Bagels/Spreads near Jackson Heights

Need to get bagels and spreads (whitefish, lox etc), near Jackson Heights. I've been in this neighborhood for 2 years and haven't really found any good places for this sort of thing. I'm happy to go to Forest Hills, Astoria, etc., but wouldn't know where to go!
Thanks

Good Cocktails near Washington Sq Park

I agree with Elettaria, nice cocktails and a $4 bar snacks menu.

Guide to Woodside

I agree with the Stop Inn rec. Great diner breakfast with real hash browns rather than warmed up mushy home fries that many diners serve.

Apple Crumb

The sour cream apple walnut pie at Little Pie Company is fantastic. They are pretty far West of your preferred location, though, at 14th and 9th. They have an outpost in Grand Central if that is easier

Dim Sum Go Go Disappointment

Is Dim Sum Go Go still open? I tried to go with a friend a few weeks ago and found a hair dresser there instead... I've been many times before, so I don't think I got the address wrong, but maybe I did. When did you go?

Adult (but casual) drinks near Otto

For a nice wine bar, try 8th St. Wine Cellar just about a block West of Otto.
You could also try Angel's Share on Stuyvesant St. It is inside a loud Japanese BBQ place, but once you get into the Angel's Share bar itself it is lovely. It does get crowded though and they won't let you in if there are no seats...

Freshly Popped Rice Cakes

I've seen these at the Han An Reum on Woodside Ave in Woodside. They don't always have them, but I've definitely seen them being made on weekends.

deviled eggs?

Any restaurants that serve them? Preferably in the village area...

Help! Dinner for 30 ppl for $70 incl. wine, tax & tip!

MetroCafe Wine Bar on 21st near Broadway has a big room in the back that could probably hold 30 and would most likely come close to your budget. http://www.metrocafenyc.com

Sunnyside - The Fruitless Search For A Decent Slice of Pizza

What exactly is a Grandma slice? I've only ever ordered plain from Peppinos and been disappointed, I'm curious about this Grandma slice.

argentinean steakhouse

I agree with La Fusta - better than LaPortena I think. The skirt steak and shell steaks were done to perfection when I was there on Friday.

Drinks after (and during) Sripraphai

Well, if you ever make it there, there's not a lot of great drinking options between Sri and Jackson Heights. Closer to the Woodside/61st St train station are a bunch of Irish pubs, which are always good for a pint or two with friends. I like Cuckoos Nest. The Dugout is right near the train station, just to name two. These are not going to be cosmo/mojito places, if that is what you are looking for.

If you have to head towards JH, the only thing I can think of between Sri and JH is Legends Bar, where they also have Texas Ranger BBQ. that's on 35th Ave around 71st St I think. It is a sports bar, so again, no Chianti or splashy cocktails, but you can get a decent beer and catch the Yankees.

Outdoor spots to throw a Wedding Shower

Crispo has a nice outdoor space, though I'm not sure if they have brunch.

Max Brenner E. Village

I don't think Chikalicious would be great for a family/kids, which I think was holldoll's intention. Holldoll if you are going with kids, Max Brenner is fun and the kids will enjoy it. Certainly not the highest quality desserts out there, but that's not what you go to a place like Max Brenner for. Avoid the chocolate popsicles as the ones I had recently were freezer-burned and pretty bad. The crepes, waffles and chocolate pizza were decent.

Pasta in a cheese wheel

A friend is coming to town with her kids this weekend and the last time they were here they went to Vittorio on Bleeker and got the pasta that is prepared tableside in a large wheel of parmesean. They want to get that again, but Vittorio is closed - where else can we get this preparation? Preferably a place that would be welcoming to a family of 5 (the youngest is 12). I think Basta Pasta has it, but I'm looking for other recs as well.

One Nice Meal in Singapore [Moved from South Asia board]

I'll be in Singapore to celebrate my 30th birthday and am looking for one special meal. Doesn't need to be "fancy" but should be fantastic food. I live in NYC so preferably something that is unique to Asia/Singapore that I can't get in NY.

Birthday dinner in/near the West Village?

Ony closed - it is now Soto, a much more upscale Japanese place.

Sushi around NoLita cheap - mid price

Marumi on Laguardia near West 3rd is my standby for that area. Solid, reasonably priced sushi and also very nicely done cooked dishes. I don't know if they deliver, I've often picked up take out from them.

Are there any diners left?

I love Stop Inn too - the hash browns at breakfast are great!

Private terrace/roof for 10-20 people

The terrace at the bar in the Ritz Carlton Battery Park (Rise) can be reserved for private parties. Expensive, and the food choices are limited, but the view is amazing and the drinks are good.

Sripraphai - 45 minute wait but empty tables?

Last time I went there was a very long wait for tables in the garden, but no wait for tables inside. I wonder if that's what was going on with the line outside? The reservation issue mentioned below might also be slowing things down.

BURGERS!!!

Rhythm and Booz was a favorite of mine when I lived in that area. He had just started serving food and said he was modeling his burger on what the Corner Bistro used to be (before it was taken over by tourists).

Woodside/Sunnyside suggestions? (eating out AND delivery)

It is called De Mole now, you can search the boards for tons of accolades!

Need recs for Union Square - 13th St area

I really enjoy Borgo as well, it would be a lovely start to your night. Borgo is much quieter and more low key than some of the other places mentioned, so it depends on what you are looking for in terms of atmosphere. Otto would be a good choice if you are looking for loud and lively.

Gourmet diet food delivery service?

I have a number of coworkers who really like 5 Squares, they say the food is fresh and good. I haven't tried it myself, but I think they are very local. http://www.5squares.com/

Garden seating in W. Village for engagement celebration dinner

The garden at Crispo is lovely. I took my relatively traditional in-laws there and they were thrilled with it.

Reasonable Japanese near Grand Central

For dinner with a party of 4 - Some want sushi, some want cooked goods, any suggestions? Chiyoda? Naniwa?

Chinatown Dim sum for one,please

I agree with the dim sum go go suggestion - very good dim sum, and easy to order for only one person. They are very busy on weekends, but could probably squeeze one person in at one of the big tables upstairs (you'd be sharing a table, but this is pretty normal at dim sum places in Chinatown). I also recommend the dim sum sampler mentioned by kobetobiko, great way to try a lot of things!

Ottomanelli Mystery - Franchise or Different Buisnesses?

I've often wondered about all of the Ottomanelli's - there is one in Woodside Queens too, which is good but not as nice as the one on Bleeker. They always have a TV on in the Queens location with Emeril and other food network chefs talking up Ottomanelli's mail-order - are these places all related?

A Great Baked Good...vote here:

My votes would be for the Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie at Little Pie Co. and the Caramel Brownie at Fat Witch.
