Where to buy Fresh Yeast

Does anyone know where I can buy fresh yeast on the Upper West Side....I've checked all of my usual markets and have done a search here on Chowhound. thanks. Came up with bubkus. Roger

Top 10 Manhattan Sushi

I have been going to Sushi Zen for 15 years. Suzuki-san and all of his staff are wonderful.
A sit-at-the-sushi-bar omakase will cost $150 per person with 2 beers or flasks of house saki. I would think that is pretty normal these days for top of the line omakase.

Restaurants everyone loves--except you

I'm surprised to read the negatives on Telepan. Went there last week (second visit) and we had an absolutely wonderful meal. Everything was wonderful and so was our waiter. The dish with 3 different pork cuts was off the chart! The sommelier picked me a wonderful wine as well. Couldn't have asked for a better meal anywhere.

Finally got to go to Otto last night and my, was I disappointed. The pizzas were totally mediocre. The spaghetti carbonara was the worst I ever tried----told the waitress it was inedible and disgusting and was still charged for it. Service was totally indifferent----had to hail a manager when our waitress disappeared and two items we ordered did not arrive. Otto is simply awful!

Bistecca Fiorentina?

Went there last night. Horrible. A real Restaurant Row tourist trap. I should have known better when it was not listed in Zagat.

Ichimura Closed??

I was planning to go to Ichimura for the first time but it appears it has been renamed. Does anyone know what the new restaurant is like? Is it worth going to for Sushi? Is there any connection with the new establishment and the old? Thanks.

Grilled Miso Black Cod, as popularized by Nobu, is made with a marinade of miso, mirin, sake and lots of sugar. The photo looks exactly right and it would be sticky on the outside and sweet. You can find the recipe here:

When I make it at home, I cut the amount of miso and sugar in half.

Best restaurants in Quebec City

I'm going to Quebec City in June to celebrate my 25th anniversary and have 3 nights available for great restaurants. I would love some suggestions. I searched Chowhound and Google and get the usual Laurie Raphael, Initiale, Panache and Toast. Any comments about these or other recommendations would be appreciated.
