I have finalized my Napa / San Fran Itinenary

A couple of other seafood restaurants that would be memorable for a SF visit include Waterbar (updated classic) or LaMar (Peruvian), both with a view and not very far from Union Sq.

Though after having a late lunch at Swan, you might want something besides seafood. For something completely different, consider Thai at Lers Ros or Burmese Kitchen or Azziza for Cal.Morrocan.

mexican wine pairings

I would pour a La Cetto Nebbiolo Reserva (See: http://www.wine-searcher.com/wine-info-cse.lml?cms_tab=1&tab_wine=wine-11516-0001-l-a-cetto-reserva-privada-nebbiolo-baja-california-mexico&cx=018148841331049500731%3A_q29wijfex8&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=ISO-8859-1&query=L.+A.+Cetto+%27Reserva+Privada%27+Nebbiolo%2C+Baja+California%2C+Mexico+)

If you don't want a Mexican wine, a similar medium bodied flavorful wine, maybe a Washington Cab. like this one: http://www.columbiacrest.com/horseHeavenHills/release/176

HIP COFFEE PLACE "A LA STUMPTOWN" IN THE QUARTER OR UPTOWN?

Try Orange Couch in the Marigny.

Mega Visit -- Trip Report In Progress

The snapper in tarragon pistou I had at August was really, really great.

Are you going to any more new places? I really enjoyed Maurepas Foods (green onion sausage with fig jam and arancini was a great plate) and Green Goddess (especially the spagetti with tuna heart).

Type of tea in milk tea? (Wonderful Foods)

For the Hong Kong Milk Tea at Slanted Door/Out the Door they use a blend from Imperial Tea Company called Asian Paradise ( https://www.imperialtea.com/Asian-Paradise-Blend-P397.htmlp ) and the instructions on the package calls for 2 tablespoons of tea for 8 oz. of boiling water, steep for 3 minutes and add two tablespoons of "condensed milk." It must mean sweetened condensed milk, as it is definitely sweet when they serve the tea.

Lo-Sugar or sugar-free pastries in Marin?

How about this place - limited hours, but their claim is "We use only whole-grain flour, primarily fruit for sweetening...."

Lo-Sugar or sugar-free pastries in Marin?

Not quite sure if they have what you are looking for, but Rustic Bakery has a few locations in Marin.

Sonoma: Favorite Purveyors?

Could you clarify: Sonoma the town, or elsewhere in Sonoma County?

What are your favorite new gins?

Q Ginger Ale makes a great gin buck, too.

Suggestions for tea?

Red Blossom has very fine teas. It is a great place to visit, and they will brew some for you to taste. http://www.redblossomtea.com/tea/black/formosa-red-18.html

Imperial is good and fun to visit, too. https://www.imperialtea.com/Organic-English-Breakfast-P91.htmlp

Restaurrants to try in SF

Mexican Restaurant Suggestions in Oakland/Berkeley..

One more new spot to try: formerly only at Alemany Farmer's and Flea Market, Huarache Loco now has a very nice brick/mortar restaurant at Marin County Mart/Larkspur Landing. I tried the sope with "alambre" steak/bacon (not as meaty as it sounds - it had more thinly sliced grilled (mild) peppers and onions than thinly sliced meat), which was really good. The horchata was not too sweet and the other aguas looked good to. The outside tables are great on a nice day.

Burgers and coffee, that's elf food, apparently -- your thoughts solicited

4505 is there every Thursday, too. http://www.cuesa.org/markets/thursday

What are your favorite new gins?

Did ya see this article about Hangar One's 3 new gins? The one I tried (sorry, I forget which one ;/) ), was really great. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-02-14/features/sc-food-0210-drink-st-george-gin-20120214_1_gin-lance-winters-smell

Burgers and coffee, that's elf food, apparently -- your thoughts solicited

You're right that Super Duper doesn't cook to order, but it is still a good experience for what it is, with well-sourced meat, the all-you-can-eat pickles, good selection of drinks, etc.

Prather Ranch has a new spot in the Ferry Building making burgers, definitely made to order, and other tasty items. http://prmeatco.com/american-eatery/ And next door at Frog Hollow you can try some Verve coffee.

In Oakland, a couple of other option are Flora's burger, which comes with great fries and a salad dressed with too much blue cheese dressing; I order the burger w/o cheese and use some salad instead. Luka's Tap Room also make a good burger, and really great fries. Both of those options are fairly near Blue Bottle's Jack London HQ.

Off the Beaten Track Restaurant Finds for Our (Slightly) Off the Beaten Track Sicily Itinerary?

Another option around the corner from Citicorp Plaza at 225 Bush is the Curry Up Now truck, which is really good if you like SPICY food. http://www.curryupnow.com/weekly-schedule/

Or maybe Galette 88, which is a big enough space. http://www.galettesf.com/#!

Best palmier in SF?

I think the ones made by Starter are amazing. http://starterbakery.com/

Unusual SouthBay goodies for my Wicked Aunts Tour?

Cannoli, ice cream and espressos at Romolo's.

Cafe Fanny closing tomorrow 3/9

That's a good question! I hope it continues.
Another one you might enjoy is from Rustic Bakery (not sure of all the outlets, but some grocers do have it). http://www.rusticbakery.com/store/cereal/

Fresh orecchiette or other hand-formed pasta

Maybe Baia would let you buy some fresh off of the brass extruder, before they are dried.

Mexican Restaurant Suggestions in Oakland/Berkeley..

One note about the carnitas at Jalisco, it is available Fri.-Sun. only - don't miss the salsa verde.

A few places not yet mentioned:

Taco Grill in Fruitvale - notable for pozole, sustainable meats. Mexican Ice Cream next door at Nieves Cinco de Mayo. Very nice owners of both establishments.

Casa Latina on San Pablo at Delaware - bakery and taquieria, with great carnitas tortas.

The nice, new place is Rumbo al Sur. Not strictly Mexican, but similar....

The divey-ist, also not strictly Mexican, are the great pupusas at Tamales mi Lupita trailer parked at Foothill/34th. Don't go after dark, but worth a detour!

La Borinequena - Tina's Tamales are the modern off-shoot, and the chicken tamale with green sauce is great.

Advice for Petaluma,Novato and Sebastapol

Wild Flour Bakery is worth a quick and beautiful detour from downtown Sebastopol, if you want to try another great bakery stop besides Della Fatoria in Petaluma (the latter of which you can also find at the SF Ferry Building's Saturdays Farmer's Market),
