Buttery Wines

I am pretty serious craft beer snob and have largely shunned wine for some time.

The other day, I had a glass of wine at Stone Barns in New York. It was absolutely incredible. It was a Paul Chapelle Mersault. The quality that was so amazing to me the the oily, butteryness of it. I have since been drinking Mersault like crazy. However, the $50/bottle price tag has been hurting quite a bit. And forget about ordering a bottle at a restaurant (see $120+).

Does anyone have any recommendations for a similarly buttery wine in a more reasonable price range?

Lunch in Sausalito

Looks great!

We actually may bike to Tiburon as well. If there is a better lunch spot there we are open to that as well. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Lunch in Sausalito

I will be over in the Bay area in a few weeks. We plan on biking over the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito. Any recommendations on a good lunch spot before the ride back would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hot Gastropubs in San Fran

I've done the Anchor Brewery on a previous visit to the Bay area and highly recommend it. This time, we're stepping it up a notch and taking a day trip to Sonoma for the Russian River and Bear Republic breweries.

Anyone ever heard of ChurchKey in SF?

There's an unbelievable restaurant in DC with the same name, but there does not seem to be any connection. I also don't see any website for the San Fran ChurchKey. Any insight would be appreciated!

Hot Gastropubs in San Fran

Abbot's Cellar looks just flat out on the money. Monk's Kettle had been floated to me from someone as well and also looks great. Thanks very much for the suggestions.

Hot Gastropubs in San Fran

Coming to San Fran next week with a few buddies. We're big into the beer culture, but we also love fine grub and a good scene. We would greatly appreciate recommendations for some gastropub-type joints with exceptional beer lists, great menus and a good crowd. We need to fill four nights.

FYI - We're potentially going to Wexler's one night (which from my review of the menu looks good but a tad short on the beer list). Any thoughts on this place would be appreciated as well!

Thanks all!

Private Dining for 2

Anyone know of any restaurants with a private dining for 2 people?

I know most of the private rooms are for larger groups.

So far, I've only found Maialino.

DuMont in Williamsburg

Not looking for anything to specific or crazy. Just looking for a fun, somewhat energetic atmosphere. Want to make sure its a spot that will be somewhat happening, not a place with older couples having dinner or filled with double-daters.

DuMont in Williamsburg

The reviews for this restaurant are fairly unanimously very positive.

I am going to Williamsburg with a friend this upcoming weekend, and I wanted a place that is somewhat busy and happening. Reasonable amount of women and a good bar scene while we wait would be nice.

Is DuMont that kind of place?

If not, any suggestions in the Williamsburg area for that kind of thing?

Going to Jean-Georges tonight! WHAT TO GET?

I am going to Jean-Georges tonight. It may be the only time in my life that I will go there. So I want to be very careful to order correctly. Hence, to the chowhound blog I came. Please give me any suggestions you have. Thanks!

Best Beer Restaurants in Phoenix?

Funny you say that. I was in AZ around this time in 2008. I went to Four Peaks. Had their IPA on cask. I couldnt stop drinking it. I think I tried one other beer for the sake of diversity, but returned to the casked IPA the rest of the night.

Best Beer Restaurants in Phoenix?

From what I can tell, AZHOTDISH is the Phoenix All-Star of the Chowhound forum. Excellent suggestions in many threads.

J&G looks fantastic. Steak tartare frites, Swet & Sour Pork Belly bar apps sound perfect. Pair them with a Schneider Aventinus and an Avery IPA. Beautiful.

Thanks.

Best Beer Restaurants in Phoenix?

I am going to Phoenix this weekend and I need to plan my eating/drinking itinerary. I've been before, so I know a few of the basics, but I need input from you folks.

These are probably closer to the bar side of the bar-to-restaurant spectrum, but I will start the list with:

Papago
Delux

What else you guys have for me?

What to get at Joe's Shanghai

I know, of course, to get the soup dumplings.

Any further suggestions regarding the remainder of the meal?

What to get at Apizz?

I have heard great things about the Apizz Bianca which is a three-cheese spinach pizza appetizer.

Anyone else have any recommendations?

I am going with one other person, so another appetizer and a couple of entrees.

Thanks in advance.

$150 all in. Food + 2 drinks each (or a reasonably priced bottle of wine).
