A New Place To Try in Pelham - Lambo's

Thank you for posting about this place I am looking forward to getting over there as soon as possible. Are they located across the street from the firehouse?

Bill Rieber's restaurant

FYI http://food.lohudblogs.com/2012/05/22/antuns-of-westchester-to-close-were-seeking-memories-and-photos/

Station House - Bronxville

I didn't hang out there either I just knew that Cupcake cooked at Maudes's and went to work at Pete's after Maude's closed. He was a big, affable red head and a good short order cook/chef I thought you might have remembered him.

Station House - Bronxville

I almost edited my post to add that back when "cupcake" ( do you remember him he was the cook at Maude's in Tuckahoe) was cooking mid 80's I think, the food at Pete's was exactly as you described, but it could have been the vodka!

Station House - Bronxville

I liked the old Pete's for what it was and knew the family for a long time, they were great people. Regardless the food is incomparable. Good quality hand formed burgers, house made salad dressings, fresh produce... vs the former frozen patties and other institutional type offerings.

Station House - Bronxville

I had a very good burger at Pete's recently and I really liked the lemon Vinaigrette that dressed the accompanying salad. I had a few of my friends sweet potato fries and liked those too.

Polpettina homestyle pizza kitchen (Fisher Ave. Eastchester) this is so much more than just pizza...

I treated myself to lunch at Polpettina today and it was simply outstanding. I had a grandma slice with ricotta, speck, and spring onion and the chicken milinase sandwich/hero with roasted peppers, arugula pesto, and house made mozzarella.

LaManda's Restaurant in White Plains

We have not been there since last summer however the food at that time was still good. As a matter of fact the pork chops with vinegar and cherry peppers were some of the best I've had anywhere. Is the interior any different. I would think if under new ownership the first thing order of business would be to renovate the dining room. ( I personally don't mind it )

Fresh Market - Scarsdale

I had an issue with something I bought there. I called and spoke with a female manager. She was a pleasure to deal with and made everything very easy. I can't complain about FM customer service.

Sushi in Westchester

Sushi Nanase is / was ( have not been there in a long time) a very special place that said it is also light years more expensive than Azuma. I feel it is less accessible in that it is prohibitively expensive and not the kind of place you can just walk into when you feel like some sushi. IMHO Azuma is more than just fine especially compared to other sushi in the County.

Bronxville Castle

Word of mouth is the way to go Sloth. I also hope that they thought to drop menus off at Sarah Lawrence. I'm tempted to take a stack and to do it myself.

Personally I like Azuma in Hartsdale

Minette's Feast "The Delicious Story of Julia Child and her Cat"

Has anyone picked this up ?

Bronxville Castle

I stopped by at lunch time today to pick something up for dinner for my husband. I Brought home chicken leg quarters that had been cooked with potatoes redolent of a mixture of Egyptian spices. I also had a bit of the yellow rice with diced peppers, and the rice with lentils thrown in. Everything was as good as ever and so different than anything else in the area. Has anyone else been by lately?

Gluten Free Restaurants around Westchester

Although not exclusively gluten free last time I was there they had a nice selection of gluten free items and it's a really cute place: http://www.redbarn-bakery.com/red_barn_bakery.html

Fresh Market - Scarsdale

Thanks jwg I picked up a pint of Jenni's and a pint of Talenti.

Jade Gardens Gone

Thank you for the update jwg and Pabboy.

Cerbone of Naples, White Plains

Just under the description of the dish it states ( on the bone chicken $3.00 extra) I made a point of looking because I only order on the bone.

Fresh Market - Scarsdale

No, at $11.99 a pint I was going to wait to see if anyone had tried it and could recommend. I am probably going to obsess about it so I suppose I can take one for the team.

Fresh Market - Scarsdale

I stopped in this week and the prices across the board appear to have dropped significantly. BTW has anyone tried "Jeni's" brand ice cream? It is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but with flavors like brown butter almond brittle, goat cheese with red cherries and hummingbird cake ...well

Burrata Eastchester

As per the Polpettina thread where the chicken parm hero was discussed, Polpettina's chicken parm hero is made with Chicken, breading, cheese, sauce (no garlic) It is not prepared with garlic and the taste of garlic really isn't discernible in their tomato sauce. If your sandwich tasted like garlic between two slices of bread then something went terribly wrong, this is not typical of their chicken parm hero.

I have not been to Burrata because that style of pizza is just not my thing but a friend of mine had dinner there several weeks ago and said that the portions were tiny especially the octopus which she said was just laughable, something like three tiny pieces. How are the lunch portions at Burrata.

Jade Gardens Gone

thx

Jade Gardens Gone

So they are still slated to close? I am confused, it really looked as if they were closed and that renovations had started a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday they were back in business.

Jade Gardens Gone

?

Jade Gardens Gone

I'm aware that is often the case. There is no new/grand opening signage, same people. I was referring to the following "In an email this morning from the Greenburgh Town supervisor, Jade Garden, at 156 Central Avenue will be remodeled by a new lessee and converted into a sports bar. The work should commence shortly."

Jade Gardens Gone

Very strange...I passed by last week and the restaurant appeared to be closed signage on the front door gone. Today they were open for business.

lol, between Chowser and the uncharacteristic typo I thought you were hacked!
