Bocelli in Gyw Valley?

Have only been there for lunch - maybe a half-dozen times in 2011. No problems w/service and food was always at least good, mostly very good. Have no idea about dinners.

All-Clad Outlet in PA?

I have one similar to the one in the picture and it's definitely not non-stick. The rack is, but the roaster is not.

Trying to remember name of old Lansdale restaurant

I can't think of any restaurant that was, or is, a block off Sumneytown. And, I live about a mile from that intersection and drive through it almost daily.

Trying to remember name of old Lansdale restaurant

Yes, the Sumney Tavern replaced McPhee's. Physically, that is - doesn't come close where the food is concerned IMVHO.

Lunch in Monrgomeryville/North Wales

In Montgomeryville, Pumpernick's. In North Wales, Iron Hill Brewery. In Warrington, Wegmans.

Thanks for the Chestnut Hill suggestion

Been eating at Roller's since he opened at the Top of the Hill so many years ago I don't remember when it was! I, too, have hearing difficulty (hearing aids don't really help in restaurants because they amplify ALL sound), and enjoy the quietness of the Flying Fish. And you're also right that the food's not great, but it is very good and it's priced right for me.

Badoit availability in the Philly area?

cw - just checked Amazon - I'll pass on $10/bottle and keep drinking San Pellegrino for $12. & change for a case at Costco!

Badoit availability in the Philly area?

percyn - sent an email to Bibou and received the following reply -
Bonjour!

We order Badoit through a supplier named Julius Silvert. I do not know if they sell directly to individuals. I’d give them a call and find out if they know of a retailer.

They can be reached at 215 455 1600

Good luck!
Charlotte Calmels

PA's crazy liquor laws -- another example!

I had a similar experience with the glass chipping and no apology or comp or kiss my butt or anything from the server or the owner. So, a while ago I began decanting a bottle at home and returning it to the bottle, then putting a VacuVin stopper on it when we go to BYO's. Works just fine for me.

Badoit availability in the Philly area?

Anyone know if Badiot sparkling water is available anywhere in the Delaware Valley?

Baguette that actually tastes authentic

+1 for Bakers on Broad. Not that crazy about the pastry, but really like the breads, especially the Country Grain and the Complet loaves.

Beans for breakfast

Sounds interesting, I'm gonna try the bean/scrambled egg idea. I'm guessing there's not a lot of car-pooling with folks who are eating this daily?

Upscale in Horsham/Willow Grove - steak OK but not a chain

I give a +1 to Ooka. I have eaten at Iron Abbey, which I liked, but not Na Brasa, so I can't comment on that option.

I don't think the OP was specifically asking for a steakhouse (ie - "steak OK"). However, I agree there's not a lot to recommend in the Horsham/WG area when it comes to "upscale" dining.

Tagine in a dutch oven? [split from Moroccan Food in Phily thread]

Three words - "Paula Wolfert Cookbooks"!

Raising a non-picky eater

Here's an article from tomorrow's Parade Magazine that should be shared with all the picky eaters - http://www.parade.com/news/2011/12/the-girl-who-couldnt-eat.html

Raising a non-picky eater

Never good to generalize - I'm a firstborn and am constantly looking for something I haven't done before, or eaten before, or visited before, or..or..or - you get the idea! My middle brother still eats and drinks the same things he did as a 6 year-old, hasn't been outside the northeast US except once and rarely ventures beyond the county he lives in.

Raising a non-picky eater

All kids do better "under" someone other than their parents. Think back to your own childhood.

Blessed with TWO fresh pineapples. Any idea of what to do with them?

I buy a pineapple weekly, cut the peel away, quarter it length-wise, remove the core, slice it length-wise and then width-wise into bite-size pieces, put it in a container, place it in the frig and have about a dozen slices a day. There is always pineapple in my frig. It's like eating candy, it's so sweet and a great nutritional daily snack!

Mad Mex Willow Grove

This sounded kind of interesting...until I looked at the Nutritional Info on the website. The sodium levels in their food are unbelievably high and calories are also pretty well up there. Sodium content is the reason I haven't been in a PF Changs since they started putting the Nutritional Info on their website. There's no reason to have food with that amount of sodium in it. If people want to risk their heart health, put salt shakers on the table and let them do it to themselves.

Anybody out there tried The Vine and Fig in Doylestown?

I've only had lunch at Vine & Fig Tree (3x), and I found it to be hit or miss. I don't recall what I had to eat, but I remember leaving the first time and saying that I'd give them a second chance, which must have been decent-to-good, because I went back a third time (ate outside on a nice summer day) and disliked the salad, but enjoyed the sandwich. I'll probably go back sometime.

Where are you getting your turkey?

+1 for Bolton's

Goomba's has some serious eats

Maybe it's not nuked today, but there were no ovens there the last (and only) time I bought a pizza there.

Non-chain restaurants near the Willow Grove Mall?

+1 for Pho & Beyond, Iron Abbey and Ooka. Haven't been to the others cw recommends.

Dinner in New Hope, Lambertsville or Doylestown

+2 for Honey and also agree with AmblerGirl's assessment of New Hope, with one exception - I agree with CindyJ on Phillips Mill as being the best of the New Hope area with the BYO feature giving you the chance to bring a really good wine at retail pricing.

The decline of the Italian Hoagie

Bacchus - have you tried Talutto's on Foundry Rd,, just off Germantown Pike or Trooper Road (depending on where you're driving from). Good roll, good ingredients and the meat doesn't overwhelm the veggies.

Preserved Lemons

That's a good recipe and Molly Stevens' recipe in "All About Braising" is the one I prefer.

Recommendations for dinner near CDG & Orly?

I'm flying out of CDG after an overnight stay at the airport Marrriott. What recommendations are there for dinner on a Wednesday night? A few weeks later, I'll be flying out of Orly after an overnight stay at a Marriott in Arcueil on a Saturday night and I'm looking for dinner in that area also.

Dining while a hurricane bears down on us

Just how different is that "mania" from our "winter storm" mania?

I have fish, duck, steak and oxtail ragu in the freezer. Have enough Redpack tomatoes, garlic and basil to make a couple of batches of marina. I'm always in possession of a couple of cases of San Pellegrino and a few cases of wine and at least a half case of champagne. Went to the FM today and picket up enough veggies for 3-4 days. Have some cherries and just cut up a pineapple. Have a gas stove and a gas grill. When you add all of that up, I think it means that I won't lose power because I'm prepared for it!

Baguette that actually tastes authentic

+4 Alice 's and second Crossroads - also St. Peter's Bakery makes a nice baguette

Outdoor Dining Suggestions.....Montco/Bucks County

Lived in Bucks a long time and I don't ever recall hearing of Penns Park. Assuming I'm at the Courthouse in Doylestown, how do I get to Villa Nuova?
