ISO Veggie Sandwich w/ good bread

I have had both the eggplant, and also "tweaked" one to become veggie. I will probably get slammed for this but I do like the veggie offerings at Marmalades...(here it comes).

Beyond stale tortilla chips...any hope?

Well, I'm pretty sure the chips were rancid, and I think I bought them that way. I definitely tossed the reciept, but on a whim asked the store what their policy was. Albertson's let me swap out for a new bag of Mission stoneground (very good by the way) tortilla chips. Nice to know TJ's isn't the ony place looking out for the customers. Thank you for all the ideas by the way.

Definitely not good enough to eat alone. Great point; enough said. I bought them at Albertson's I think, not like TJ's or anything with a reputation for a great customer service policy. Also, bought them a while back, and surely don't have the reciept. Oh well.

Yummy Vegas for 6-yr-old 'saac and his mama?

I haven't been in ages, but there is a jousting tournament at the Excalibur hotel I saw as a kid. Here is the link:

I am not sure if they have a veggiefriendly menu, ask though! Good luck, and happy travels.

Yep. Not awful, like rancid milk for example. Definitely *off* though.

Beyond stale tortilla chips...any hope?

You know what, I'm not. They're natural and preservative-free so they just might have gone completely bad, huh. How can I know for sure? Thanks.

Thank you! Okay, bear with me...can I use a blender (I have no FP). I just made some stock earlier this week from scratch...hapy to use it :) If/when I add canned tomatoes, onions, garlic, when do I? I'll just google tortilla soup recipies, Never mind, and thank you again!

Beyond stale tortilla chips...any hope?

I opened a bag of tortilla chips last night, and the bag actually smelled stale before I even tasted a chip. Sure enough, they're over the hill. Do they stand a chance in a second life as a base for tortilla soup, or tortilla casserole? Can I cook them down to a corn meal-type substance, or should I just chuck 'em? Any ideas would be great. Thank you in advance!

Admit it....You go to Ikea just for lunch.

I am dense, I admit. Is this the assemble-your-self furniture store?

Healthy Hot Pockets

I tried the veggie pocket a while back. I agree the filing is tasty. You can definitely taste the individual, roasted flavors of the different veggies. I thought though that the bread to veggie ratio was too high. Also, not very reasonable price-wise. Not bad, just not great.

pomegrante 7-up

I ttried some diet pomegrane 7-up tonight. It's pretty tasty. It think the pomegrante flavor is rather mild; not too overwhelming. The label indicates it's a limited edition. I suspect this means the holidays, so it may not be around after that. Just thought I'd pass along the info...

Have you ever "trained" yourself to eat something?

HA :) There's a local apricot Hefe that I can muster but I was "sipping" like you said not to do. I'll start with bigger swigs from now on and work my way up the ladder! Thank you for the tips!

Group menu etiquette qn

Oh gosh, I think walking out would have been far worse! I do believe you committed a small faux pas - but this is one person's opinion. Groups like these are usually as much about the friendships as they are about experiencing new/different food/cultures. I doubt the primary focus is finding the best price/pound of a given food item. I would have recommended you try the set menu for two reasons:
1. respect for the host who put the dinner together
2. respect for your fellow diners (you may have come accross like you thought you were better than them)
** perhaps you may have liked the choice, who knows?
Perhaps I am old fashioned but I would never think of balking at the choice of the host in faovr of my opinion. Sometimes manners trump taste preferences. Out of curiosity, what did you have?

The modern "Microwave" oven ?

And to add to that, do you not eat microwaved food AT ALL? Yet how could you possibly know all the time (restos friends homes)?! How do you re-heat ANYTHING?

TOFU recipes pls.

Do you like pasta? I use soft or silken in lasagna or manacotti recipies in lieu of ricotta.

How about tacos? follow instruction on back of taco seasoning packet but sub tofu.

Lettuce wraps yum!

Simply bake with bbq sauce.

Do you like salads? Greek salad instead of feta.

Whaddya think?

Curious Observation

Hmmm, I may be totally wrong here, so if I am I apologize, and delete this. But is seems like I've noticed a certain type of posts coming from someone that seem to be sly attempts at certain plugs. I'd never thought anything of it until I read something the other day (on a Starbucks thread) about actual people who are paid to "talk about"/advertise a company or restaurant. Is this all okay, or should we direct these to the CH Team if we notice them? Thanks, and if I'm off-base, sorry.

Sauces I assume everyone knows how to make...

BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you, Louise. No I had no idea that tonkatsu was an actual dish. So, just as there is a whole line of sauces devoted to steak, the same goes for this pork dish. Got it :) Hey, is it good with anything else?
