Chef Jia's [San Francisco]

I noticed Chef Jia's is now closed. :-( Are there any places in Chinatown with shrimp fried rice prepared in a similar style? That was my fav place and I'm not sure where to go for fried rice now.

Tea leaves

My brewing skills are minimal. I just put tea in my infuser and the infuser in the pot with water at the suggested time and temperature.

I'm curious as to the differences between the Rishi and the Seven Cups? What do you get going up to the next level?

Chinese sticky rice with peanuts in banana leaf in San Diego?

Actually I was looking for zongzi. They have it at Ranch 99 but it's not that good. I go up to San Francisco once a year to get my fix now.

Tea leaves

Thanks for the tea tips! I'll have to try them when my current stash runs low. I really like Rishi brand jasmine and oolong I found on amazon.com. I also found this awesome floral tea named Siberian Rose at this tea shop in San Francisco named the Vital Tea Leaf. https://vitaltealeaf.net/

Whole Foods Insulated Reusable Bag - opinions?

I went to Palm Springs last month with my trusty Igloo cooler. It was over 100 outside. Bought some ice cream from the local supermarket and packed it in the cooler with ice. After a 20 minute drive to the house the outside of the cooler hot enough to hurt your hand. Inside the cooler the ice cream was soft and a small amount of ice melted. Without the cooler filled with ice I'm sure the ice cream would have all melted.

Do you eat fortune cookies? Does anyone?

Get a bunch of almond cookies too. They are alot better than store bought ones.

It's better than a poke in the eye and you won't starve. ;-)

Do you eat fortune cookies? Does anyone?

Mmm... Cookies... Whenever I go to San Francisco I go to the fortune cookie factory and get enough to fill my suitcase. When I get home I put them in air tight containers so I'll have delicious cookies for the next 2 months. :-)

It's almost time for the Chinese Moon Festival and Ranch 99 has almost 20 different brands of mooncakes for sale. Anybody have suggestions on the best brand to get for a plain lotus seed mooncake?

Website for Personal Recipe Storage?

I use Evernote. Very handy to have at the supermarket. When I see a good deal on meat or fish I can check my recipes to see if I need any additional ingredients.

Best fried rice and pan fried noodles in or near Chinatown?

Hi! I'm visiting for a week in the last week of June and will be staying near Chinatown. I'll be relying on the bus and cable cars for transportation. I visited a few years ago and had some great fried rice at Chef Jia's. Any suggestions on where to go for bbq pork or roast duck fried rice? I also had some really good Hong Kong style bbq pork pan fried noodles at Great Eastern restaurant. Any suggestions on where to go for bbq pork or roast duck pan fried noodles?

I reheated the fried turkey in the over following the directions and it turned out great! It was spicier than the Butterball turkey we normally get at Vons and oven roast.

Fried turkey?

Thanks for the tip! I'm curious as to how spicy the spicy turkey is? At Popeyes I always get the mild chicken as the spicy is too spicy for me.

Fried turkey?

Thanks for the tips! With the Costco turkey would you just heat it in the oven when it's serving time? For the Popeyes turkey do you preorder it or do you just show up and ask for one?
