Baby/toddler-friendly non-chain restaurants? Is Golden State really stroller-friendly? We have a young infant that we are trying to dine-out with... how busy would Golden State be at noon on a Sunday? |

saturday evening for 6 people. |

Suggestions for a foodie birthday dinner location either in Mid-City or Westside that would be affordable... ~$10-15 per person without drinks? Friendly place for older adults (i.e. not too loud) |

best steakhouse for those of us with a budget I read through several older threads about the best steakhouse in LA, price no object... I looked up the online menus for Wolfgang's and Cut, and both do not display their prices... what would be the average cost per person (without drinks) at these places? Looking for a good steakhouse where we can spend <$40/person (just for the entree/sides). Thanks! |

last minute reservation at a tapas restaurant? many of these places don't take reservations... what is Yamadaya like for walk-ins on a Friday night? |

last minute reservation at a tapas restaurant? yay I was able to get reservations for 7pm at Red Medicine. this might be a bit too early but it's a good Plan A. thanks for all the suggestions! |

last minute reservation at a tapas restaurant? No reasonable reservations available at Rustic Canyon nor Manhattan Beach Post. Are these places doable as walk-ins? |

last minute reservation at a tapas restaurant? we were just at Lukshon and Sunny Spot doesn't have any tables until 10:30pm. :( |

last minute reservation at a tapas restaurant? We're looking for a reservation for 3 for tomorrow night (Friday), at a fun unique restaurant on the west side. I really wanted to try Picca because our guest likes tapas, but their only availability is 6pm (too early) or 9:45pm (too late). Any recommendations for a place with great food, ethnic preferred, fun drinks and atmosphere, on the westside that we could get a reservation for tomorrow night? We have an out-of-town guest so anything that highlights LA would be great. |

birthday dinner for mom? mid-city we are looking for a nice restaurant to take my mom for her birthday, this sunday. near mid-city/hollywood/west-hollywood/beverly/3rd area. we currently have reservations for Lucques' Sunday Supper, which seems like a great deal, but i wanted another option because some people in our group have already been there. we've also been to Eva for their sunday dinner. thought about Hatfield's, but seems a bit out of our price range. |

i've had just about the worst service i've ever experienced at Jar and will never be back. |

best brunch mid-city to east-LA-ish i've really enjoyed Square One but looking for a new place that hopefully won't have a ridiculous line on the weekend... been to Toast, Doughboy's, Grub, Blu Jam, and Griddle Cafe. looking for something better, in this general vicinity, or a little more east. ----- |

Hollywood Pies - FINALLY some decent Chicago Pizza in LA tried it again last night and actually the crust was much much better! not so crunchy and hard this time around! DELISH. |

Hollywood Pies - FINALLY some decent Chicago Pizza in LA interesting... i guess it's fine to not try to recreate and it's one thing to go for an extra crispy crust but bordering on hard? seems like not the best business model... |

Finally checked this place out today! First of all, it's really hard to spot from the street. The sign is tiny and barely visible. It's the unit directly south of the Papa John's on Westwood. That said, it was worth the circling! We had the carnitas torta and the grilled cheese and pumpkin soup, with a side of potato salad, plus the lemonade and iced tea. The carnitas torta was fantastic. The bread was sort of falling apart making it a little messy to eat but the flavors were amazing. The grilled cheese with the apple and brussel sprouts were amazing as well. The pumpkin soup was good but pretty watery and quite spicy in a way that overpowered the pumpkin. The potato salad was perhaps the biggest disappointment. The potatoes were overcooked and it was overall bland... needed more seasoning. The iced tea has a weird syrupy taste and the lemonade was very tart... Basically, GREAT for sandwiches and everything else falls short. |

Hollywood Pies - FINALLY some decent Chicago Pizza in LA Having lived in Chicago for 7 years, and my husband 11... Hollywood Pies is fairly close to the real thing. But the crust was a little overcooked and hard. More similar to Pizzeria Uno's crust. Has that bisquick/cornbread taste and texture. Not exactly a replacement but still very tasty! We tried the spinach and capone. ----- |

good eats around Convention Center Hi- We're staying around the Convention Center, where we'll be attending a conference most of next week. Looking for good cheap eats nearby... ideally walking distance... |

Sadly, we went back one year later and things have gone downhill. I had been dreaming about the cochinita pibil but this time around, it was dry and not as flavorful. Probably too lean. and then the banuelos... they are now called churros and they were just average churros. So disappointed. |

where to take foodie, last minute, westside we need a place that can accommodate a medium-sized group (maybe around 10 people) tomorrow (Thursday night) or Friday night. there will be at least one out-of-town foodie (from Seattle) so looking for something "special" or "LA" on the westside. casual, fun, GOOD FOOD, easy on the pocket, like <$20/entree. Rustic Canyon and Gjelina won't have availability. What about Warszawa? ----- Gjelina |

Sunday dinner for medium sized group, $40/person actually i didn't have any wine because i had a little too much at the wedding reception the day before. :) but my sister's mother-in-law refused to drink the rose, instead of white... at least one person said the rose was good... i just think they should have offered a different white if they ran out of the original white. also, i found out that they charged an arm and a leg for the coffee/tea service after dinner... which is NOT included. not tasteful, IMHO. |

Sunday dinner for medium sized group, $40/person YUM. we ended up at Eva yesterday, with our group of 12 for their prix fixe. we started out with caesar salad. then braised chicken with carrot puree, then short ribs with horseradish, zucchini, potato puree, and apple crisp. the chicken was quite possibly the best chicken i have ever had. cooked perfectly. tender, juicy. and the dessert was stellar as well. in fact, everything was good but the chicken really stood out. they appeared to run out of white wine pretty early on and started serving a rose, which i thought was weird, but other than that, it was a PERFECT setting for a post-wedding celebration with immediate family. thanks for all the help!! |

early sunday brunch by marina del rey reporting back... we ended up being a group of 7 and went to Casa Del Mar's Catch... we had a great table, right by the large windows facing the ocean. the setting was beautiful but the food was disappointing. i had the chicken hash and it was dry and unflavorful. had to add a bunch of pico de gallo to make it more edible. ----- |

early sunday brunch by marina del rey Our group has shrunk in size and so Gjelina won't take reservations for us... but we might try Fig. or Casa Del Mar's Catch. ----- Gjelina |

Sunday dinner for medium sized group, $40/person this only dietary restriction is that one person in the group cannot have seafood and does not want mutton. :) we are open to non-set menu restaurants too though. |
