Edmonton Recommendation Please - 50th birthday dinner

I am looking for a non-chain restaurant that would be suitable for my Uncle's 50th birthday party. Just a smallish family gathering (around 10 adults & one 3 year old) Does Culina have a private room? Something mid-price range, not too stuffy (because of the little one) and the age ranges of the attendees.

Any help would be great, I have a few ideas but would love the hear of anyones experiences, my Uncle is pretty eccentric and fun so I'd like to do something a little different for him and his partner.

Home Carbonation Machine in Edmonton

Does anyone know of a home water carbonation system that is NOT a sodastream? I am looking for a supplier or distributer that would ship to Edmonton. Commercial or Personal. I drink soooo much fizzy water I would like to look into getting my own setup.

Where to buy Alberta lamb in Edmonton?

Butchers Corner in Beaumont had some frozen racks in, they might be able to special order if you ask...Awesome butchers if you get a chance to stop there. They have there own smoker so the beef jerky is great and they regularily have bison and elk.

Info on meat-buying habits and Brothers Quality Meats

My family hasn't decreased our red meat consumption, we buy a side of beef once a year. I definately use the cheaper cuts a lot - love the crockpot. Also, I have been buying chickens from the hutterites for years. Beaumont has a great butcher shop that has bison, some other wild meats, excellant cuts and their own smoked varieties. If anything, we eat a little more meat and variety.

Punjab Sweets & Restaurant - Edm

Went here for lunch today, GREAT buffet at a very reasonable price. Decor isn't fancy but the food was really good. Pakoras, Curries, Paneer, Butter and Tandori Chicken and ohhh the desserts. They even have a little store at the front that sells all sorts of sweets to take away. YUM YUM is all I have to say. Looks like they have a dinner buffet too. Service was good and they were very family friendly (I had my 1.5 year old with me - she loved the pitta and sweets for sure)

Address is 9393 34th Avenue

The Curry Fix - Edm Riverbend Sq

Went here for lunch today and was very impressed. For $7 we got a full buffet with some of the more popular dishes...tandori chicken, butter chicken, a spicy veggie curry, dal. The meal included papadums and FRESH naan. I read that the dinner buffet was only $12...might have to take the hubby back next week. The service was good and my 1 year old enjoyed it as well. Great place

Best Dim Sum - Edmonton South Side

We went to GRB and really enjoyed it...the trolleys were full and luckily we were seated close to where they come out so we were able to get everything we wanted. The staff was great and the 1 year old LOVED the sticky rice :-)

Reviews of Restaurants in St. Albert please...

Went to L'Azia on St Albert Trail for Sunday brunch about a month ago (with a one year old). The food was spectacular and well priced. They were pretty busy so we had made a reservation. Service was so so, but I chalked that up to how busy they were.

Best Dim Sum - Edmonton South Side

Hey Foodies, I need a little help. I am looking for a good Dim Sum place that is on the South side of the city or surrounding southside area. I love a few places downtown but its awfully far to travel from Beaumont.

Any tips out there??

Family Brunch or Lunch in St Albert

I am looking for a family friendly lunch or brunch restaurant for this Sunday in St. Albert. We are going to the Arden theatre matinee and would like a nice place to dine beforehand that isn't Smitty's or Albert's.

Can anyone help with some suggestions? West End Edmonton would probably work as well.

Where can I find the best donairs chicken or beef in AB?

Maina's Donair in Beaumont (straight down 50th st from Edmonton) has amazing chicken and beef donairs...choice of sauces and veggies too. Served steamed and the cheese is all melty :-) I love the way they wrap them so you can actually eat them without them spilling all over the place too.

It is in a strip mall in SE Edmonton. Sorta an blink and miss it place, 67th ave and 99th st. I definately recommend it.

My SO and I went out for an early dinner at the Bauernschmaus last night. I have to say I was a little worried after hearing about poor/ slow service but we were pleasantly surprised. Service was awesome and the food was sooo yummy. I started with the Goulash and had the Farmer's Feast dinner...the pork Sausage was very tasty and the loin was melt in your mouth...the Viennese pasta and red cabbage sides toped it off. My SO had deep fried mozzarella as a starter, it was okay but his parmesan snitzel he ordered for his meal was perfect. We ended off sharing a piece of heaven that is the apple strudel. All this for under $60. Definately a family friendly, wallet friendly feast. We will be going back and taking family and friends with us

Good Eats in Port Moody

We are heading out for a vacation to beautiful BC and were looking for some family friendly places to get good food and produce in Port Moody.

We are also stopping in Chilliwack and Abbotsford to visit family. Any markets or diners/ cafes that are must stops?

What are the best things that I need to see and eat in these places?

Help & THANKS!

Family Friendly Lunch Downtown

We are looking for a non-chain family friendly lunch place downtown or out towards the Odyssium. We are heading out to Body Worlds in the afternoon and were hoping to go somewhere yummy for lunch beforehand. I have an 8 month old so a high-chair is sort of a must :-)

Any ideas would be such a help.

Koutouki Chain RIPOFF

Each restaurant has very different prices and policies. I was incredibly impressed wih the Leduc location and when we needed a little extra pita or dips or anything they were usually given to us without an addition to the bill. I say usually but not always. We thought we would try out the southside location recently. A large group of 20 with drinks and wine and a large bill were nickeled and dimed on every request. The service itself was poor and then the gratuity was already tacked on at the end...which I understand is normal industry wise...but when your unhappy you should have some recourse (sigh, just needed to vent). I understand the Leduc location is now changing management so I expect its quality will plummet and we will be finding another place to spend our coin.

Koutouki Chain RIPOFF

Yiannis and the Koutouki chains overpriced. RIPOFF!

I'll never step foot in another again. Next thing you know they'll be charging for table water and napkins.

Good asian takeout in Far-South Edmonton

It might be a little bit of a jaunt but worth it. You take 50th street off the Henday out to Beaumont. At the very southern part of town by Extra Foods there is a Nepalese/ Indian place called Yeti Gourmet that does take out (pick up). The best Bison Samosas and this wonderful spicy noodle dish called Thuppa.

Not too far from 111st if you take Ellerslie either.

Any good restaurnats near West Edmonton mall?

Sadly most of the restaurants are chains but as far as they go, I like Moxie's in the mall...

Independents’ Days : July 15-19 & July 22-26

Thought Edmonton and area Foodies would appreciate this...I intend on hitting Four Rooms Tapas Menu (& hopefully many others)

Alberta Beef in Edmonton

If your looking for something on the Southside that is Truly Local Alberta Beef. Try Jack's Grill - I think it is Lendrum near southgate mall...
