BYOB ..(bring your own bottle) is common nomenclature for a bottle of liqour, as a liqour license is much harder and more expensive than a beer/wine license. Yes they have beer , and no you can't bring your own beer

Starvin' for good Mexican near Lakeway?
My Buddy at work is seeking quality Mexican or Tex -Mex near Lakeway.Rosies and El Arroyo aren't making the grade,so something else. Anybody got a suggestion out that way?
Best Single Malt
these were 2 differing thoughts....1st was fave Scotch , mine are 18 Mccallan and 2nd was Oban. 25 Mccallan was 3rd. Second was a suggestion that does not require a better Scotch to enjoy ( I usually use 12 Glenlivet). I rarely , if ever, partake in blends. Try the cookie thing and send me a thank-you note
Best "Bang for Your Buck" Steak in Town
yep , Sugar's is by far the best bang for the buck.....not the best steak, but the best price, and not bad
Best Single Malt
I've had The McCallan 18 and I believe the other was a 25 yr. I lost a bet to my buddy,Slippy, and, had to buy him a bottle. I preferred the 18 yr old. My other is Oban. I love the smoky pleasure of it.In a poorly equipped bar (I'm in Texas)it's McCallan 12 or Glenlivet
A wee dram and some hot tollhouse cookies and I'm in heaven.
1. stick whole HOT cookie in mouth.
2. swig a portion of the nectar
3. hold, hold, hold ( Braveheart quote)
4. feel the chocolate and Scotch ether fill your sinues
5. swallow
6. rinse with water ( I prefer seltzer)
7. repeat
8. laugh if you want , but try it once, it's our not-so-secret family tradition
I was born in Edinburgh, and have tasted boocoos of fine Scotchs
The most recent one I tried was callled " Black Water " in Gaelic, but was like residue from a charcoal filter...yuck

Iron Works or County Line for beef ribs
Salt Lick for pork ribs....much more and very varied
age is a factor for nitelife recommends, 6th st for under 30 ,warehouse district for over. SO-CO is hoppin' sometimes too.Generally speaking , but so much music that you really follow where the bands are , not the bar itself. Go to Austinchronicle.com for a clearer picture....just an opinion , Austinite since 1977...Bars/venues to visit ...Continental Club,Antones,Saxon Pub, Jovitas....and all those spots on 6th or warehouse area
Hickory smoked steak
not quite, " top blade" , "not top round "....deeper set, and more flavorful. Not that I don't like a Top round steak. Flats have less opportunity for border gristle. If you go to HEB they'll have little blade steaks and top round steaks on the shelf. If the butcher is any good, have them cut you a "flat iron" and get them about 8-10 ounces 3/4" thick. fat layer off...the ones on the shelf are typically too thin. Most folks don't ask the butcher to cut something special. It takes about 10 minutes while you shop, costs nothing additional, and the butcher gets to show his stuff.Once you get it custom, you'll never buy off the shelf again
Small group dinner ideas for business dinner
bISTRO 88...COOL ...DIFFERENT..eclectic, and you can talk
Hickory smoked steak
cut out of the heart of the chuck.....every butcher you ask for it will grin... then cut it.....don't accept a skinny blade version, it should be 3/4 ' thick. med rare or med ONLY!
Favorite Dish(es) at Fonda San Miguel
The queso flameado is my fave appetizer...it's quite filling....so take care not to over order. For the main course I like the Chile Poblano.(they'd call it a Chile relleno , if it were less expensive!)....then , cajeta crepes , share 'em. I do feel FSM is quite overpriced and overratd but I eat there every few months anyway...With our plethora of Tex'mex and border mex places , it's uniqeness is solely for being interior
Favorite Fajitas in Austin?
Forgot bout El Azteca.....great variety of fajitas!..tried to attach a list from their menu,,,hope it's legible
Hickory smoked steak
don't know about "smoked" , but Eddie V's offers a nice variety of steaks. Smoked steaks are typically sirloins or flat irons(smoked to make them more tender). I know it's a chain, but Texas Land & Cattle has the smokiest flavored steak that I've had in town . It's pretty damn good. it's they're specialty. To reiterate, grilled steak gets you very little smoke flavor as opposed to smoking it prior then grilling to complete. To acquire max smoke flavor you must close the lid of a grill to max smoke absorption ( a no-no with most better steaks). I must say that a smoked flat iron is my favorite steak of all. if cooked right ,it is gushing with juice, tender as a high grade steak , and virtually fat free.Ask a butcher ( I used to be one) , they'll tell ya. It used to be our own lil guild secret
Forget hickory, just steak
Eddie V's does some nice steaks, if they lay off the salt a bit
Restaurant recommendations for wedding reception party of 70?
Green Pastures does a fine job( In town, and you can rent the whole place or partial).Belmont food is iffy often ( even on slow nights). I bet they'd crumble with 70
Best ( if any) brats in town?
yep, brats on a stick in the walburg beer garden.I hear there's a place in Noack (outside of Taylor) that might have brats. I'm not really lookin' for German food, but specifically brattys. Like in Milwaukee or Sheboygen (the bratwurst capital of North America ) where they are delish. Walburg beer garden is fun, before it gets too hot
Need a light/low carb beer for beer lover on a diet
I was comparing Guiness to Steel Reserve :)..... Then I guess there's not a Good tastin' low carb beer. Michelob Ultra is like water.I always avoided beer when I was dieting.Vodka and peach fresca would be my drink of choice when I was on the Atkins/South Beach thing. Even tho it's not reccommended . My name is Rustcat , and I am an alcolholic
