MeMeMe's Profile

Has Le Paradis Gone Downhill Recently?

The food is okay at Jacques - however, I had terrible service there last year. My friend emptied her change purse on the table to find twoonies and the owner/ waitress was disgusted and pretty much said so. I used to love the place but that really turned me off!

VEGETARIAN CRISPY DUCK IN TORONTO

Buddhist Vegetarian Kitchen in Scarborough. Everything there is delicious.

Hip Toronto restaurant ideas needed - good food, service with terrace or outdoor space

Not sure what hip entails these days - but I've always enjoyed food and drink on the Drake's skyloft.

St. Clair West - Much Me and Hardy's?

What is Much Me all about? I haven't heard about it...

Hardy's - went once and didn't return. The atmosphere is strange - and the food was par at best. If i wanted BBQ, or a reasonable fascimile, i'd go to Stockyards.

Openings 2012 (Toronto)

Looks like ChaLau is the old Cha Liu Dim Sum Shoppe.

I was hoping they were still looking for a location at Yonge and Eg....so sad they are more downtown.

Delicious - small delicate portions of dim.

Openings 2012 (Toronto)

The Saint Tavern on Ossington. Tavern/steakhouse/comfort food.

The Saint Tavern on Ossington

Went last night on their second official open night after happy hour at Boehmer ($6 glass of wine - you can't go wrong!).

Delish meal - massive servings. I had lardon perogies to start, husband had steak tartare. We shared a massive chicken pot pie with whiskey cheddar crust (their pie of the week) and a side of grilled asparagus. Nice staff. Reasonably priced wines by the glass. Very long bar with two TVs showing the Jays game. Vibe a cross between steakhouse, diner and tavern. We will return.

Divino - Yonge and St. Clair

People go to Terroni because of the brand - they know what they are going to get.

In addition, there are so many capable and trusted Italian restos in the neighbourhood - Quanto Basta, Capocaccia, Spiga - that one more in the crowded space probably wouldn't attract crowds.

Brunchworks on St. Clair

We've been to Prop, which was mediocre and somewhat quiet, but they give you a lot of fruit with your meal. Cocolatte is another place which was pretty good for our kid - casual but with decent food.

Brunchworks on St. Clair

We love Boom. While there is often a line-up, it moves pretty quickly. The food and service are consistently good.

Passover shopping again...

I bought the most delicious looking dark chocolate covered Matzo at Costco last weekend. Can't wait to crack it open. Loblaws St. Clair has a wall of matzo to be bought individual or in bulk.....

What is the one item you always leave Costco with?

6 pack of frozen shrimp dumpling soup.
120 pack of Reactine.

Place to meet for coffee near Downsview Subway Station?

Are you looking for somewhere to talk? there is almost nothing nearby.

Best Nachos in Toronto?

Metal pan, good chips, very cheesy..not sure the mix, probably Jack and cheddar, onions, ground beef, peppers, tomatoes. Jalapenos on the side with great salsa and sour cream. You can get them to go in a giant pizza box. I have no idea why they are as good as they are.

Best Nachos in Toronto?

I keep wishing someone would replicate the nachos from Joe Kool's in London.

Any update on Catch, the new restaurant on St. Clair West?

Went to Catch on Saturday night. We had a reservation to sit at the bar...the place filled up quickly and stayed packed all night. The food is definitely fun and inventive.

A couple of misses (the Patatas Bravas really weren't very impressive or worth it). My friend had halibut, scallops (on the house), I had the flank steak. We shared mushrooms, cauliflower salad - which was awesome, the patatas. Wine, beer, cocktail. And the PB&J dessert. All came in under $100 for two of us. We weren't stuffed - but were were fine. the food seems very healthy - not laden in butter and sauces.

Loved the vibe, the music. We'll definitely be back! (the Bartender was great - very knowledgeable about all the food....)

Il Mulino Restaurant ?

There is a WagJag today for a 4 course Prix Fixe at Il Mulino - $65 for two....it looks good but before we buy, has anyone been lately?

http://www.wagjag.com/?wid=14fedd8a9492de6df555d52aa18cd5a4

I haven't been in years....wondering if the food and atmosphere are still amazing.

Inexpensive wedding venues

I think there's one at the Lakeshore that will do weddings...I've heard of a few nice ones taking place there.

Any update on Catch, the new restaurant on St. Clair West?

I drove past Catch last night and it was jammed. Not sure if it was a private party - but with the floor to ceiling windows, all I could see was people.

Has anyone been?

Super Bowl Sunday - takeout wings

or Duff's on Bayview.

Bracebridge - Waitt’s Bakery & Rombo's

I think there used to be an Albo's in Bracebridge. Rombo's is still in Gravenhurst.

Dinner and Drinks in Toronto on a Saturday Night???

The Beaconsfield?

Business Lunch - Yonge & Eglington

Grazie has some great dishes at lunch. There really is very little in the area - so painful at lunch. If it's a casual lunch, would Bamburger work? It's pretty delish.

There is also Coquine, which can be hit or miss but would meet your budget.

Toronto with young children ???

If you go to the ROM (museum - which is huge and so great for kids of all ages) they have a great cafeteria in the basement. For food in the area, Dynasty for dim sum, Sushi Inn for sushi. Yorkville has lots of pubs just north on Prince Arthur which are kid friendly. You can shop your way up and down Bloor - and take the subway to the Danforth where there are lots of easy going Greek restaurants east of Broadview.

We have a 3 year old and generally take him anywhere.

non-Winterlicious prix fixe menus in Toronto, Winter 2012

It's great - i've done that and Sidecar's.

Bazaar on Mt pleasant

I for one think it sounds fun. Most family restaurants have a mish mash of cuisines - these guys are just being more overt about it. If the food is good, it could be a success, no?

Any update on Catch, the new restaurant on St. Clair West?

I was at the Rushton a week ago and there were murmurs of an opening in the next week or so. I could be wrong. Looking forward to it, as I've been enjoying the Rushton as of late.

Looking for a birthday party venue in Yorkville

it's not loud downstairs at all. it's cozy. and their poleta fries are so delicious. I really like the space.

ISO Raos sauce

Summerhill Market.

By the Way Cafe/ Future Bakery....help me decide

I second Coffee Mill. So delicious and old school!
