a grocery store but great tacos inside), Ali Baba (Iraqi food), Vintana patio outside. We have great mexican food, HdV is good but we go there for setting. Stone Brew has become a giant PITA to go there with all the beer bus tours. There are some tiny tiny taco shops and mariscos places that I can suggest. Bull taco in Oceanside too

No kids then: Vintana inside, The Bellows and get extra cocktails, Bellamy's, Stone Brewery but make a reservation, Land and Water company in Carlsbad (HEAVENLY..amazing), Paon

Lunch in Carlsbad

Loved Paon and I really really really want to go to Land and Water. I actually really liked Green Dragon Tavern, great space inside and very good lobster roll.

The Wooden Spoon in Escondido

It is on East Valley right next to Wedekin's bakery and we sat outside. We got there at 5:30 but inside was full already, it is tiny. Think of a taqueria shop with an order counter and a handful of tables that got converted. The outside patio is nice. It is very relaxed.

The Wooden Spoon in Escondido

We (2 adults and 2 kids) went last Saturday to check it out and had a fantastic meal. I think the articles in UT and Eater have served as great advertising.
Started with cream of tomato soup, salt and vinegar pork rinds, pork belly toast with pesto and aoli. Entrees were the spoon burger, the lamb shepherds pie, the Japanese eggplant and the 4 cheese grilled cheese. Dessert consisted of chocolate chip cookies made to order with cold organic whole milk, butterscotch budino. Keeping the review simple because we want to go back. Nice and rustic outdoor seating with heaters, casual. It was busy!!!!!
Best of luck to the chef

Coming from LA for a few days...

In Little Italy: I would go to Bencotto/Juniper and Ivy/ Ironside Fish and Oyster
Point Loma: Point Loma Seafood because it is a fun area and you could go to the lighthouse after.
La Jolla: George's the top outdoor area for a spectacular view and good food
Tadokoro sushi or Sushi Ota for sushi..must eat uni, it is really good in SD
I think you would have fun at the Little Italy Farmer's market
