West (Restaurant) in Vancouver?

Thanks for everyone's input. I decided to go ahead and give West a try.

I've also made reservations at Le Crocodile and Bishops based on the posts in the other linked threads and for the last night we're planning on waiting in line at Vij's.

West (Restaurant) in Vancouver?

Hey,

I'm planning a trip to Vancouver this weekend and while doing research as to the best restaurants in Vancouver I stumbled upon a post on here saying that a place called West may be one of the best restaurants in north America.

The problem being this post was from 2006 and trying to search for the word West on these boards is pretty difficult with it being used it just about every other post.

Anyone know if this place is still any good?

Thanks.

Good food on Father's Day?

I'd certainly look for brunch but I'm afraid I've already got obligations on that front with the grandfather on my mothers side so dinner is my only option.

Good food on Father's Day?

I've been scouring the town trying to find a restaurant that my father will eat at that is open up on Sunday and I'm not having much luck.

To give you an idea of the sort of places that I've been looking at I called Splendido, Nota Bene (Both times I was practically laughed off the line.), The Harbord Room (Which no longer does reservations on Sunday / Monday), Hashimoto (Already booked.), Carmans is closed for the summer. I looked up Mitsura and George and they are both closed too. Truffles isn't an option since my father hates it there. He hates mortons, scaramouche, centro also.

I'm really at a loss here I may reserve at Lai Toh Heen but the last time we ate there I wasn't that impressed so I'm really hesitant to do so.

Any suggestions for a decent location that will be open on fathers day?

Paris Without a Budget

Me and my girlfriend will be going to Paris France for the first time in our lives this coming august and being that Paris is renowned for it's culinary achievement I really want to splurge on as fine a dinner as Paris has to offer at least once in my stay there.

The style of cuisine doesn't particularly matter to me so I'm open to any suggestions that can be offered.
