Passion Fruit Puree?

Thank you for the suggestions. I did finally find some at Tony's Finer Foods on Elston, in fact, they have two different kinds. So that would be the place to go if anyone else is looking for some.

Passion Fruit Puree?

Anyone know where in the Chicago area to purchase frozen passion fruit puree? I have tried Whole Foods and Fox and Obel with no luck. I am looking for puree not just juice. I live in the South Loop area but I can go anywhere? Thanks!

Thank you for the suggestions!

Any Great Food Places On the Drive Between Charleston and Raleigh?

After visiting Charleston next week I will be driving to Raleigh. Are there any great lunch places...i.e.fish shacks, Southern diners, etc. that would make a good place to stop? My route is still open so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sweets/Baked goods in Charleston

I am spending a few days in Charleston next week and I have a list of restaurants (thanks to this board) to visit but I'd like to visit some really good bakeries/ice cream shops/etc. also. Any suggestions?

Poured or liquid fondant - moved from Home Cooking board

Thanks. I have already done searchs on the internet but "liquid fondant" seems to be hard to come by. Plenty of places have the rolled fondant... when you look for liquid they actually turn out to be the rolled version. I was hoping someone would have tried and actually used some that could comment. And yes I have seen recipes which I will probably have to resort to . I was hoping for a supply of dry I could store and mix as needed. I have found a company in England but nothing in the US so far.

Place to eat at the bar solo?

I was in N.O. for a week alone the week after Madri Gras. I ate at many places, mostly at the bars. My favorites were Emeril's and Boucherie. At Emeril's the people in the kitchen talk with you and you can easily see all the dishes being made and finished. Everyone there was very friendly. At Boucherie I had a great experience also. You can't see the kitchen like at Emerils but the food was great and the bar staff kept me entertained...another friendly place.

Poured or liquid fondant - moved from Home Cooking board

Can someone tell me of a source in the US for purchasing poured or liquid fondant? This is not the rolled fondant for covering wedding cakes but the liquid kind for small cakes like petit-fours? I have found a source in the UK but no one seems to be able to recommend one from a US company. Either pre-made or a mix that can be mixed at home. Thank you

Favorite Food at Jazz Fest 2009.....so far

About 2 weeks ago I had a post asking for must try foods at jazzfest , being a 1st-timer and I got lots of great suggestions (the post was removed, unk why) but I did go this past week-end on Sat and all the food I tried was great! Had the much-suggested cochon de lait po'boy...succulent pulled pork sandwich with very flavorful sauce ...also tried the mango freeze...and banana bread pudding. All were excellant and thanks to all who responded to my earlier post.

Must try food at Jazzfest?

Thanks for all the suggestions. There are many items I have not even heard of, let alone tried ,so it should be fun.

Must try food at Jazzfest?

Wow...thanks for the tips...all these sound delicious. I will write these down and look for the stands. The couchon de lait poboy was mentioned several times so I will definetly try that one.

Must try food at Jazzfest?

We are coming to New Orleans for the week before Jazzfest and will only have one day actually at the Fest. Can you recommend a food item(s) that would be a "must" to eat there? Something we wouldn't find outside the fest ?

Anyone know a good source for fish stock?

Thank you all for the suggestions... I ended up finding it at Whole Foods...in the refrigerated/freezer section...didn't even think to look there...they had a few left.

Anyone know a good source for fish stock?

Anyone have a good reliable source to purchase fish or lobster stock in the area? I am in the South Loop but have a car so can travel to get it. I have not been able to find any. Thanks!

Dane Co Farmer's Market

I am hoping to visit the market within the next week or 2 on a visit to Madison...can anyone tell me if the Wednesday market is the same as Saturday? We were hoping to come out on a week-end but looks like mid week would be better for us but if the market is "way" better on Sat we will change our plans.

S.Carolina Hounds: Cross State Trip

Great... thanks for the imput!

S.Carolina Hounds: Cross State Trip

My boyfriend and I are starting a cross-South Carolina trip this coming week-end and we will be hitting the Greenville-Spartanburg area , through Columbia and onto Charleston hitting Georgetown also. We have searched the boards and have lots of recommendations for the Charleston area but have come up a little short for the others. If you were taking a trip across the state, what are the not-to-miss spots? Budget is not a problem and of course we have a car. We are especially looking for spots that are specific to the area and cuisine of the state. Thanks

Indianapolis next week-end

Great thanks for all the suggestions. I am writing everything down and will definitely try some of these !

Indianapolis next week-end

We are headed to Indianapolis next week end to check out the city ...may possibly be relocating there from Chicago and are looking for some breakfast/brunch suggestions and a couple of dinners. Have read the past posts but nothing really recent. We will be downtown but will have a car and will be checking out neighborhoods anyway so we can drive. Not really interested in Asian but other than that we are open to any price range. Looking for good neighborhood food.

One day in Traverse City...Leelanau County....

I will be spending one day in the Traverse City area...there and up into Leelanau County ..Suttons Bay area...I have read the past posts on restaurants there but if you can help me out if you only had one day to have some great meals ..where would you go? I am on a bit of a budget...no expensive blow-out meals but I would like to eat well and would welcome any suggestions for a great breakfast, lunch and dinner in the area. Especially any place that uses the local ingredients in a fresh way.

Looking for good source for Matfer Jam Pans

I have just started making jam and am looking for a source for copper jam pans....such as the Matfer brand. I am finding some companies who have the product on line but I have not dealt with any of these companies....was wondering if anyone has a reliable source I can order from?

Anone know of any cool jam jars?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will follow them up!

Anone know of any cool jam jars?

Just boiling twice within 2 consecutive days...filling the jars to the top...inverting them overnight..and they are good to go. I recently took a class with Christine Ferber...(jam lady from France) and this is the method she uses. Her jars were not typical jam jars...with the lids and rims...they were basically just regular jars I guess. This is all a bit new to me so I wasn't sure if you had to have special "jam jars" or could any be used. I will have to investigate a little more.

Anone know of any cool jam jars?

Thank you..I checked the website and I do love the way they look....the style is what I am looking for..but checking their website it seems like they only make the lids to be used in a boiling process of canning. The jams I make do not require boiling after filling the jars. I will try to contact them and see if they can be used in my process...I like the look of them.

Anone know of any cool jam jars?

This may be an unusual request but does anyone who does home jam making know of a website or location to get some interesting jam jars? I am doing some jams as gifts and want to give them in jars that are not the typical jelly glass jars? I have been on-line but can't seem to find anything at all unusual...I would love to find some wide mouth round ones with self-sealing lids (not the rings and lids that are on most jars)?

Checking out Indie for possible move....

Wow...thank you for the great suggestions...I guess Indianapolis has alot more than I thought it did..which is great to find out. If I need more info, Indygirl, I will contact you... thanks again all!
