Sammy's Pizzeria on Hope Street Providence

Has anyone been? Any reviews? Worth a try?

La Camelia in East Providence

Has anyone been there? All the information I can find online seems dated. Would you recommend this restaurant for middle eastern food?

Looking for shellfish free restaurant

We ended up at Abigail's. I thought the food was OK, but my colleague said it's the best dining experience he's had since he developed his allergy. Really appreciate the recommendations!

Looking for shellfish free restaurant

Going to Manhattan with a coworker with a serious shellfish allergy. Can you recommend a good place for us to go to dinner?

Only request - that it doesn't serve shellfish. (I know, he could go to a place that serves shellfish as long as they are careful about cross-contamination, but this is a relatively new allergy, and he's just learning to manage it. If you know of a place that is very aware of allergies but serves shellfish, feel free to recommend those and his wife can check them out for him)

So vegetarian, kosher, are good starts, but open to anything. Looking to spend less than $35 per person for an entree.

Thanks!

Shelfish-free restaurant in Cambridge?

I need to plan a working lunch in Cambridge and because of a coworker's recently-developed shellfish allergy, I need to find a place that doesn't serve any shellfish on the menu (yes, I realize that's a bit extreme, but it's a new allergy and the coworker still hasn't met with his allergist to find out what is or isn't allowed). Any suggestions for an interesting place for lunch? I prefer fresh, local, seasonal, etc...

Thanks!

ponchatoula strawberries

Are ponchatoula strawberries still in season? Are they available at a regular grocery store (like Rouses on Carrolton)? If not, do you know where I could find some this week?

Thanks!

Where to buy beluga lentils in RI?

Thanks. I tried Whole Foods, Not Just Snacks, Trader Joe's, Eastside Marketplace, and the Indian grocer on Mineral Springs. I'll check Venda and Sid Wainer...

Where to buy beluga lentils in RI?

Does anyone know where I could buy beluga lentils near Providence?

Also, I'm having trouble finding gigante beans.... any ideas?

Thanks!

Mike's Kitchen Cranston, RI - wine?

Does Mike's Kitchen at the VFW in Cranston serve wine?

Thanks!

Budget dinner in downtown Providence?

Good suggestion, thanks. I forgot about that option

Budget dinner in downtown Providence?

I'm looking for a place to have dinner tonight in downtown Providence. If I hadn't been to AS220/Taqueria Pacifca just a couple days ago, it would be the perfect choice for tonight.

Are there any other places downtown that have high quality food at low prices (and are open for dinner)? (Cuban Revolution was already vetoed, by the way. I'm at a loss as to where to go!)

Vegetarian lunch in Providence

Hi,

I'm looking for a place to have lunch in Providence (today). Need a place with good vegetarian options. I'm looking for a place that's a bit more upscale than Garden Grille or any of the Indian restaurants in town. Something with an atmosphere like La Laiterie would be great.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Providence dinner - Latin American food

Thanks for all your responses. I've bene to Don Jose's and thought it was fine. Not outstanding, but not bad. Chilangos is probably the top of my list because the atmostphere is pretty good. What's El Rancho Grande like? That sounds promising.

Are there any a bit more upscale Latin-American restaurants in Providence?

Providence dinner - Latin American food

My friend's birthday is next weekend. She has mentioned a few times that she has a hankerin' for some Latin American food, which I think she would define as anything from Tex-Mex on down. There will probably be a group of about 6 for her birthday. Do you have any recommendations as to where we should take her?

She'd like for it to be in or around Providence. I'd like it not to be Tortilla Flats, because I've never had great food there. I'd also like it not to be Taqueria Pacifica, because although I think the food there isn't bad, I think she'd prefer a sit-down-order-at-your-table kind of place. She's lived in the southern US, so I think I need to find a place that has good food - mediocre wouldn't cut it for her. (She's not a food snob, I just don't want to disappoint her)

I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance for your help!

Apple Picking RI

My favorite orchard is Rocky Brook. Although it is impossible to grow organic apples in RI (from what I understand), it seems that they spray as little as possible. The owner is very friendly, and it's a beautiful spot. http://www.rockybrookorchard.com/

Best Spinach Pie in Providence?

I'm not from here, and want to try a really good spinach pie. Where should I go?

Organic or natural beef burger in Providence?

Other than La Laterie, is there anywhere around Providence to get an organic (or sustainably raised beef) burger?

Thanks!

Providence Restaurant Week: Where would you go?

We went to L'Epicureo last night and were not impressed. The hostess table was unmanned when we arrived - we had to wait about 10 minutes to be greeted. The food was also nothing special - especially for the price. The 'slow-roasted' pork was tough, and the lobster risotto quite unflavorful. On the upside, desserts were good, and our waiter provided great service (once we were finally seated).

Where to eat in Bothell?

Thanks for the tips. I'll try these places, and let you know if I find anything good!

Where to eat in Bothell?

My parents bought a place in Bothell - not far from the Canyon Park Park & Ride. Is there anywhere worth eating around there?

Thanks!

Mexican food at Fox Point (RI) soccer fields!

Did they have vegetarian options?

Much uncharted territory, R.I. Hounds

Does the Mexican place have vegetarian options?

Saturday bruch in Providence for a group of 15-20?

We ended up at LJ's. The service was great and the were very willing to accomodate our large group. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, and we would definitely go back!

Saturday bruch in Providence for a group of 15-20?

Taqueria Pacifica sounds like a great option. Anyone know if their bar is open during breakfast? Red Stripe might also be an option. I can't imagine they don't have good breakfast drinks...

Thanks!

Saturday bruch in Providence for a group of 15-20?

I'm throwing a brunch birthday party for a friend and can't figure out where to go. Sitting on the patio at Jake's was our first choice, but it seems they don't serve bruch on Saturdays. The Rue and Oak don't seem casual enough for our group. Anyone have any suggestions?

We might end up at Julians... maybe Nick's? Does Nick's have good bloody marys? Also, does Nick's have outdoor seating? We'd love to sit outside (weather permitting), but it's most important for us to go to a fun casual place with good bloody marys.

Thanks!

Recommendations for Mid-City and French Quarter

Thank you all so much for your recommendations. This will definitely save me from being stuck eating at a chain like Bubba Gump's! (Who knows, maybe their food is decent?)

I'm really looking forward to trying Coop's. Also I just remembered that last year we went to Johnny's for a po' boy and it was really good. I'll try to check out Liuzza's as well. Mandina's is still on my list, added ye olde college inn and Minnie's catfish corner.

Thanks again for all your recommendations!

Recommendations for Mid-City and French Quarter

We're coming in for JazzFest, and would love recommendations for places to eat.

We're staying near Rock 'n' Bowl; I've been told to eat at Mandina's. Anywhere else?

I'm sure we'll find ourselves at the Music Factory before and after the festival. Any suggestions of where to eat around there? I feel like there are so many tourist traps in and around the Quarter, and I don't want to get caught in one of those. What do you think about the Gumbo Shop? Coop's Place? Other suggestions?

The last 6 times I've been to JF, I was a student, so wa really limited in my choices. This year I have a job (albeit at a non-profit), so I have a bit more money to spend. Dinners around $15 would be OK.

We're looking for typical New Olreans food - food we can't get up here in New England. I'm sure there's great Mexican, Indian, Asian, etc. food in NO, but we want what we can't get elsewhere.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!
