The "New Northern dumplings" in scarborough on silver star blvd. is pretty good for dumplings and other dishes. The last few times i've gone they made (rolled the skin/filled the dumpling) the dumplings only when the order has been received which is a plus in my books vs establishments such as dumpling king who make dumplings throughout the day and put it in the steamer when its ordered.

my experience was quite the opposite ...i had the XLB 3 weeks ago and it was utter disappointment... virtually no soup inside and the skin was too thick for my liking....

i thought it was good the time's i've had it.

i think the op was looking for a place that would serve a decent "typical 8 or 9 course meal that they serve in Chinese weddings?" therefore, i do not think that swatow will fit that bill.

I was there as well .... but when i got there they had run out of ribs.
Outside - ppl had takeout containers due to the fact that they have not opened it up yet....they advised that the weather has been inconsistent so they have not opened it up but patrons were free to dine out there via takeout (But they had not planned for staff to be out there)
- pulled pork and brisket were good albeit the sauce took away from the smokiness abit
- smoked wings were a 2 thumbs down.. i've had much better at memphis bbq in vaughan and camp31 in paris
- and agreed with TorontoJo ... mac n cheese was a roux with a sprinkle of cheese on top... felt like an unfinished product to me.
- the homemade pies were outstanding btw.
