Need bakery that specializes in 1st birthday cakes, i.e. smash cakes

Thank you all for your replies! So helpful - we ended up getting referred by family to Porto Bakery in Burbank. Many cake options to choose from, and the sales people were very helpful and patient. We went with a Tres Leches cake, which I've had before and is amazing. Cost for a 1/2 sheet decorated, $63. They didn't do smash cakes, so we are going to go cheap and get one from a grocery store for her to destroy. Hopefully, the party goes off without a hitch! Thanks again!

Starvin' in San Diego

If you want a great dessert place where you can enjoy some exquisite pastry confections over a rich cup of coffee and good conversation, check out Extraordinary Desserts in Hillcrest/Balboa Park area.

And, for coffee, nothing beats Pacific Bean at the very end of Garnet near the Pier in Pacific Beach. Make sure to get the homemade chocolate whip cream on top of whatever you are ordering. So yummy!!!

Old L.A.- Where would Bogie eat?

Hello fellow Seattleite! I would check out Musso & Frank's on Hollywood. A very old Hollywood steak house. Also, the Formosa Cafe is very old Hollywood as well (was featured in the movie L.A. Confidential). http://formosacafe.com/

And if you want good Thai, check out Chao Krung on Fairfax or a little hole in the wall in Santa Monica on SM Blvd - Talay Thai. Chao Krung has much better atmosphere, but my boyfriend who is Thai loves Talay Thai.

Have a great trip!

Need bakery that specializes in 1st birthday cakes, i.e. smash cakes

My daughter is turning 1 in a few weeks and I am looking for a reasonably-priced bakery near West LA that has great-tasting cakes. Also, I really want to get her her own small "smash" cake as well. Any suggestions of bakeries that might fit the bill or specialize in small children's birthday cakes?
