Shalley's Profile
Anniversary Dinner - Dallas
I recommend 2900 or Soho. Both are really good and romantic.
Best local-to-Texas beer
I haven't tried all their beers. I just wasn't blown away by the two I've tried. I've had the Red and Lager and have had better versions of both. I'll have to try their Winter Warmer.
Best local-to-Texas beer
St. Arnold's is really good. Real Ale isn't bad. Rahr is not very good. Shiner is highly overrated. It's better than Bud and Coors Light but usually has too much carbonation.
toddler friendly dallas chow
I've got a 20 month old and I've found that Dallas is a very child friendly city. I have found any place that isn't child friendly. From thai to indian to hamburgers, I would be surprised if you didn't find a place that's child friendly.
Keller's Drive In (DAL)
I gotta agree too. You can get the same kind of burger all over Dallas. It's ok but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Keller's. For an average run of the mill burger, you could do worse but it doesn't deserve all the praise. And of course it's miles above Sonic.
DFW -- Kozy Kitchen on McKinney -- Avoid
I can't believe you waited 40 minutes. I wouldn't have waited more than 10 minutes. If I have to wait more than 10 minutes, I get the manager. There are too many restaurants in the Dallas area to be made to wait.
Ethiopian/Korean (Dallas)
There is a new Ethiopian restaurant in Richardson that has good food but the services is horrible. I can't remember the name but it's south of Beltline on the west side of 75 behind the Jack in the Box and 7-11.
Ciudad Closed. Other Recommendations?
Manny's is just around the corner and it's really good.
Pig Stand
I keep seeing mention of this franchise on the Food Network. I know it's the first drive thru and they all closed in Dallas. Does anyone know where the closest one to Dallas is located?
Dallas Area Farmers Market
I know about the Farmer's Market in downtown Dallas and the one in Plano, but are there any other farmer's markets in the metroplex?
Best Dallas Dive?
Hole in the Wall is the very definition of a dive. Great burgers and jerk chicken sandwich.
Great Greek Food in Dallas?
The Greek Cafe is the one greek restaurant I go to over and over again. I don't know how authentic it is but it's always been very good. I've never seen chicken wings on their buffet.
There is a great grocery store on Beltline east of Preston behind the Bally's and next to the Stein Mart that has a little restaurant section. They have really good food as well.
Great Greek Food in Dallas?
Where would you find a Scandinavian restaurant in the Dallas area?
Black Forest Cafe is a really good German restaurant.
Petit Fours - Best in Dallas
Have you tried Petit Fours? It's in the West Village and they have really good...well you know. The pizza place next door is awesome as well.
Deep dish pizza in Dallas/Fort Worth area?
I heard this place just closed as they are going to level the whole area and build a new strip mall or something. I think it's moved to somewhere else but I don't know where.
Tio's Tortas (Dallas)
I've eaten there several times and each time I try a new torta. I've worked my way through about half their menu. I've yet to find one that wasn't excellent. Their fries are awesome and their condiment bar has items you won't find anywhere else. I wish they would open more locations. This place is first rate. I can't recommend this place enough.
Is the food any good at cinema eateries like Studio Movie Grill?
You go to Studio Movie Grill for the novelity for drinking and watching a film not for eating. The food is a collection of fried, frozen and forgettable. I've yet to eat anything there that I couldn't find in a sports bar and it's a bit over priced.
[Dallas] Mooyah Burgers & Fries
I ate there again today and for a greasy burger, it is ok. I wouldn't recommend anyone go out of their way for the burgers here.
The fries are much better than the first time ate there. The shakes are not bad but about the same as what you would find at McDonalds.
best fries in Dallas
I was going to recommend Tio's Tortas as well. Not only are the tortas incredibly good but the fries are also great.
Best Pizza in Texas
You have to check out Piggy Pies on Greenville and Lover's. Amazing thick slices of pizza. One of the pizza places I've ever been to with lots of awesome toppings that you don't find in most places.
Also in Richardson, there is a take out place called Olive Oil's. They really know their pizza. Good stuff.
Absolute best burger in Texas?
Best burger I've had in Dallas is hand's down at Ben's Half Yard House on Greenville. They make a nice thick burger with an excellent char-grilled taste.
What are the must try places in Dallas for people visiting Texas for the first time?
I haven't tried Smitty's but I've tired a lot of BBQ in the Dallas area and most have been lacking. I've heard really good things about Peggy Sue's and Smitty's but haven't had a chance to try them yet.
Memphis BBQ isn't about pork and spices. It's about Pork and smoke. The spices are wonderful bonus.
I'm just pointing out a really good BBQ restaurant in Dallas and if you're going out for BBQ, it's one of the better places to go.
Genroku in Dallas . . . Help Needed
Genroku is pretty good. Decent affordable sushi in a good area to lots of different types of Asian food.
[Dallas] Mooyah Burgers & Fries
The burgers are good but I wouldn't go out of my way to try them out.
(Dallas) Wingfield's Breakfast and Burgers
Does Wingfield's do the thin "texas" style burger with chopped lettuce and mustard only?
