Dining for Austin Outsiders
I love the suggestion about the visit to Whole Foods. I've taken some friends from NYC to Central Market - they are always amazed! I also agree with the suggestion about the Omelettry - not great outdoor seating but you can't beat it for Austin atmosphere.
What about Guero's Tacos or the Hula Hut - the Hula Hut is not known for its gourmet cuisine but you can't beat the view!

Coal Vine's is great but a pain on a Friday or a Saturday night. Be sure your name gets on the list - Nadia is not there anymore. But it is some of the best pizza I've had outside of NYC! And nice and well, shall we say inexpensive....
