College Park or Beltsville area They have a good rotating draft beer selection. I've had the steak and frites, duck breast, Italian sub, flatbread, charcuterie and cheese plates. I've never had a bad meal there. Service has usually been better at the bar than at a table. The wine events are at the store, which is becoming one of my favorite local liquor stores. |

Breakfast places between DC and BWI I recently had a 6 AM flight from BWI. My girlfriend got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich from the airport Potbelly. I had a couple of bites, and it was okay. |

Recommended restaurant supply stores Sysco in Elkridge is small, but pretty good. Haven't seen woks there, but they do have lots of cookware. It's also one of the few local places I know of that sell whole briskets. |

Growing Up In D.C./Balt: Who Else Remembers.... Was there a pizza joint near the National Zoo in the 80s called something like Popeye's Pizza? I remember eating there a couple of times as a teenager after visiting the zoo. Maybe it wasn't Popeye's, but it some kind of cartoon theme. |

Someone must be eating there... The Pizza Oven in Riverdale has been around since 1957 and hasn't changed much. They still serve thin crust square pizza and have paitnings by the same artist who decorated the Irish Pizza Pub in Laurel. |

Someone must be eating there... I've been meaning to check that place out. I was good friends with the owner when we were kids and I haven't seen him since high school. |

Someone must be eating there... It used to be a great restaurant. I haven't been in years, but apparently it's really gone downhill. Another one that used to be good was 94th Aerosquardon. it really got bad before it went out of business. |

This reminds me of this story from The Onion: |

Chef Kills Wife, Cooks Remains Why don't cannibals eat clowns? Because they taste funny. |

Chef Kills Wife, Cooks Remains I wonder if he has a good recipe for lady fingers. |

School bans triangular flapjacks due to health and safety. And square ones, like poptarts, can be turned into a gun shape, which might upset someone. |

New NBC Primetime Cooking Competition - Food Fighters I keep picturing John Belushi in that cafeteria scene from Animal House. |

Family Dinner near white house As I've posted before, I like the Old Ebbitt's raw bar happy hour. Clyde's in Gallery Place has the same deal, and that's in walking distance from work for me. That's where I usually go when I want oysters after work. |

As if you needed a reason NOT to buy food from Ikea.... I buy coffee beans and Daim bars (possibly the best candy in the world) at Ikea. |

As if you needed a reason NOT to buy food from Ikea.... I once bought a hot dog at Ikea. It took me twenty minutes to figure out how to get the hot dog into the bun, the mustard that was supposed to come with it was missing, and it fell apart before I got a chance to eat it! |

Good local food near tourist locations You can also drive a little bit north up Route 1 (or take Metro - Green line) and have drinks at the College Park dive bar Town Hall (mentioned in one of Pelecanos' early books.) :) |

A new wrinkle in discussion about tipping It's a good thing you weren't wearing a pro-Israel t-shirt when you were there: |

Good local food near tourist locations If you like oysters, they're both worth it for their raw bar happy hour. |

What??? No more Jewish Delis??? There's a scene in Coming to America where Eddie Murphy (playing an old Jewish man) tells it. |

Maybe Ikea should stop selling meat products and start selling baked goods. I can see biscuits in their future. |
