American Chinese with atmosphere?

Sesame Cafe, by far the nicest insides of any Chinese restaurant in the area.

Piccolo first visit / recommendations?

Hey I was there Monday night and had the Uni, Agnolotti, Artic Char, Veal, and Panacotta. A couple comments.

I felt like my veal could have been a little more tender.

I am old fashioned, but with these few courses, I prefer the flow of the meal to peak somewhere. In this case it would have been the veal.

Taiwanese style pork belly buns.

Have you even had these in the USA and not from a food truck?

I second/third the Hmong International market as well.

Bad News: Delmonico's Closed Good News: Delmonico's Reopening

Yes, I drove by Delmonico's today to get myself some meatballs and Capacolla but they were closed. Peaked inside and tried to open the door. Walked around the building and I was just about to get back in my car when the door opened and I was greeted by a lady named Jessi. It turns out she bought the business and she's in the middle of renovating the space. Not sure about the opening date yet but if inspections go smoothly they expect to be up and running, well, I don't know, soon. :)

Corner Table 2.0

Do you have a many bottles of whisky/whiskey available to drink at one time or do you open them bottle by bottle?

Campus Pizza closed

Are they? I must visit again because when I went there it wasn't doing well at all. The food quality had gone down IMO. I hope you're right, in which case, Campus Pizza's demise probably had to do with more than just the rail line.

I think Village Wok will close soon too. What do you guys think?

Sanctuary or Bachelor Farmer

Sanctuary is now chef owned, or at least partly, but even before, you could be sure that your plate had at least passed his eyes before it got to your table.

You mean I lived here for all these years and I didn't know about Rustica?

All those years, wasted. :(

11 years? Rustica's only been in the current location about six or seven. Calhoun Grill was there before that. Where was Rustica before?

Cossetta's Pasticceria

We're never going to be a food town until people accept that brown is not burnt. Beige food is such a Midwestern thing.

Great Seafood

They scale it, gut it, and put it in a plastic bag. Then they hand it to you. It's only one kind of fish, tilapia. Good for frying whole and not much more.

Great Seafood

I know Shuang Hur has live tanks. They'll even clean it for you. There are a few Asian grocers in town with live crab, oysters, lobsters.

I also find flash frozen seafood to be quite OK. In general flash frozen cod or whitefish, sole or other flatfish, are all high quality. Smaller roundfish frozen whole is also a safe bet and so is tuna loin.

I always thought Buca de Beppo was fun with the way the restaurant was laid out and that walking through the kitchen stuff.

The Korean grocer in Fridley. They generally have Sako Tuna block, Salted Mackerel, "Red Snapper," clam, prepared cooked shrimp, and if you are lucky, a Hamachi loin.

Sesame Cafe is now serving Dim Sum

Yes, but to clear up the confusion they are the folks from the Wanderer's before it was sold a year ago. They are not the owners of the Wanderer's which just closed last month.

Edit: No, I didn't even look at the normal menu.

Sesame Cafe is now serving Dim Sum

Wanderer's Garden is closed but Sesame Cafe http://www.sesamecafeminnetonka.com/ has just started serving Dim Sum. It's a nice, open restaurant, and they do reservations. The Dim Sum there is no worse nor better than the Wanderer's from a year ago.

Less than 24hrs to spend in the Twin Cities

I would, but if I had just one day I'd pick a place where I can get a reservation. But Rookery is good too, and frankly the food is just as good, just fewer components on the plate.
