GIOny's Profile
Moon River Grill, Sleepy Hollow
I don't know this place at all. Do you know how long it's been there? Was the space previously a restaurant?
Anton's in Croton
I've been there for breakfast and had a very nice meal. I had a belgium waffle and it was very light and delicious. DH had some egg combo and he enjoyed his meal very much. The waitstaff was very pleasant and efficient. This is a very nice addition to the area.
Interesting food related activities near West Point?
Not sure how much time your talking about but there is the CIA in Hyde Park about an hour away, I think they still do tours. The also have several restaurants there where the students cook/serve etc. If the wedding is on Saturday there should be Farmers Markets in the area, there are some across the river and south in Westchester but I'm sure there are some in that area also, try to google it. This isn't food related but West Point isn't far from Newburg which has a nice waterfront area that you can walk along, it's called Front Street so if it's a nice day you may want to consider that. I also know there are wineries in that area, unfortunately I don't know there names but maybe someone else can help with that. Good luck.
Birdsall House: Inventive, interesting, delicious, welcoming
I'm looking forward to trying it!!
Finger Lakes, NY - Wines and Vineyards
My DH and I are also planning a trip this autumn, are any of the wineries prominent in reds?
Lunch - Mohegan Lake area
Are you looking for something in Mohegan or on the way to the city? I know there is Brodies Pub in Mohegan if your looking for pub food or for Italian PIazza Roma is ok, that is in the Cortlandt Town Center.
Kid Friendly But Good Food Near Purchase, NY?
I think the Cobblestone would be very convenient. The Tap House in Tuckahoe came to mind but it may be out of the way......http://www.thetaphouseny.com/ , with the family I would ask to sit in the back, good food.

Mid to lower Hudson River Valley: Romantic restaurants?
I think Aroma Osteria, in Wappinger Falls, is romantic (i guess it depends on where they seat you) and I have had some good meals there, it's a sister restaurant to Il Barlotto, in Fishkill, which also may be a good choice...... http://www.aromaosteriarestaurant.com/home.htm and http://www.ilbarilottorestaurant.com/home.htm let us know where you end up. BTW, I would call places directly to check for reservations, I've heard more then once of problems with open table.

New in White Plains: Westchester Burger Co
Sorry to hear that about Graziella's, I've always enjoyed that place in the past but sometimes when owners spread themselves to thin the older establishments have to pay, I hope this is not the case, I hope it was just a bad night.

Good steakhouse in Westchester?
On August 16th Small bites reported about another steakhouse and the Lugers connection but if it's changed twice since 3 weeks ago then that doesn't look like a good sign.......
http://food.lohudblogs.com/2010/08/16/benjamin-steakhouse-will-open-in-october-at-the-former-mighty-joe-youngs/
Westchester could use a really good steakhouse but please not another Asian Fusion...yikes!!!
Good steakhouse in Westchester?
I doubt it, Flames is not in lower Westchester and it's not a new steakhouse. IMHO the best steakhouse in Westchester closed when Tollgate Steakhouse went out in Mamaroneck. I would be interested in hearing what place they are talking about though. I read that former employees of Peter Lugers are opening a steakhouse where Mighty Joe Youngs use to be in Hartsdale, but that hasn't happened yet. I can't think of anything in that area but will post back if I do.

BRIDGE VIEW TAVERN, SLEEPY HOLLOW NY
We went again more recently for dinner and sat at the bar waiting for the table, our bartender was great, he was very attentive, and made great drinks too. Also have to add that we tried the mac and cheese for an appetizer and it was incredible.
Thyme in Cortlandt Manor
No, sorry can't help, but curious as to where on 202? Was a restaurant there before?
Bangkok Spice in shrub Oak?
No, I have never tried it but I have read some pretty decent reviews of it. Let us know if you try it.
Mauro's in Ossining has closed
Yes, that was posted in this thread......http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/700630?tag=boards;topic-700630 was very sorry to hear of this, I enjoyed this restaurant and their reasonable prices.
Ice Cream? Gelato?
I"ve had really good gelato on the main street in Saratoga, I think that's Broadway, as your going north it's on the left side, sorry can't remember the name of it. I'm thinking it's maybe on the same block as the Wine Bar???? I just went for gelato tonight in my area of Westchester and I tried some fig gelato, it was very good!!
Cold Spring, NY dining options?
I've been to Plumbush Inn many years back but it was always good and the Hudson House is also nice down by the river.

Blue Hill at Stone Barn is RUINED for me
That's really a shame you had that experience. I would call back and ask for the manager or e-mail the manager. Try X2O in Yonkers, it's great dining with great views. OK not much antiquing in Yonkers but you can always drive a little north for that.

looking for a "quaint" Hudson River view lunch-- Cold Spring to Peekskill?
I think Hudson House would fit all the requirements, it's quaint, I'm pretty sure it has a Hudson view (I went there for dinner so it was dark) and it has pretty decent food. They also have a brunch but I think they have that in the room with the bar that doesn't have a view.
Rosita's Chicken Supreme: Pollo bueno in Mahopac
Is this where Mr. A's use to be? We had been up there several times to try their broasted chicken, it was pretty good. But you are right it is really hard to find really good fried chicken in this area. Whenever we drive down south we go through our road food book to find some good southern fried chicken.
Supposed Mafia hangout in N. Westchester with ricotta cheesecake??
I'm thinking that your talking about the old Ciro's, it was out between Croton and Yorktown, I had an uncle that used to work there as a waiter. But that place is long gone. I'm not sure of the road but I think it was on Rt. 129?? It could have also been 118?? There was always talk of that having definite Mafia ties.....allegedly, sorry I don't remember their cheesecake though.
Any place good on the Newburgh waterfront?
About a month or so ago we ate at the River Grill, I think that was the name, we enjoyed it very much.

I concur, I had a very nice lunch there, thought it was above average tavern food.
Mauro's in Ossining
I hope it's just temporary, I really enjoyed my dinner last time I was there.
Zanero's in White Plains is closed
I thought they closed the one in New Roc City awhile ago. They already have a Buffalo Wild Wings there up and running.
