Burmese Food Fest

sounds delicious...i feel awful that i couldn't attend this year........did you happen to ask anyone if they new of a burmese restaurant in queens? after burmese cafe closed down...i've been looking around for another spot.

i know a lady in jackson heights who sells burmese items and every time i go and pick up things, i ask her but she says nothing yet...well not an official burmese place like burmese cafe or mingala. she gave me the one in whitestone, but they don't have so many items...and then the business card of someone who caters from his house.

Restaurant Recommendations for 1st Time Visitors to NYC

i loooove "spain restaurant" on 13th street between 6th and 7th ave. you can get a big big almost bucket size serving of paella with lobster, mussels, shrimp etc. this is real spanish food from spain. they have an nice area that's very cozy and also a back area that's more family style. they give you four free aps when you order a (like chorizo, mussels in white wine sauce, ribs etc.). the paella can feed 2-3-4 people depending on how much ppl eat. so i guess this is the item you would splurge on. some places charge about $30-$35 for it but theirs is a little less than $17. wine is cheap too and good sangria.

Fantastic Big Flat Lamb Noodle Soup in Flushing, 41-28 Main

in search for chinese dumplings

i need help with dumplings, i'm trying to look for something that is close to the stuff i got on a recent trip to china. the stuff in china just melted in your mouth and had just the right amt of meat/filling. the dough was good and the juices/broth were just wonderful!

i really want to find a boiled/steamed dumpling place (not really interested in fried) in FLUSHING. i know abt the one in elmhurst (which is good) but i'm always in flushing checking out the fish markets/supermarkets there so i'd like to chow on some dumplings while walking around.

i read almost all the posts on chinese dumplings on chowhound and took a print out with me when i went to flushing last weekend but it was just too confusing. anyways i tried the shandong lady but her boiled/steamed ones were TOO salty! so i was afraid to take some frozen home in case those were salty too. i've never had salty dumplings in beijing and i'm not a fan of salt anyways.
so if anyone has any recs for flushing please help (street food or sit down is fine).

also, has anyone bought the fish from the supermarket opp. golden mall? does anyone know if it's fresh?

i wish we had a chow street map of flushing maybe focused on only a few streets.

Authentic Dominican Food

i heard el malecon is better than el conde, i used to get the chicken or ribs from el malecon, their mofongo is good too. they are both on 174th and broadway in washington heights, there's also another one on 182nd and St Nicholas, its new and really good, the decor is nice too, they have really good mofongo. it's called casa del mofongo (something like that) and it's right after the 1 train's 181st train stop.

Fried chicken for a party in Bklyn?

aloo pie : knish

"No knishes here, never has been"

dude, you missed the point. the 'knish' they are talking abt is the aloo pie, not the potato knish.
