Greek Food Products?

As an Astoria, I got to Mediterranean Foods regularly when I am seeking to make Greek dishes. I definitely recommend it. In addition, there is a Greek butcher next door which marinates multiple types of souvlaki.

In addition to the above markets, I would also recommend Euro Market at 31Street just south of 30th Ave, which has a number of European goods, but has a great selection of Greek goods.

Shake Shack or Rare Bar and Grill?

Shake Shack experience is what it is all about. The burger is good... just good. There are other, better burgers in NYC.

Bohemia Hall Food Etiquette?

Food from outside is not allowed, at least not according to signs hanging in the doorway.

I recently realized that some people do not realize that there is an inside menu vs an outside menu. The food at the grill outside is just plain bad... even when drunk. Something about ice cold saurekraut that leaves me feeling ill.

On the other hand, the food inside is great. I have never had a soup there that is not incredible, and I've had plenty of soup there. The pork praha (a pork chop coated in potato pancake, served with creamed spinach) is great too.

Best packaged bacon?

I would recommend exploring the UES... the remaining Hungarian and German butcher shops are very good for Eastern European/German smoked sausages and bacons...

Leaving NY! What should I have before I go?

Agree... where are you moving to? I moved to Europe for a year, and wish I had eaten more Mexican before departing... I really missed that more than anything else because you couldn't get that.

Looking to Carbo-Load for NY Bike Tour

When originally signing up for the bike tour last month, I thought to myself that it would be a great opportunity to go out the Saturday before, and load myself full of carbs. However, with the day growing closer, I have realized that I have not thought ahead, and I need to figure something out soon.

Anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking family style Italian, but am open to other ideas for just this kind of occasion.

Thanks.

mid town recommendations?

When I hear Time Square & food, one of two things pops into my head...

Little Korea

Little Brazil

Fun, casual, great food.

Best bar for Bourbon?

Not the greatest lists, but I know that
Blue Smoke:

and The Whiskey Ward:

have good selections.
Still have yet to find find anything like Old Glory in Washington, DC, or just being in Louisville.

FUN Dinner Downtown for Going Away Party??

Puglia's in Little Italy is a great choice. Just had about 18 people there for dinner around Christmas. Cheap wine, great family style food, lounge singer, guy dressed as Elvis playing the accordian... it has it all. Though they did mess up our reservation a little and we ended up waiting, but they managed to accomodate without too much stress.
