Grass-fed meat in bulk?

I'd also call Maple Avenue Market in Vienna. An amazing store that only carries local meat/veg. The owners are super helpful. My CSA share comes from them, and the meats they source are PERFECT. www.mapleavenuemarket.com/

Present in Falls Church

Had such a great dinner last night so am bumping this up. I love Vietnamese food and right now Present is besting Minh's as the all-around best experience. Service was excellent. we had the spring rolls, calamari (perfect!), grilled shrimp with vermicelli and the tamarind duck. The flavors were fresh and bright. Such a gem.

ISO Family friendly restaurant in/near Foggy Bottom

I have taken my three-year old and 14 month old to both Founding Farmers and Tonic. Of course, we go early, and eat quick, like any experienced parent of little people! Otherwise there are plenty of quick places to eat in Foggy Bottom (ex: Au Bon Pain).

Shady Grove to Olney, recommendations requested.

Olney Ale House has serviceable burgers in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. It is actually where I have been treated to lunch when helping a friend move to Olney!

Falls Church Area Recs?

All the above rec's are good ones. I'd add Dogfish Head Alehouse, Sunfllower Vegetarian and Bamian (for Afghani food.)

Best Mac and Cheese in DC?

Founding Farmers has a great mac and cheese (also has the lobster option, but you can get it plain and simple).

Suggestions for Alexandria restaurant week?

Both places are very good. For casual, Eammons is a great quick fish-and-chips stop. PX is wonderful for cocktails. Brabo is another good place to check out, which has an attached butcher shop with charcuterie, wines and cheeses. Old Town is fun, enjoy yourself!

Outdoor deliciousness

Getting a night out sans kids. We love to eat and because of the season, would like to try and have an outdoor seating option for our dinner (the food has to be good, but if the weather changes and we are indoors...we still want a great meal!) For many reasons, I am drawing a complete blank. Any recs?

High Tea in DC

Recently had a wonderful high tea at the Jefferson. The setting is amazing, the tea is great and I can't recommend it enough.

Prom dinner suggestions for Alexandria

Columbia Firehouse, Majestic, Vermillion and Southside would all be places where they would have fun.

XO Taste

live within a mile of XO Taste, and always have great food. Last order was soft noodle roll w/ XO sauce, beef congee, veg. chow fun and spicy shrimp and scallops. Everything was great... but if you are doing take out and have to drive any further than 5 mins, don't order the fried dishes as they will suffer for the travelling and become soggy.

Korean eats in Annandale

Lighthouse Tofu & BBQ makes their own tofu, and the soups are amazing.

Honey Pig for the atmosphere and the pork belly. Also, its open 24 hours!!!

Guidance requested...

If you are close to the Vietnam or Lincoln memorial during lunch, Tonic, in Foggy Bottom, is good. Moderate in price with good food and atmosphere.

Looking for great roast chicken in Arlington or Alexandria, VA

If you are looking for american-style roast chicken, Sweetwater Tavern is good (in Merrifield at the intersection of Gallows and 50). If peruvian is what you are looking for, Pollo Rico in Arlington is great, but not quiet.

Need Recommendation for Authentic Korean Rest.

Honey Pig is fantastic. Lighthouse Tofu (also in Annandale) is also great, esp. the soups. Yum.

Downtown DC - cheap eats, no car, toddler in tow...a recipe for disaster?

Teaism, Ella's and Matchbox are all at the Capitol end of the Mall and are good and toddler-friendly. Towards the Lincoln Monument end, Tonic has a nice lunch and is ok for kids.

Courthouse-Clarendon-Ballston Carryouts

Me Jana in Courthouse has carryout, with lots of vegetarian options. Toscana is in Courthouse, and it is all organic, with both veg and vegan options. They do carryout as well.

Outdoor eating and good spot for large groups

Tabard Inn in DC has a good brunch and a lovely setting.
701 might be a good place for the group dinner. Mortons is pricey, but can handle a group better than most restaurants. Yummy creamed spinach....mmmmmm.
Cafe du Parc in DC has a nice outdoor seating area, and is right by the white house.

Lunch by the museums?

Mitsisam at the Am. Indian museum.
The recently renovated Natural History museum has a decent cafe.
Tonic in foggy bottom is great... everything from burgers to pasta. It is within walking distance from the Vietnam Memorial and the Lincoln memorial.
Teaism is informal and yummy.

Best steak place in Washington DC for a large group of guys

My husband dines out like this often. Loud, wine & large steaks.... good times...
Any Mortons will do a private room for you, no extra cost. Be as loud as you want and stay as long as you want.
Smith & Wollenskys tolerates a very high level of exuberance from its patrons (esp. if you order a lot of wine)
Ray's the Steaks was my husband's pick w/ friends just a week ago. They had a great time, and the 9:30 reservation allowed them to circumvent the two-hour table turnover time....and they could be much louder than id dining earlier.

Restaurant for graduation - have specific requirements

Clyde's in Gallery Place
Bistro du Coin in Dupont
Tonic in Foggy Bottom
Congrats! have a fun day!

downtown dc / metro-friendly restaurants that accommodate food allergies

My cousin has celiac disease and Clyde's was able to accommodate her nicely, they had several choices. Mid-priced american food. It is a local chain, but reliable and nice surroundings.

Arlington -- Minerva Express Opening!

Just finnished a delish dinner from Minerva Express. Of note, they have masala chai.... excellent! We had the channa masala, biryani and butter chicken. The raita is HOT HOT HOT, so yummy. The biryani was also very hot and complex.
Dinner for three was $27, excellent value. So happy this place is in the neighborhood!
Also, you can park in the Domino's lot, there are several spots reserved for the A-1 store.

Can you recommend a place in DC that I won't feel out of place in a great dress and heels?

DC: BLT Steak, CItronelle (if that is your second date you are doing REALLY well), Rasika, Tosca for lovely italian, Ardour.
Heading to VA- hmmm... maybe Eve, nothing in Clarendonish area comes to mind...

Sunday brunch in Arlington

Can't think of a brnch place in Rosslyn, but two or three metro stops up the orange line puts you at Harry's Tap Room, with a very nicely done brunch.

Alexandria Olde Town

Vermillion on King St. has great lunch specials and interesting drinks. American. For good indian, hop in your car and head to the Del Ray neigborhood in Alexandria and visit Bombay Curry Company. For Vietnamese, Minh's in Arlington is good food in a nice setting (service can be erratic but the food is worth it) or drive to Eden Center in Seven Corners and take your pick of several great places. Song que is a vietnamese "deli" there with take-out Bahn mi and other assorted goodies. Have fun!

Metro 29 Diner's Pastries and Cakes (NoVa)

Yep, they make their own. Also, they make the pudding from scratch.... delicious and reminds you that pudding from a mix is awful!

Foodie with less adventurous friends

Commonwealth Pub is a "gastropub" good food and good beer. I'll second Matchbox for good american food and a good list of beers. If you find yourself in Georgetown, Clyde's is part of a local chain where the food is reliable and moderatly priced. If they are willing to try it Brasserie Beck has a fantastic selection of belgian beers, you can get the moules and they can have steak frites!
