Best Churrasco Chicken?

Huge thumbs up for Zita's - I've been spreading the word about her chicken for a couple years now. Like you say, it's always coming fresh off the grill, right in front of you. Her rotisserie chicken is a great second choice if they're backed up on the grill, and the potatoes... most people will actually remember the potatoes even more than the chicken.

Bairrada was my fave before discovering Zita's - haven't been back since though.

Andouille Sausage search

I realize this is an old post, but if anybody stumbles across this on Google as I did, try out Medium Rare in Etobicoke. Picked some andouille up there last week, it was fabulous. Frank (master butcher that runs the spot) told me "I used Emeril's recipe... except I kicked it up a notch!"

OMIGOD - The Most Amazing Pork in the Crock-Pot!!!!

Made this yesterday - absolutely perfect. Didn't have adobo seasoning so rubbed with garlic powder, cumin, paprika, and sumac. Used a cup of water instead of chicken broth as well, as I didn't have any stock on hand and I'm currently boycotting Campbell's. :)

Reduced juices with onions still in it, stirred a little corn starch slurry in, then finished with a squirt of Sriracha, simply because I finish *everything* with a little squirt of Sriracha.

My guests literally raved about the results. Thanks for posting, it'll be a go-to recipe of mine from now on.

Where can I find Japanese Chef's Knife in GTA?

I've purchased several times from Paul, and always have experienced the fastest, most hassle-free service I could hope for. He carries the full Misono line, including the UX-10 line, which you won't find anywhere else - trust me, I looked!

Knife sharpening? Someone I can trust.

I second/third this - I brought my Misono UX-10 santoku and utility knife to Nella based on the generally positive feedback on this board at the time. They literally destroyed my utility knife (took about a 1 cm chunk out of the base of the blade) and turned my pride and joy santoku into a pale 50/50 impersonation of its former self. Mistakes are mistakes, but this was just plain incompetence. Both blades were scuffed up badly, neither was honed, and they were handed back to me wrapped in newspaper.

When I opened the blades to inspect them and gasped at the state of them, the fellow behind the counter seemed interested at first. When I showed him the chunk busted off the utility knife blade, he said "That wouldn't have happened from the sharpening," and would not listen further to my complaints. Completely outrageous.

I'm heading to NYC this Christmas, hoping that the people at Norin can at least repair my santoku.

K, just realized I've ranted. Didn't mean to do that, jut meant to confirm JennaBean's plea - Do not take your Japanese knives to Nella.

Chipotle in Toronto

Hm. I really am surprised that anybody that's eaten at Burrito Boyz enjoyed Chipotle. Went with a friend for lunch today, both of us ready to be impressed. Neither of us was remotely impressed by any part of the experience. May be that my appetite was totally killed by the $2 (!) guacamole tax, or the lack of hot sauce, or the overall vanilla-ness of it all, I dunno. We'll happily be going the extra 3 kilometres for Burrito Boyz from now on though. :)

chicken tikka masala

I second that emotion - made it last night and it is really fantastic. Just finished my lunch leftovers in fact - the whole office is coming by to see what the delicious smell is!

And it's a cinch to prepare to boot.

Best pizza in Toronto?

Archeo in the Distillery District makes a great traditional margherita pizza - eat-in only though. Great prices, and really great patio too. Plus Soma is just around the corner.

Lookin' forward to tryin' out Wyze Guys though!
