Sunday Brunch - Breakers vs. Biltmore

For Thanksgiving, my husband and I are planning an outing with my parents and his parents. I thought either the Breakers ($85) or the Biltmore ($65) would be a nice place to celebrate an special adult-only holiday. I'd prefer to go to the Breakers because we live in Miami and could make a golf or sight-seeing outing out of heading up to WPB. BUT $85 is about $60 more than I think I can eat. Is this really worth it? Is the Biltmore as nice and at least priced for this planet?

Best Thai in south florida?

I know there are a couple Thai restaurants in Wilton Manors but beware there is one place is that is horrible. Its kind of darker, shabbier than the other ones and looks like a tiki hut.

Best Thai in south florida?

I have to disagree with AG on the Panya Thai recommendation. I went there last night: the Tom Ka Kai was good but it went downhill from there. The crispy duck was tough and seemed refried. The pad thai was too bitter and not sweet enough. The people are very nice and the plates are decorated well but the food is not quite there.

Check out this thread:

I'm originally from Montreal and am also used to serious Lebanese food. This place is worth the drive.

Miami Spice - Good Value for Money?

I just moved to Miami Beach from Brooklyn and am eager, although slightly apprehensive, to try all the restaurants down here. Can anyone recommend a Table d'Hote from Miami Spice? I'm looking for delicious food, good price and no cheesy pretentious cr----p.

Indian grocery in S. Broward?

There's one in the Brazil Plaza on the north side of Sample Rd just east of 95. Its small and the owner's can barely pull their eyes from the TV, but most of the time they have tasty fresh samosas. The one at NW 44th St is Pakistani or Bangla so they have halal meat.

Can anyone recommend one in Miami? I just moved to Normandy Isle.

Whole Foods type store in South Beach

Is Fresh Market better than Whole Foods? I also just move to Miami Beach (Normandy) and am in need of good produce and a good butcher. Where are all the tasty Florida oranges? I'm from Canada where all the produce is shipped from Florida. I can't believe the state of things down here.

Group of 8 Williamsburg - Monday Night

Any suggestions for dinner with a larger group on Monday Night in Williamsburg? I feel like Diner & Moto are too small.

Food + Scene is good
Scene only not so good

Sparks or Peter Luger?

Lugers definately. Although you will need to walk across several bridges to work off the cholesteral. Be sure to book well in advance. You typically need about 3 months to get a decent time.

Fri night dinner: Seven Fish in KeyWest...thoughts?

I read about 7 fish on this board and went there a couple weeks ago. Compared to Blue Heaven, the food is not amazing. It is good: the veggies and fish are fresh. However I found the sauces basic and the presentationg lacking. If you eat out a lot you may like it because the food has a homemade flavour.

Indian/ PB county

Madras is good for the standard tandoori chicken and nan. The solids in the dhaiwaras and sag ghosht were stale and sparse and the sauce was too rich. Also no fresh spices. I am Indian so I need the real deal. I just moved to Pompano and went out to this Indian Plaza in Plantation last weekend. There is a restaurant there that looks very promising. It was Sunday at 3pm and it was packed with mostly Indians. I am going to head out there next weekend so will post about it.

It is just east of (NW?) 44th St and Pine Island near the Sunrise theater.

More on Kitchenetta, FLL

Went to Kitchenetta and feel its overpriced. Dinner for two was around $100 with wine. Not to be annoying, but the pasta was something I could make at home. I even think the penne comes from a box. Their putanesca sauce was not chopped finely enough so I'd get huge hunks of olives and capers that would make me grimace. Also, I think the olives were canned.

On the upside, the service was refreshingly professional and the winelist is excellent.

Arabic/Isreali Food in Plantation

Yesterday I went to Tel-Aviv in Plantation on the SW corner of 44th St and Pine Island based on this thread by Hatless:
http://www.chowhound.com/topics/394780

The stripmall is in the middle of nowhere and totally depressing. The roof tiles have still not been replaced from whatever hurricane went through Plantation in like 1988.

Once inside, the trip is worth it as the food is delicious, nourishing and fresh. A three course middle eastern meal for less than $10/person. I recommend the cucumber/mint/yoghurt salad and anything with lamb, tahini and lots of garlic.

coral gables where to et

I know this review is a few years old.....but I went to Pascal's last night and the food was a bit spotty. My lobster bisque was salty and my husband's duck was tough. The cheese souffle was excellent. The crabcakes were also very good.
I would not discourage from going there, but would not say it is excellent.
