Looking for BEST BBQ in LA (WeHo/Hollywood/mid-Wishire/Santa Monica/Venice/West LA/Bev Hills/Downtown)

Baby Blues is too seasoned for my taste. The Beef Brisket is laughable. They DID get the sweet tea correct, though. Although a bit pricey, I prefer Cecil's Ribs and fixins'. I will sample the others listed above and get back to you. (Wood Ranch is just 'meh' for 'franchise-food').

Santa Monica Breakfast?

Jinky's may make a good omelette...but they are verrry overrated and not worth spending the $dough$ (in my opinion). I, for one, enjoyed my 'less fancy' breakfast at Fromin's...spending half the $$ and getting excellent sides and 'real' bread. Deli 'good' without the cost or attitude. Speaking of a good breakfast without 'attitude'...I'll go to Snug Harbor anytime.

Right to the Point - Good. Cheap. Sitdown.

Jinky's? Cheap?!? I'd love to have your budget, friend...I was in Jinky's for breakfast the other day. I had a tasty omelette (Chik & herbs), awful potatoes, and toast from a bag. All for around $20!!!! They even charged a buck-fifty for for a 'hot-water set-up'. What a waste...especially with soooo many good eateries in this city. Cheap? hah!

Family eateries in Santa Monica this Sunday?

I also agree that Fritto Misto is the top choice. Their portions seem more than generous to me at a reasonable price (esp. for the LA-Westside). You might also consider Urth Cafe on Main Street for great organic food (large portions here too) , people-watching, wonderful teas & coffees, and the LA scene vibe.

Hoagies & Wings

"IS THAT IT?"...asked the guy on the phone after I ordered a steak hoagie combo and 12 wings for pick-up. "Is that it?"...I thought to myself after sampling the goods! Someone 'local' is writing the reviews for this place?!? Hmmmmm...my taste buds indicated an 'OK' hoagie, one that would have appealed more to me a few years back as a starving undergrad.....and lemon-pepper wings tasted like 'Lemon Pledge'. Yuucck! (this was the Venice location). I had sampled the same fare at LaCienega sometime earlier and enjoyed the slightly dry, small, but tasty wings, and indistinctive hoagie. This place is NOT expensive, that's good....but you get what you pay for! Not worth a repeat for me unless I want to get that 'Lemon Pledge' tingle in my mouth......
