Looking for yummy Matzoh Ball Soup in Midtown..
I did a search in the Manhattan boards for Matzoh Ball soup. I'm looking for a good place to get it in Midtown. Is that possible? I've had it from Mendy's in Rock Center before but was wondering if there was any place else. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Also now that the weather is turning to fall- looking for good soup places, other than hale & hearty...
Top Chef Sept. 12th. >>SPOILER<<
Sometimes I think the judges are super harsh but I find them funny too. I love AB and I like TC but I've eated at both of their restaurants and have had less than stellar meals at both so it annoys me when they are so critical. They don't run perfect establishments.
Anyone see the pic on the front of the NYT Styles section yesterday. Padma and Russell Simmons were looking cozy at NYC Fashion Week.
Voyage....delicious, but don't use the WC
What's the saying...if the WC is nasty and that's a room they let the customers see/use, what on earth do you think the kitchen looks like (the room they don't let you see).
Bar American - Tired
That's disappointing to hear that you feel that way. I've only recently tried Bar Americain for the first time and I enjoyed it. I am going again on Monday and I'm looking forward to trying some new items. Went to Mesa for restaurant week last summer and was not blown away but I don't know if restaurant week is a good gauge.
Food Smuggling
my MIL always bring soda with her - a can either in her purse or a small cooler- most places don't serve caffiene free diet soda.
Bugs in broccoli
I once was eating my leftovers of broccoli and cavatelli from a restuarant and only then noticed a sauteed catepiller. YIKES! I'm very careful about cleaning my broccoli and won't ever eat at that restaurant again.

LS is on the water. You have to drive to the one in point pleasant but you can boat to the one in toms river. I think the pp one has a nice atmosphere. not sure if the toms river one is renovated but it's been years since i've been to that one.

Red's has great lobster salad sandwiches. I think it's a little pricey but it is good quality fresh seafood.
The lobster shanty is my favorite. it's recently renovated and they did a great job. It's nice if you get a window seat at night. good lobster bisque- all their dinners are good imo. and they have flaming desserts made tableside which is fun- watch your eyebrows though.
i've been to the shrimp box, the wharfside and they haven't wowed me. not sure if rockefella's is still open but they had good food. also europa south and spano's are good. denise foy used to have a place on arnold but i think it closed.
What do Chowhounds do for a living (besides eat of course)?
I'm a media planner/buyer for a publishing house. i love when I get to work on cookbooks (which isn't often enough). i love working in manhattan and i love trying new places here. as far as i'm concerned- nyc is where it's at. both my husband and I are foodies. we love love love to go out to eat. and we love to cook. we really only splurge when we go on vacation. I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money on a daily dinner (by splurge I mean $200+ on dinner for the two of us). But oh it's so much fun!!!
Tasty Chinese Food in Midtown
Looking for good place for chinese lunch in Midtown. Criteria: between 38th & 48th, 6th and Madison. Food has to be freshly prepared, i.e. not buffet style, no prepared vats of food. Would like to sit down in restaurant. Place must be clean. Price not really an issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lunch specials are a bonus but not required. Thanks :)
First Las Vegas Trip Coming Up - 20 somethings
Hands down my fave steak place is Delmonico's in the Venetian. It's an Emeril restaurant. The portions are large, the food is fab and the prices are up there but so worth it in my opinion. We go to Vegas every year and last year we tried all new places and could kick ourselved for not going back to Delmonico's.
Also fun is the Voo Doo Lounge on top of the Rio. The food is great (cajun/seafood) and there is an outside bar on the 50th floor. Great Views.
I have never been to the Palms but always hear great reviews of N9NE and would like to try it next time we're there (Sept)
