Bad rhubarb experiences. Any recipes to convert me?
rhubarb should be firm and crisp like celery. when i find at the grocery store, this is hardly the case, usually they store it too long and its already floppy. i was converted to love rhubarb with this recipe

also, i make rhubarb squares, which has no recipe, just a graham cracker crust, rhubarb and raspberry pie filling ingredients and a crumb topping. yum!
cinco de mayo-margaritas and dessert?
invited some friends over for after dinner wine and cheese in the late evening, without realizing it will be cinco de mayo. now we're making margaritas but I'm at a loss for little snacks and/or desserts. ideas?

buttermilk biscuits-self rising or ap flour?
I've been using this biscuit recipe:

that calls for AP flour. however, i'm all out and have a bunch of self rising flour (national brand) to use up. do i keep the baking powder, baking soda and salt in the recipe or is it redundant with self rising flour?

Is the chile negro the same as mulato? I found this:

I just can't decide where to take my parents, siblings and couple friends for dinner saturday night-- i've been procrastinating so much my #1 choice, cucina urbana is fully booked. Previously, I've taken them to urban solace which is awesome. also, I really wanted to go to the pearl, but it will just be too cold to sit outside :( and wine vault and bistro is closed for thanksgiving weekend :( there's 10 of us including 2 vegetarians and other picky eaters. I'd like to keep entrees under $20 if possible. must take reservations. any location coronado to del mar (we're in university heights).

shout out to fifty-seven degrees wine shop. I found this new place just by driving by (actually on the way home from specialty produce). they have an intriguing selection and i always leave with more than I planned on buying. good prices and super friendly staff!
