Best Thai in Chicago

TAC Quick is good.
I also like Vong's Thai Kitchen downtown. Very good Pad Thai, a great three course offering for $26, and a classy joint.

Romantic restaurant?

I am vacationing in the Bay Area/Napa later this year and looking for a good romantic restaurant that is maybe a little out of the way (but not much) and overlooks the Pacific Ocean or has a great view, preferably facing west.

Any thoughts?

Good Italian Sandwich

When I lived in Philly after college I fell in love with true Italian hoagies -- provolone, prosciutto, capicola, ham, salami, roates red peppers, the works...

But after living in Chicago for 7 years now I have found only a couple places here that really deliver - Capt. Nemo's on Ashland and Eatzi's in the Century Mall at Clark and Diversey.

Any suggestions, especially downtown?

Visiting, Got a Car, Need Recs

I LOVE Vong's Thai Kitchen... not real sure how "authentic" it is but it is great thai, not too pricy and a pretty classy place. Just up the street from Vong's is Star of Siam which is also really good. A great, great thai/sushi place up on North Broadway is Jai-Yen.

Chicago dining on the water

I used to go to Secret Garden Cafe at Berger park on Sheridan near Granville because while the food wasn't anything special really you literally sat ON the waterfront and it could not be beat for cheap foods with a view...

But I haven't been in the last few years and someone told me it actually closed... first, can anyone confirm that? Second, can anyone recommend another restaurant -- other than Castaways! :) -- with Lake Michigan views and decent food?

Two of the best things -- in my mind's eye -- that Chicago has to offer is the lake/river and restaurants and I am shocked people haven't married the two more often.

Thanks!

Wrigleyville - Need casual place for a Sunday evening

For food near Wrigley I love Goose Island. It's a little bar food in that it's a lot of burgers but it's really pretty good and it's pretty big. Lots of good places on Southport - Tango sur, which was previously mentioned, Coobah is good but smallish so 10-12 people may be tough. Rise is a good sushi place on Southport.

Gibson's or Morton's? Out of Towner looking for the Quintessential Chicago Steakhouse Experience

Gibson's is better than Morton's but I know a lot of people that say Gene and Georgetti's is the best but I haven't been there.

The Chicago chop house is pretty good too, as is the Kinzie Chop House. And while it's quite touristy and may be known for its pasta more than its steak I have never had a bad meal at Harry Caray's. They just started down Grass fed beef that is pricy but really good and their Lamb chops are like Heaven.
