I had a salted caramel "hi-top" from Frosted Cupcakery yesterday. It was like a little cupcake sandwich and pretty good.
Good Fried Chicken
There is a new Golden Bird in Inglewood on La Brea south of Centinela. It has been open less than a year. I haven't tried it because I am not a big fried chicken fan but it may be worth a shot.

Pho Show: A Quick Hit
I went today for an early lunch around 11am. New sign sez they are open for breakfast now from 7am-11am although I was the onjly one in there. Had the Bun Thit Bo Nuong. It wasn't bad but wasn't anything like any I have ever had. Seemed kinda like CPK where they have a Thai salad and its not bad but there is nothing very Thai about it. Also the fish sauce tasted like they watered it down . Wasn't a horrible lunch guess just not what i was expecting. Will go back one day to try out the pho since it is close by.
The Golden State on Fairfax
I went today for lunch about 1:30pm or so. Placed a to-go order and was in and out in about 10 mins. I had the grilled vegetable sandwich and the jalapeno coleslaw. The sandwich was good and a very generous size and the slaw was yummy too. Could only finish half the sandwich but that might have been because I ate my scoop each of brown bread and salty caramel on the way home. I will definetly be back to try the other offerings and also to get my brown bread fix without the drive to Silverlake from the westside.

Pho in South Bay???
There is a branch of Pho So 1 in Gardena, not the best but good for that area. There are also a couple of pho places in Lawndale, I like Saigon Dish on Hawthorne Bl. the best.

Farm Boy vs. Pinkberry
Went to Farm Boy today and they had blueberry, plain and mango. The blueberry was good but the mango was entirely too sweet, was good for a quick taste but definetly couldn't eat a whole serving. I must say I do love Farm Boy's selection of toppings but that weight can quickly add up.

Pretty common where I live but I still do see the type with the pre-packaged ice cream more frequently.

We do have them in L.A. Just had a hot fudge sundae from a truck last night while at my son's football practice in South L.A. During his 2 hour practice at least 7 or 8 ice cream trucks pass by the park. The elote man and tamale lady also come by so always a quick dinner available.

Just went to the movies at the Bridge in the Howard Hughes Center on Sunday and Eurostation Waffles there was closed. When I called to see if it was permanently closed the recording said they are closed for renovations and are hoping to re-open August 10th but since it is past that date who knows.
soul food bakeries esp for red velvet cake
No, Kream Krop is a little further up Manchester and I wouldn't recommend their cakes because they tend to be very dry. The bakery near Market street is called Ms. Ruby's Bakery. There is a painting on the window of a piece of Red Velvet cake and the cake is delicious.

Yep my son really wanted some Buzz Cola but when we went to the Kwik-e mart it was all sold out but they had a ton of it at the 7-11 in Inglewood.

Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato
My son and I decided to stop by the recently opened Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato in Manhattan Beach. Had the Valrhona Sorbet and also the Rainier Cherry Sorbet and both were delicious. Flavors and textures were great. He had the Kiwi and Lemon/Rasberry gelatos. I snuck a taste and enjoyed both but especially the kiwi. Spoke briefly eith the "chef" there who was a really nice guy and let him know I would spread the word. They have a big selection of gelatos, sorbets and ice cream.

They serve oxtails at M&M Soul Food and Aunt Kizzy's where they are smothered with gravy . They also have them at Coley's if u want a jamaican/carribean version.

Yes it is in the mall. Between Macy's and the movie theater.
Kool-Aid pickles???
As kids we would buy a pickle and a pack of kool-aid from the corner store and dip it in as we ate it. The thought grosses me out now but it was great at the time.
