Knowing that you wrote a book about the history of the Columbia in Ybor and are partial to their food, I have had their Cuban and although it's O.K , I certainly am not "swooning" for another in the immediate future.

Wildwood BBQ and Grill St. Pete Beach
We went there for lunch this past week. I ordered a half rack of Kansas City dry rub with sauce on the side. (BTW this is a chain) The ribs were seasoned well but the ribs were more bone than meat. One side was offered with the meal. I chose the onion rings. They were limp and obviously not freshly made. This place in a hotel on the beach is really for the tourists. And their prices are on the high side. They won't last six months if all they have are the tourists to rely on.

Apalachicola: Need recommendation/dinner/room
We stayed overnight in Apalachicola at the Coombs House Inn in May. A very pleasant bed-and-breakfast with several well appointed rooms. See the following link for details. http://www.coombshouseinn.com/ One note, contrary to their web page, the Inn is located in town and not near the water. As to Café Momi the restaurant presently in the Gibson Inn, we found the raw oysters were fresh and excellent but the BBQ ribs were so tough as to be practically inedible.

We just had lunch today at O'Maddy's. Had a great oyster po boy with remoulade sauce. I certainly second the recommendation.
Anyone been to Pias in Pinellas county?
I totally agree with Joan and her assessment of Pia's. We too haven't gone back in over a year. The food was ample and fine but the water issue turned us off and when the 4 of us ordered a "full" carafe of wine, the amount came only up to the medallian on the thick part of the carafe. Nit picking? maybe but sometimes it's the small things that turn you off from the total dining experience.

Moules y frites in Tampa?
Moules-frites is a classic Belgian dish with mussels steamed in white wine and fresh herbs with a side of “Belgian fries” that are twice deep-fried french fries. I don’t believe you will find this dish in restaurants here in the Tampa Bay area. Steamed mussels are easily done at home and you can add your favorite french fries for a semi-authentic Moules-frites.

St Pete Beach/Tierra Verde
Welcome to Florida, one of the major tourist destinations in the world. On St. Pete Beach, you will find that the Hurricane Seafood Restaurant, Woody's Waterfront and PJs Oyster Bar will be swamped with tourists at this time of year and the offerings may not be what you are looking for. I have not eaten at Crazy Conch Cafe but many “locals” have given it very good reviews. Billy’s, across the road from Crazy Conch Cafe always lists its stone crab as the best in the area.

Tampa - Fresh Delicious Stone Crab, Reasonable Prices
Although I haven't as yet had stone crab there, Billy's in Tierra Verde has a 1# select stone crab dinner for $21.95 and a 1/2 # with shrimp for $13.95
