Craft beer Imperial beach?
I will be in Imperial beach during the first week of July. Any bars/restaurants with a decent craft beer selection in or near I.B.?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Pubs near Trolley
Thanks for the tip on Regal Beagle Josh, I enjoyed that place. If there are any more suggestions please send them my way.
Pubs near Trolley
I am looking for a Sports Bar/Pub within walking distance to the Blue Line. The place that I am looking for would have a decent craft beer selection and burgers. I am also looking for a place that is NOT in the GasLamp district. I have already done a lot of that area.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
Where to buy brisket for smoking
Let me add another vote for the Weber Smokey Mountain.
Where to buy brisket for smoking
WSM smoker here, I get great cuts of meat from the Stater Bros. on Spring in Long Beach. Also some great butchers in some of the mexican mrkts. I will check out the Smart and Final brisket.
Looking for sweet spice
Again thanks for the info Scott. For my next smoke I think I will try the molasses route. then move on from there.
Looking for sweet spice
Thanks for the link and the suggestions Erika, I will research those.
Palm oil
Thanks to all who replied I will check out those resources. And yes I believe that dende oil and palm oil are one in the same.

Looking for a local source for red palm oil. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will consider using both so far.
Looking for sweet spice
Hello all, I am a low carb diabetic who is looking for a spice that has a sweet taste. I use a vertical water smoker and am looking for something to take the place of brown sugar in sauces and rubs. Thanks to all in advance for any and all help.
Laphroag look-alike???
SKU thanks for the link, it provided some interesting reading. One thing I found interesting is that the email I received from Finlaggan had a Glascow address. They may purchase their whiskey from Islay but it seems that at least their office is elsewhere.
Laphroag look-alike???
PeatPete, I recently sent an email to the good folks at Finlaggan and their reply was almost word for word to what you stated in your last post. I still believe that this scotch has changed. This is not a bad product but just different. There is a theory out there that Finlaggan is not a distiller itself but a company that purchases left over product from other distilleries.
fresh-hop beer
Would that be the same as wet hopped? If so then you just missed the Hoptober fest at Pizza Port in San Clemente where they had some wet hopped beers. They may still have some.

Central Long Beach on Friday night?
The LB Convention Center is at Long Beach blvd and Ocean. That is Downtown Long Beach. This is a relatively safe neighborhood to walk around looking for restaurants. But as JAB has said Belmont shore will work as well.
Laphroag look-alike???
On the Finlaggan issue, I have a thread here on what used to be a fine peaty scotch. Finlaggan has changed. The color has changed from a dark brown to an amber and so has the nose and taste. The stockers at Trader Joe's do not rotate their stock. When I go hunting for the old Finlagan I remove all the bottles looking for what dark treasure I might find in the back.
Finlaggen change.
Found three bottles way in the back in the Petaluma TJs. I didn't have time to look else where do to a busy schedule.
Finlaggen change.
As I travel through SoCal I visit any TJs that I see to find the darker, peatier, smokier Finlaggen I have learned two things. One is that I may be close to getting the last remaining bottle in this area. The other being is that the good folks at TJs don't rotate their hard alcohol very well. One day I visited as many as six TJs and each and every time I had to pull out all the bottles that were in the front only to find what I was looking for in the back of the shelves. The wife and I will be visiting the Petaluma area next week and my hunt will extend to there.
Good inexpensive gin
Well since I am a diabetic the only way I will be drinking it is straight with an ice cube.
Good inexpensive gin
Thanks to all for the suggestions I have decided to make my first foray into my gin experience with one of Trader Joe's house brands, Rear Admiral Joseph's Original London Dry Gin. Price and whim will dictate where I go from here.
Has anyone been to the new Henreys market in Woodland Hills?
I go to Henry's for Winchester cheese and extra virgin coconut oil.
Good inexpensive gin
Thanks for all the suggestions I am sure I will put them to good use.
Good inexpensive gin
For the remainder of the summer I am thinking about changing from my regular single malt to gin. Looking for recommendations for something about $20 a bottle, dry and flavorful. I enjoy things that are out of the main stream as far as flavor goes. All suggestions would be appreciated.
Dinner Before Angels Game
You might be thinking about Bellisle's (not sure about the spelling) if so they've been closed for years. There is a Brew pub around the corner from Angel Stadium. JT Schmids.
