ATLANTIS DINING: What to eat, what to avoid?

We were at Atlantis last year. Agree with everything Peppermint wrote. Murray's was good, we were able to get seated fairly quickly. We didn't care for Bimini Grill. There was a restaurant in the casino (I can't remember the name), that was very good. Chopstix was awesome. Great, fresh food. We treated ourselves to Nobu on the last night. Definately expensive, but it is the one meal we still talk (and dream) about. Fantastic food. Around $100 per person Whatever you decide, make sure you make reservations! Except Murray's and the pizza place, you cannot get into the restaurants until 10-11 pm. without reservations. Have a great trip, and let us know what you decide on

Dinner Date Suggestions between Meriden-New Milford?

Restaurant 121 at the Oxford airport is very nice. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. It sits next to the runway, so you can watch the planes take off and land. Very nice atmosphere.

Miller's (Stratford, CT) secret spices revealed

I really miss their hotdogs! Used to ship them to family members out of state. We had their seasoned steak for Easter one year. It was fantastic

Removing Oil Stains From Fabric - Any foolproof methods?

Dawn dish detergent. Works great!

Atlantis in May, Meal plan or not?

Hey Bluebird, we were able to get into Murray's without a reservation. Only a 10 min. wait. That was the only place we were able to get into. The free pickles there were awesome!
Nobu and Chopstix were expensive, but sharing is definately the way to go. I have a "happy fork" and love to try everyone's food! There were 6 of us, and it was the week before Easter so that could be why we had problems. The edemame at the begining of the meal at Nobu were awesome. Have a wonderful trip. Please report back.

Atlantis in May, Meal plan or not?

Oh, Have a great trip, and let us know how you make out!

Atlantis in May, Meal plan or not?

We just got back from Atlantis. We ate at Atlas Bar and Grill, Murray's Deli, Biminy Rd., Chopstix, and Nobu. Chopstix and Nobu were our favorites. We were able to share at both places. Dim sum at Chopstix was great. The fish and chips at Nobu were wonderful! Lunch was mostly done by the pool, or leftovers from the night before.
Make sure you make reservations! You can't get into most restaurants until after 10pm without a reservation, if at all. We didn't leave the resort, so sorry, I can't help you with that

Top Chef All-Stars - Ep. #10 - 02/16/11 (Spoilers)

I am so glad someone brought this up. Laughed every time I saw him running around with the socks.

Oyster River Tavern in West Haven is open again

Thanks for letting us know. We used to love this place and can't wait to go back. Will definately post when we do. I dream about their stuffed clams. Hope they are as good as I remember.

Foxwoods/ MGM?

We were at Foxwoods last week. Had dinner at David Burke. Really good food. Lots of fish options. The tableside caesar salad was delicious. We also ate at The Veranda Cafe. Cute restaurant with diner food. The Golden Dragon is a dim sum place. We haven't tried that yet, but the place us usually crowded. Craft at MGM is also great. Not sure how much you want to spend though.

Fining Dining in Danbury/Southbury Connecticut?

Have been to many private functions at Carmen Anthonys fishouse in Woodbury. Nice room, and very good food.

Foxwoods- best moderately priced restaurants?

I agree. We love Bobby Flay's and Michael Jordans. If that is too expensive, we have had some really great meals at Michael Jordan's Sports Bar. It is definately not loud, and the food is really good,
Good Luck!

No means no

Agreed, and why do I have to chase it around the screen to hit "No Thanks?

Foxwoods- best moderately priced restaurants?

I have to agree about Mohegan Sun. We were at Foxwoods last week. We did Craft which was awesome, That and David Burke are great, but expensive. For casual dining, there is really nothing good. We did Hard Rock, Juniors Deli at MGM, and Veranda Cafe. Just ok. Really nothing that you are looking for. 15 min. ride to Mohegan. I would definately recommend that.

Suggestions for nice, quiet lunch place between Woodbury & Oxford, CT on Tuesday?

Have only been there for dinner. The food is kind of hit or miss. I usually get the Vodka Panne pasta which is good. I like the Olive Tree. It is definately quiet. Food is mostly Greek. Very nice atmosphere.

Suggestions for nice, quiet lunch place between Woodbury & Oxford, CT on Tuesday?

Carmen Anthony's was my first thought. How about Restaurant 121 at the Oxford Airport.? Located in a hanger next to the runway. Food is good. Fun watching jets take off and land.

MAN v. FOOD fans ... Toughest challenge for you?

I love, love, love pizza. But I don't think I could do that challange. Plain cheese, maybe, but not with all those toppings.
Let us know how you make out with the omelet! Remember the homefries and toast.

Worst of the Cape?

Went to Daniel Webster this summer. Haven't been there in a few years. Had the best meal of our vacation there. Ravioli appetizer was amazing. Steaks cooked perfectly. Our big disappointment was Hemisphere. Great location, service was terrible. Food was even worse.

foods you ate as a kid (or young adult) that you wouldn't eat now?

Pillsbury raw cookie dough. Could eat a whole roll of that stuff in one sitting.

Hamburgers vs. Pizza

Definately pizza! We have a small pizza place here in CT that we can't get enough of. Could eat it every day! I like that I could change it up. Straight up cheese mostly, but occasionaly toppings to make it interesting. Like you said "no rules"!

River View BBQ in Seymour, have any of you chowhounds tried it?

Thanks for the heads up! Will definately give this place a try

Top Chef on DVD

I just saw a commercial for Top Chef Chicago available now at Target only

Top Chef on DVD

I know! I bought Season 5. Would love Season 1. You don't get to see those episodes often. Especially the first episode with Ken.

Top Chef on DVD

Season 5 is the only season out on DVD right now.

Bourdain & Ripert's new radio show on XM

I finally listened to the show tonight. I really enjoyed it. The banter between Bordain and Ripert is great. The show was from the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. The food porn part of the show was really funny. I hope the network picks this up.

Brian Boitano is back!

I hate to admit it, but this is my dirty little secret. I like this show! Thanks for the heads up on the new season. I don't tune into the Food Network much anymore.

Steak Dinner...Need Dessert Ideas

My first thought was cheesecake too. Second thought Creme Brulee'

Chef Academy on Bravo

I am also suprised at how much I like this show. The chef was so boring when he judged Top Chef, I thought this would be a train wreck. I love the OC Housewife trying to tell the chef how much better she looks without the chef coat. The show is entertaining and I feel I am actually learning something.

Lasowiak Polish deli Derby CT on route 34

I agree. The parking is tough. We went a few years ago when Miller's in Stratford closed for some Easter kielbasi. Was just ok. Every year we have been trying different Polish deli's for kielbasi and haven't found anything as good as Miller's. Thanks for the heads up on Polonesz. Will give it a try. Yumm Pierogi's.
