Please help a CA hound, plan a NY New Year's Eve

Hi,

My husband and I are from San Francisco, but we'll be celebrating New Year's Eve in Manhattan. We'd like to find a fun, festive, and (dare I say) 'trendy' party to ring in the New Year (as that day is also our wedding anniversary). There are just so many options, and we're looking for as much advice as possible making our decision. Any suggestions?

Things we're looking for:
- great food and drinks (budget is no issue)
- a fun vibe with good music and dancing
- dressy attire (we'd like to go all out, so it would preferable if the party had a 'dress code' of at least cocktail attire)
- a "younger" crowd (mid-20's to 40's), but not we're not looking for the crazy 21-year old scene.

We do not need to have a view of the ball drop.

Suggestions?

Thank you!

which wine to pair with turkey?

I am hosting my first thanksgiving, and while I enjoy wine, I'm no expert.
What is a good match for oven roasted turkey? I will be brining the turkey with a citrus and herb mix.

Any specific recommendations for around $30-40 a bottle?

Thanks!

Cheese Tasting in Marin or Sonoma Co.?

Hello,

We'll be driving through Marin and Sonoma counties soon on our way to the coast (gualala). I love cheese, and have always wanted to visit a cheese tasting room. Whether it's a farm, ranch, or local store with a good selection, I would appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks!

Seeking East Bay Place Open VERY Early (or 24 Hours) for Breakfast

You must go to Millie's Kitchen in Lafayette. I love that place. It's just off of Highway 24 between Pleasant Hill and Oakland. The address is: 1018 Oak Hill Rd. Lafayette. 925-283-2397. They open at 5am on Sunday. Their coffee cake is delicious.

have fun :)

Looking for Chez Panisse Level Dinner in East Bay

not sure if these 'measure up' to chez panisse, but I like them:
berkeley/oakland: eccolo in berkeley (on 4th street), a cote (near citron) on college, garibaldi's on college.
Bridges in Danville is good, but I haven't been there in years.

good luck!

graduation dinner in San Francisco, recs please!

Hey fellow foodies,
I'm graduating in May from USF (Richmond District / Panhandle area). I'm looking for a place to have a small graduation dinner (10 people or less) in San Francisco.

Places I want to avoid: crowded, fancy/stuffy, expensive, extremely difficult parking, and small plates (relatives are not big fans of small plates).

Things I want: the ability to make a reservation, good food (preferably a place that values and/or emphasizes sustainability), something unique to San Francisco with seafood and vegetarian options.
Is that picky enough? :)

I'm an east bay native, and don't really venture into SF that often for dinner. I need some help!

Thanks!
