Chelsea Small Plates

I'm coming down from Boston at the end of the month and meeting my cousin who's flying in from Detroit. We need some advice for places we can meet for dinner around Chelsea. Small plates preferred, and classic cocktails if possible. We're seeing Sleep No More at 6pm, so we can't eat anything too heavy beforehand because we're spending our evenings sprinting around.

Any help is much appreciated!

Gourmet magazine to close

Apparently Conde Nast is closing Gourmet magazine after the November issue comes out: http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/05/conde-nast-to-close-gourmet-magazine/. What a shame. I wonder what will happen to epicurious.

10th wedding anniversary: is Oleana the best choice?

Our second wedding anniversary is coming up soon too, and we're going to KO Prime and Sportello. Last year for our anniversary weekend we ate at Mooo and Scampo, which were outstanding. Rendezvous in Central Square is also wonderful. Sportello, Scampo, and Rendezvous are all not too formal, and have Italian and French influences. I'm sure you'd like any one of them.

Lamb from Sunday Suppers at Lucques

I make this every year for Easter, and it's delicious. It's very involved - lots of steps - but not difficult. I make the romesco sauce for the potatoes and the chorizo stuffing the day before and also set the lamb up to marinate overnight. Then the day of all that's left to do is roast everything, freeing you up to work on other sides. The leftover romesco sauce is also amazing in scrambled eggs the next day.

Favorite popcorn recipe/ topping?

My favorite is browned butter, chopped rosemary, a bit of lemon zest, and grated parm.

In need of a coffee shop

Cafe Vittoria in the North End is gorgeous, and the coffee and gelato are delicious.
