Thanks. I did go and got some. But they didn't have any plain ones. The ones they had were with walnuts. But it fixed my temporary cravings. The search continues.

I've been by Corner Bakery about 4 times already and haven't been able to get them. Always out!

I used to get them from my local Corner Bakery, but they're not bringing that back this year. Instead, they have pumpkin whoopie pies. If anyone knows where I can get them in the Northern Virginia area, please post! Many thanks.

PS: I'm crazy about pumpkin flan as well.

rockland's catering

We had a catered lunch from them today. I didn't do the ordering; however. We had pulled bbq chicken, baked beans (excellent!), coleslaw, potato salad, rolls, and the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Everyone at the meeting ate everything, to the last morsel. Hope that helps.

Catering recommendations- office lunch

I highly recommend W Millar. They're close to you. We use them every month (breakfast and lunch). Everyone looks forward to the monthly meeting day! Aside from their menus, each month they have a Blue Plate special, which is a complete lunch (dessert and all), with no substitution. They just posted their holiday menus online. Sound like your group is large enough for one of those holiday offerings. They have good service, organized, and great food of course. Even the room temperature menus are delicious. Do not overlook the soups, especially Tomato Basil. When it comes to desserts, you ought to try more than just cookies and bars. You mentioned healthy alternatives, which they do offer. You can call and tell them what you're looking for and see if they can accommodate you. If you want fresh-squeezed OJ, ask for it and you'll get it. If you do call, ask for Shelby, she's my contact there and she's helpful. http://wmillar.com/

Thai or Vietnamese in DC: do not miss?

I personally like Mai Thai (on 19th Street between M and N Streets). It's also a beautiful and large restaurant.

Which Teaism?

I see there are 3 locations. Any recommendations as far as which one? decor, ambiance, service, parking, etc. I've never been to any one of them. Thanks. And they don't serve dinners, right? Didn't see a dinner menu.

Restaurants for steamed mussels and clams

I forgot to mention that I'm in Northern Virginia. Occasionally I visit Annapolis, thanks for tip on McGarvey, it sounds like what I want! Also, Brasserie Beck is next block from my office!

Restaurants for steamed mussels and clams

I love steamed mussels and clams. They're only offered on the menus as appetizers. Sometime the portions are acceptable, sometimes you only get a handful but for hefty charge. I can easily order 2 or 3 appetizer portions for myself, but that gets very expensive. Where can one go for plentiful of plain steamed mussels and clams, other than doing it at home?

Where to find authentic TRES LECHES?

OK. Thanks guys! there are quite a few options here. I've never been to any of them. So I got to make a list and try one by one and hope that I will find "the one". Once I found it, it will be worth the effort and time. :)

Where to find authentic TRES LECHES?

After having tried Tres Leches in Miami, I'm disappointed at some of the tres leches offerings on the menus locally. If you know where I can find the real thing (or close to it), please share! PS: Tres Leches Cakes are not the same!

Vietnamese Coffee

I love condensed milk, but hate having to open the can and store the leftover. Where can I find this La Lechera plastic bottle condensed milk? I'm not close to an Asian grocer. Can I get it anywhere else?

Eats near the Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City?

I recommend Carlyle Grand (or Grand Carlyle?) at Shirlington Village. It's very very close to Ritz Pentagon, right off 395, one exit away from Pentagon. You'll need to take a cab. They usually do not take reservations, but for Mother's Day brunch they do. Ask for upstairs seating. Or if the weather is nice, there's outdoor seating. Shirlington Village also has shops, one of which is Carlyle's own bakery. Nice little place to walk around.
