Looking at Charles' post about the steak frites lunch at Cafe Boulud ( http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/902284 ) made me hungry for some! Suggestions for some goodies at a good price? |

Vancouver, Whistler, Tofino family trip - suggestions please Do you have any suggestions for seafood places in Ukee that you have enjoyed? |

Vancouver, Whistler, Tofino family trip - suggestions please Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions. I guess that I really need to nail down Vancouver as there are the most terrific options there. For lunches I have Japadog (my son would love it), Fresh Local Wild , Meat + Bread. Any others that we should consider if we come across them in our travels? I never "plan" lunch too much - just take a list of good places and pray it we end up at one of them around lunchtime. Dinner is more planned usually, and I think Guu Garlic, either Adesso or a pizza place (Tevere?) and a sushi place are in order - maybe Miko or another place I read about called Minami that sounded promising. Re: pizza, how does via Tevere compare to Novo or the Nook which I have read about on this board + look to be closer to where we are staying? As for travelling to Richmond for Cantonese, I would prather stay closer to downtown for our dinners. Thanks again everyone. La Quercia is out - this is the type of direction I need!! |

Vancouver, Whistler, Tofino family trip - suggestions please We will be in these places this summer. Vancouver: Staying in downtown Vancouver without a car but willing to cab and use public transport to get around. I have been reading many posts and have a list of places that we may want to try. Kids are teens and like most food (one is a bit limited in that she will only eat chicken/turkey and......bacon - I know!). Would love to try excellent Cantonese, sushi, maybe Italian as it is a family favourite. Have Miko, maybe one of the Guus on the list, and am interested in trying the new Wolfe place in Yaletown when it opens. What's good for Italian around downtown? La Quercia looks great but is it family friendly (both for atmosphere and pocketbook?!). Kids enjoy dining out and really like to try new things for the most part. (Also, we will spend 2 nights with family and old friends so they might have their favourites to share as well.) Whistler: We won't have a kitchen and don't want high end places so thinking good diners perhaps. Have Mongolie Grill on the list as our friends loved it. Any suggestions would be so welcome as I know little about dining here. Tofino: Will stop on the way from Nanaimo to shop as we have a kitchen in our unit. So far the list is : Tacofino, Sobo, and Shelter. If we make it to Ucluelet at night will try Cyn. Any comments would be great. Thanks in advance! Really looking forward to our visit. |

Have never been to any of these isakaya places. We like Japanese food and have done a fair share of sushi places and teppanyaki dinners over the years. Which of these places would you suggest with a couple of older kids in tow? |

Sushi making classes in/near downtown Vancouver Just looked at the Dirty Apron but they don't have any sushi classes during our time frame. They have a great looking Japanese isakaya class though at the end of August. |

Mothers Day food related gift guide They do one every month so there will be a May one - either the first or last Monday of the month I think. |

Sushi making classes in/near downtown Vancouver Hello, Part of our summer trip will take us to Vancouver for a few days and I was hoping to find a family-friendly sushi making class for us. The kids are 12 and 15 and love cooking classes. Any ideas on where to look? Thanks. |

Mothers Day food related gift guide Culinarium is having a wine + cheese class on May 28th that they are suggesting for Mother's Day: Another fun class may be Mama Rosa's cooking class at 7 Numbers on Eglinton. |

Most Overrated Restaurant in Toronto I will have to say Buca. I know it gets a lot of love here, but my experience was not good. The service was not gracious. I was with a group of 4 couples and one of my dining companions asked the server what "pecorino" was. I think she thought that it was some sort of pepper. Instead of just giving her a response he looked at her for a really long moment as if she had 3 green heads and said "cheese". That killed it for me. The space is nice, the food was okay but the service continued in that vein all evening. This was a couple of years ago and perhaps we were just not lucky that eve, but I will spend my money elsewhere. |

Fish Street Market and Open Kitchen - Yonge and Eglinton It is at 2584 Yonge Street. North of Briar Hill and south of Albertus on the west side. |
|
|
Fish Street Market and Open Kitchen - Yonge and Eglinton I agree. Chef Anthony and his wife + partner Daniela seem like great people and this is just the type of place that you want to see thrive. (I posted a pic below so you will know what you are looking for from the street.) |

Fish Street Market and Open Kitchen - Yonge and Eglinton Went back for those lobster rolls. Delicious. Served with perfect polenta fries and a vegetable side. I opted for a sort of creole salad and it was yummy. They gave me a taste of their in house smoked salmon which was wonderful. Service is fantastic. I will be back...and back...and back. |

Playa Cabana, Mexican -111 Dupont, a quick review Did anyone else hear that they will be moving the 111 Dupont location to 14 Dupont at Avenue Road - formerly Adriatico and Vittorio's on Avenue? Hope this is true...more space and a great patio. |

Best weekday breakfast within 10-15 minute walk from Sheraton Centre, Toronto Great ideas everyone. Thanks so much. Is Little Nicky's a coffee shop with hot drinks and donuts, or can one have a "proper" breakfast there, ie, eggs + bacon type stuff? |
|

Best weekday breakfast within 10-15 minute walk from Sheraton Centre, Toronto Maybe this for pizza at dinner?: (I know....answering my own posts....just found this - I had thought that Terron opened a higher end place at the Queen and Victoria location, not a pizza-pasta place.) |

Exit 1 - Key Biscayne - Anyone been? Awwww. This is too bad. I had heard very mixed reviews but was hopeful for them. The Miami New Times gave it a terrible review around Christmastime. http://www.miaminewtimes.com/2012-12-... |

Brunch/Early lunch Saturday on Ossington Thanks for all of the replies. Just found out that they moved the production to the Bathurst Street Theatre at Bathurst and Bloor - so must do White Brick Kitchen. Looks awesome. Will save the Saint for another time! |

Brunch/Early lunch Saturday on Ossington I am taking my teenaged daughter to brunch/early lunch on a Saturday before a show at the Lower Ossington Theatre. We have been to Union (and loved it). She wouldn't like Delux. I was thinking maybe either The Saint or Libretto. Any suggestions? |

good eating spot for Tuesday night.. not too loud? Maybe Sidecar. Bonuses are that you can make an opentable reservation and they have a prix fixe menu available, making it easier on the wallet: http://www.sidecarrestaurant.ca/prix_... I love Playa Cabana but find it so noisy! |
|

For me it's the kale salad - not the meat dishes:) |

Anyone know where to find an online menu? Their website doesn't have one so I am thinking that I am out of luck. |

Fish Street Market and Open Kitchen - Yonge and Eglinton Out walking the dog I noticed that this new place has opened. I think it was mentioned on this site already, but not in its own thread. My friend took out the lobster poboys for lunch and said that they were amazing. I just got a look at them and they did look yummy. Around $12 - 13 for 3 rolls and some small salad/veg sides. Next time I am leaving the dog at home and going in! Anyone else tried this place yet? They will batter and cook fish to order as well. |
